Real Seafood Company - Ann Arbor
Love the food and the bday discount. Thanks again for a memorable birthday dinner!
Went there for my birthday celebration, at first everything was ok, then we noticed fruit flies all around us when we received our drinks and appetizers. A fruit fly actually was in my white wine. They gave me a new one, but it was still disgusting to eat around fruit flies. My sisters order was wrong, our food took over an hour to come out when the restaurant was actually empty. Only a couple tables besides ours. We didn’t even get an apology. I’ve been to this restaurant many times and this is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had! Really disappointed!
Service was outstanding, he was attentive without being intrusive. Miso-glazed sea bass was awesome, as was the tuna tar tare app. Back room is rather loud, voices echo off the stone wall.
We had a great evening. Everything was terrific from start to finish. Will definately return
For what you got the food was overpriced. Service was ok.. Value.. Though I got robbed.
It was our 1st time dining there. We order martinis and my glass was dirty. The oyster were the best part of the meal. They were delicious!! The dinners we order had no taste to them. We will not dine there again, very disappointed .
We have tried The Real Seafood Company on several occasions because there are not a lot of other options for seafood in the area. Most of the time it is decent, never outstanding. This time it was a little off. The paella was overcooked. All of the shellfish were dry. Will likely try again but it wasn't their best effort.
Great service and food
Exceptional meal once again! We celebrated my son’s birthday and he received a free meal including dessert. Perfect dinner!
brussel sprouts were not tender..taste was off mussels needed a thicker broth with more garlic. very bland. Seabass was excellent and oysters very good
I’ve been here many times and every time I love it. My favorite is the blue plate, the seafood always tastes fresh, service was excellent.
Fantastic choice, will be back!
Zachary gave us outstanding service making sure we had everything for which we asked and the meals for suburb! He even was very diplomatic in how the bill was to be divided.
We went on July 4. It was my Birthday. They were just OFF that night. The service slow, the kitchen backup was ridiculous. We waited probably 25 minutes after ordering to get our salad, my husband’s was delivered without dressing. My cole slaw never came. Our food arrived around 25 minutes later. I’m surprised management didn’t come to our table to check in. Our food was still good, however. Overall, just a bad experience, and I hope they pull it together.
Great place for wonderful seafood as always. The only negative was the air was blasting and we were freezing.
The food st Real Seafood is always perfect!! The service is consistently excellent!!
Lovely, mainstream location at a respected, long time local seafood restaurant with an extensive, delicious menu. The plate presentation could use a little more polish, of late - yet the food is superb, and the service, exemplary. There is street side and atrium seating. I highly recommend the street side view in the atrium, if available.
Excellent service and food as always!! I had the Sea Bass and my wife had the gnocchi. Both of us were trying a new dish here for the first time and both were done to perfection! Excellent service from our server Leo capped off a great evening.
Went here for my birthday dinner. Had never been before but heard great things. Had a great experience and the waitress was very helpful in helping us for our first time. Also, kudos for having tablets for menus.
We’ve been going to Real Seafood for 20 years and it was always just the best! Some of my most enjoyable dining memories are at Real Seafood. I’m sad to say, though, that the last several times we’ve been there I’ve been struck by a couple of changes in terms of value. My husband ordered the whitefish and received a very small piece of fish for nearly $30. The Blue Plate Special, formerly a plate so crowded with large stuffed flounder, crab cakes, oysters Rockefeller, and copious shrimp that there was no room on the plate for the side dish - is now small shrimp and scallop skewers, a small crab cake, and a very small piece of flounder rolled around some seafood stuffing with plenty of room left over on the plate for the side dish. It is tasty, for sure, but is decidedly overpriced at $32. One of my favorites, the scallops in sherry butter, previously consisted of jumbo scallops in a luxurious sauce - now they are small to medium scallops in a sauce that was oddly thin and watery, with just a hint of sherry and butter.
The ambiance is still lovely, the service is great, but it just doesn’t feel good to pay over $200 for a special occasion dinner for a family of four when portions and ingredients are anemic when compared to the price tag. I still love you, Real Seafood, but am sad to see your previously glorious plates of food reduced to something so-so.
We celebrated my wife’s birthday. Mike Bigelow was our waiter and he made us feel like we were his only guests. Mike is knowledgeable and professional. He suggested a wine for my wife she had never had before to her full delight. One of the hostesses spent time with us making us feel like we were old friends as well. The desserts were excellent. This dinner helped us temporarily set aside a traumatic health issue one of our family is experiencing. Thank you for the respite. We’ll be back.
Make sure you get some bread, and the street corn is to die for! We are now regulars!
Food is reliably good though changes in the menu meant we were disappointed to miss some of our favorites from the past. Also, waitstaff is variable: some are more knowledgeable about the menu due to longevity. Overall, we enjoy this for special occasions (a birthday in this case).
Our first time eating here in sad to say all most 15 years! We were very pleased with the food and atmosphere.
Food excellent . Happy hour great. Service in the restaurant poor bar service excellent. Must have been an off nite restaurant staff and kitchen were not on the same page
We made a reservation on Open Table for our anniversary. The restaurant was not busy. The service was very slow. The server (Eston) tried his best but apologies only go so far. He never brought dinner rolls. When my food was served (perch) it was luke warn at best. I did not say anything because we had already been in the restaurant for 1 hour and 20 minutes and did not want to wait any longer for food.
We usually make this our Anniversary place. As always, the food was outstanding, the service exceptional (Thank you Shawn!) One minor complaint, it took quite a while to get back our main course. We were not in any hurry so it was not really a problem.
Our party of two shared a lovely bottle of wine, a crab cake and we each had the Miso Glazed Sea Bass. Everything was outstanding but the Sea Bass was sensational. We'll be back.
Our waiter took 40 minutes to bring us our cocktails which turned out to be a tiny champagne bottle that only had to be opened and poorer. We ordered the muscles and after two bites realized they were turned and had to send them back. It took another 40 minutes after that to get the ahi tuna and Avocado appetizer and another 20 after that to get the lobster bites... our waiter obviously hated his job and our food took forever... which was interesting because there was only two other tables with people while we were there.. would not recommend
Enjoyed a pleasant lunch with friends in the covered open area near sidewalk. We were able to enjoy fresh air while being a little protected from car and sidewalk traffic. Tasty food and attractive presentation. Attentive service. A very enjoyable experience!
Waiter forgot to bring our cole slaw. We didn’t say anything because our entrees were being served.
Kitchen ran out of sticky rice.
Husband’s gin martini was made with vodka!!!yuk....
Waiter was very nice.
Food was very good.
The food was excellent! The steamed mussels were the best I've ever tasted! The Blue Plate Special was very good. The crab cakes were superb!
Service was exceptional , food was delicious great Father’s Day meal!
We have been going to this restaurant for years to get great seafood. Unfortunately that will not happen going forward. The quality of the food was very lacking. We all order different menu items and most of us left disappointed.
Food was horrible, atmosphere was terrible. noise level was super loud. Manager was not so nice. Food was not good.
Great oysters and crab stuffed avocado salad
The food was Burnt and the customer service was horrible and uncomfortable.
Great food and service just a very very small bar area and quite noisy! Tough to have conversation due to the noise next time will request a different table!
Very enjoyable! Excellent food good service. Noise level was high.
We had a wonderful "surprise" 40th Anniversary party with all of our children and my father (Gpa).
I do believe Gpa had an even better time, he got to see all of his grandchildren together at the same time in one location.
The real "surprise" was, my wife had no idea everyone was coming home to celebrate our anniversary, which made this a very special day . The food and wine was wonderful, desert was excellent and the flowers added to the festivity.
Going "early" to dinner at 4:00 PM gave us some time before the regular dinner crowd arrived at 6pm, so everyone had a time to visit. Thank you for making our party so enjoyable.
