The food was great, but food took so long and it was difficult to get water refilled or drink orders.
We happened upon ReSette while casting about for a moderately-priced place to have dinner on a recent Saturday night in midtown. The interior is quirky but very inviting, with a casual family-friendly vibe that's not TOO noisy. The menu is mostly classic Italian fare, prepared well, with very generous portions. The eggplant parmesan was excellent. My husband had the veal entree (Milanese), which was ENORMOUS -- breaded veal practically the size of a dinner plate. Excellent service. We will be back.
As Italian restaurants go in midtown Manhattan, I rate ReSette, in the middle. Everything was tasty, but the meat ravioli in brown sauce was a home run. It was on a different level than the chicken parm , which surprisingly doesn't come with a pasta side. There was nothing on the dessert menu that was original, so we passed, and had dessert elsewhere.
Still, the staff is friendly, the food arrived timely and the ambience allows for conversation. We had a pleasant visit, but just nothing beyond other Italian restaurants.
great service from Jimmy. Enjoyed all aspects of our experience--ambiance, friendliness of staff, food, and reasonably priced. We each had a different dish with NO complaints! Decent portions, flavor, and presentation. Tried two desserts and enjoyed those as well!
Great food in a fun place!! I can’t wait to go back and visit Tal and Marisol!!
Great restaurant, fantastic staff.
Wonderful food a real treat.
Nice and quiet, romantic until a table of kids were sat next to us.
We just haopened to make a last minute reservation for a party of 6 and were very pleased we found this place. From the initial reception of the matre di, to the bar service right to the wait staff, everyone was exceptional, attentive and polite. The food was off the charts good! Hommade pasta and Sunday gravy to the brick oven pizza we ordered as a starter, everything was great. We sat on the ground level which was a busy but not overwhelmingly loud. The offser upstairs seating for a quieter experience. Restooms were clean. All in all, great little place to enjoy a good meal at resonable prices.
For years Re sette used to be my go to place before broadway shows, however I will not be returning ever again. Previously, I went for the romantic ambiance, delicious food, and great service. When I went this time I felt like I was sitting in time square the lights were so bright for an evening meal. They were playing pop music and the entire menu changed. Additionally we ordered two appetizers and only one of them came out. We only realized when we got our main courses. When we told the waiter he didnt say a word and just walked away. We also asked for cheese for our pasta and he returned 10 mins later when we were almost done with our meals. The pasta itself was incredibly salty, specifically the special which was parpadalle with beef tips. Im so disappointed that the Re sette I used to go to is gone. I would not recommend this place considering there are so many options in this area.
We were seated upstairs in a beautiful quiet room...the food was delicious and the service wonderful! We would eat there again and highly recommend to others.
3rd time at ReSette and it hasn’t lost its charm. I had the hanger steak and it was super delicious. My husband had the pasta Bologna’s and it was very good. Servers were very attentive.
Excellent food and a nice atmosphere. Not a place to go if you are in a hurry, but worth the wait for the food.
It’s a very nice pizza plus place but not at all the way it’s described in the open table description. It was fine and if we weren’t heading to a broadway show on our 28th anniversary in a tuxedo jacket, it would have been acceptable. We thought we were in the wrong restaurant. It’s described as a feast with spectacular decor. We were looking for a high end romantic place. Not so much. I think it’s a nice neighborhood family place with good service and perfectly reasonable food.
The food is always good, and the service excellent.
Very overpriced for lunch. Could get the same anywhere else in NYC for half the price / lunch menu.
Overall great restaurant to bring a date and enjoy some quality Italian food. Service staff was very friendly and and prompt.
Went in for a quiet business meeting in the late afternoon. Perfect ambiance in the back room, staff were pleasant and personable, and even pulled tables together to make it more convenient for us to review the spreadsheets. We did not eat much but definitely enjoyed the food - will be going back.
Fantastic place to go for supper. Great atmosphere and service. I would highly recommend.
Enjoyed lunch with friends. Food and service was good.
Great value for a friendly meal, not gourmet, but good value. Staff is very friendly, good reasonable wine list, happy hour also.
Service was very good. The entrees are served as stand alone items - you need to order any pasta or veges separately. We would have appreciated some Italian bread instead of the flat bread served. Entree portion size was nice.
Excellent service great food and quick delicious meal ore theater
Came here with business colleagues. Embarrassingly bad food. I do not recommend.
This is a mediocre "red sauce" Italian, chosen for its proximity to the theatre. Better food could have been had at a casual pizza parlor in the neighborhood. A seafood pasta dish came to the table iced cold. The bathroom was poorly maintained and the toilet was stuffed up. The only positive things I can think to say is that they did get us in and out in time for the curtain and the servers & bus staff were very nice.
The food was good, service was excellent. If they had a childrens menu option, it would be 5 stars. We did have the option to add a side of pasta to the Chicken Parm which was a good size for the young eater. Great sauce -would go back again.
We will go back. Everything about it was pleasureable.............
Food was amazing! Not too pricy. Sunday sauce, carbonara, and chicken parm all wonderful and the Brussels sprouts are to die for
Great Italian food with homemade pasta! Must try the roasted Brussels, delicious! Staff is amazing, restaurant is cozy and comfortable. Highly recommend this restaurant tucked off of 5th avenue on 45th street.
What a surprise! The food and service were outstanding. I look forward to returning.
Service was not great. Waitress seemed annoyed with us multiple times during the meal.
The food was good, but the portions were small and the special, wasn't really worth it. However, the chicken parm and the fettuccini carbonara were definitely fantastic! A little pricey though, even for midtown.
Messed up reservation,
Seated alone on 2nd floor
Ugly tv ads running (ads for nail recovery etc),
Disgusting Bruschetta with oil all over (tasted like double fried),
Pasta pesto with cream, so nothing a person can enjoy with lacto intolerance, why not call it creamy sauce, it definitly no pesto,
And a pushy waiter....
All ingredients for a disaster meal, amd not cheap
Food was good. Nothing special . Probably would not go there again. Too many other choices in the city
Everytime the door opened, we were hit with a wall of cold air. Like most Manhattan restaurants, it is small and cramped. The people were nice, but it wasn't intimate, and I feel that they misreprented themselves online.
I made a reservation on my phone from the train and it was honored nicely. It is very close to Grand Central Station . The service was good and staff is friendly. The small plates or appetizers are definitely small but everything was good. My girl had the lamb chops from the small plates section she said they were very good and tender. I had the hanger steak which was very good and flavorful. This is not good for kids there really isn't a good kids menu but overall it was a very satisfying experience and I will return in the future.
This was frankly embarrassing, as I picked the restaurant for an evening with friends. Had a reservation for 6:30, arrived 5 minutes early, wasn't seated till 7. Rather than apologize for the wait the hostess when she looked up the reservation (which was made for 6 people four days in advance), said "Oh, 6 people? That is going to take a while."
Worst service EVER. We felt like we should be grateful the waitress ever spoke to us. One person's order was wrong - no apology. Waitstaff broke a glass on the table while serving and the entire table had to then be cleared - no apology. And rather than comp something, we were actually charged twice for a dish. In terms of food, the meat dishes ordered were good, but pasta dishes were quite disappointing.
Some of the worst Italian food I've ever eaten. Wedding soup had chunks of mozzarella cheese (what?) and my pasta dish was all stuck together and almost inedible. On a positive note, we had a great waiter who made our experience tolerable. As someone who eats out dozens of times per month (business and pleasure), this was simply not good. Maybe I caught them on a bad night, but can't imagine giving them another chance.
This was my 3rd time having lunch at Re Sette - it's a lovely restaurant and the decor is very pretty. Food is fresh - my friend and I usually opt for a pizza (margherita) and salad (Mediterranean). We've also had the following appetizers: meatballs, octopus and eggplant rollatini which were all very tasty. Service is attentive and special shout out again to Daniel who always makes sure our water glasses are filled which I love. Highly recommend Re Sette.
We came in and were seating immediately(with reservation). The service was great and the staff was polite and attentive. The bruschetta was outstanding. I had the hanger steak that was great. Creme brule was a great desert. Overall terrific dining experience
EXCELLENT FOOD & SERVICE .. WOULD DEFENITELY GO BACK AGAIN. THANK YOU
Nice italian restaurant.
We had a reservation and glad to have it as it was really busy.
They took us to the table at the reservation time, no delays and the service was really fast.
Overall the food was good, many options for whole family.
The dessert, home made Tiramisu, was outstanding!!!!!
