rbk American Grill
Bus - Pace
Always great food. Nice for a date or a casual night out. From burgers to fish, salads to great appetizers they do a great job. Good gluten free options and great mixed drinks.
We decided last minute to try RBK I was skeptical and didn’t feel like venturing out. I was wrong the space was modern and warm feeling at the same time. I loved the lighting it was dark and romantic. Service was perfect and the food was terrific. We tried the goat cheese starter which was amazing. Short ribs and Painted Desert salad couldn’t have been better and we took home flourless chocolate cake for dessert it was delicious! Will be back, new favorite go to spot.
We loved the space. The food was delicious and great quality for the price.
Loved the variety of the menu. Creative selections, and something for everyone. However, Mussels were small, and chicken lettuce wraps too salty and lacked color in presentation. Room temperature was a little cold.
My boyfriend and I had dinner here this past Saturday. When we walked it, it seemed like a very tiny restaurant. We really liked the ambiance — it feels like a place to be comfortable and welcomed. Our waitress was very nice. My boyfriend had the bistro chicken and I had the eggplant parmesan. The waitress told us ahead of time that it would be 15 - 20 minutes for the chicken, so that was good to know (and we weren’t in a rush). My eggplant parm was amazing. Hands-down the best eggplant I’ve had in a while. It was served with an arugula salad instead of pasta, which I liked. My boyfriend’s chicken bistro was also cooked very well. It was served with carrots and a potato lasagna-like side. All of it was very good. I would highly recommend this place. We will definitely be coming back in the future.
The entire staff was just lovely, but the food was lackluster.
Rbk is a solid choice. Crispy goat cheese is a nice atarter. Service was friendly and attentive. Had to knock off a star because the pork chop was overcooked and dry. Do not overcook a pork chop.
Would have been great except it took 55 min to get the dinner order! Then, only 3 out of 4 entrees come , and we wait another 7 min for 4th to come out. We ordered 1 salad, 2 orders of steak tacos and a chicken dish... what the heck took so long!? No apologies for the delay, no offer to comp a dessert or anything to make up for it . I probably won’t be returning.
Cold fries, food less than espectacular, slow service, very noisy restaurant.
Fun atmosphere for a casual date night!
We had good food at a fair price. A good variety of option and not overwhelming menu. The servings were good size. The available wines was good but only one beer on tap. The service was very friendly and efficient.
Decent food, not too expensive. Drinks too strong.
We've enjoyed a meal at RBK 4 times and keep coming back. Good food, service, and ambience.
The menu online was not updated. Was looking forward to the scallops and they did not have it available in the restaurant. I also didn’t like the specialty drink i picked and Arturo was nice enough to let me order something else. We had the fish tacos and jambalaya and were good. The service was good but noticed our server runs food, bar tends and waiters. Lots of hats for one person! Would return again for lunch but would not for dinner. Nice touch for birthday ice cream at the end.
We had a great dinner. I had the salmon special which was delicious. Service is very good. Can be loud when the trains go by ( we sat outside), but we mad that part of the experience. I would definitely go back again.
Delicious food from start to finish of the meal. Excellent cocktails; not your standard drink list. Wonderful service as well. We will definitely return. Hidden gem in downtown Downers Grove.
The service was great. The food was just OK.
Excellent food, wine and service. Will go back for sure.
Our waiter was wonderful. Food was very good; we've been there several times. We ate outside, so the trains were noisy, but that was our choice! We've eaten inside before and the noise level is quite acceptable - - quiet.
We chose to give it a try. We aren’t from the area and had a wake to go to and looked up close by restaurants on open table. Definitely a good pick. The food was wonderful. Service was fine. It wasn’t very busy so we didn’t wait very long. I would definitely recommend!
Consistently delicious food at a moderate price. Our go to for a great meal.
Service was very good and food was even better but I don’t know why we did not receive Open Table points for this restaurant.
Very good menu selections, a variety of options to suit different eating styles
This was among our best experiences at RBK. Our server was attentive, even though we were one of only two tables on the front patio. They were thoughtful about responding to dietary restrictions, and both of our meals were well-enjoyed. We sat on the front patio, and on a summer Friday, it was energetic, including the multiple trains for commuters coming home, the band playing at the station, and the steady stream of families coming and going from Every Day's a Sundae. We enjoyed the people watching, but I would recommend dining off of the rush hour period. Next time we'll try the side patio seating to see if it is a little less frenetic.
The menu has been consistently reliable and interesting, and there were nice choices for wines by the glass. We'll keep returning to RBK for a nice meal near home.
We had a wonderful time enjoying wine and good company on the outdoor patio. Food was tasty. Our server added an extra crab cake to our order so everyone in our party could enjoy the appetizer.
This place is just ok. I’ve been here 4 times because my date wanted to go. 3 of the four times I was disappointed. Every time it was food quality! Just average and lacked freshness. This last time it was the Porkchop! I can do a better job!
No iced tea? What? 1/2 hour for tea to be ready. 45 min. wait for steak dinner and mac and cheese? Apologies from waiter. . . . the place was not that busy. Waiter had no customer service sense. Never came to refill drinks. Awful for the price.
This is our go to place in DG. The food is great, consistent, and reasonably priced. You can get something casual - like the burger, or go more upscale and get the fish of the day. The salmon with orange, fennel and spinach is one of my favorites. Servers are friendly and efficient, and it's just a great neighborhood place.
nice place. interior of the restaurant is ok - every day dinning. nothing especial. food was ok also. i had their Salmon special. came up with spinach, mushrooms and edamame in the broth. not sure why broth was there, because they did not provide spoon for that) beets salad was very nice.
First time and found everything very good. Good very tasty.
We’ve had several great meals here! Never a bad dish
Every time we've gone to RBK the food has been excellent.
Very good. This would stand up very well next to similar restaurants in the city. I would just like to see the place dressed up a bit more for dinner.
We’ve been here before and my favorite dish is the goat cheese appetizer. It is the best! We took in an early movie at the Tivoli and RBK is a short walk away. It was my husband’s birthday which I noted when I made the reservation on open table and my only disappointment was there was no meny]tin of it by wait staff. We had lobster roll and grouper and both were good.
I like the atmosphere. It's a fairly small place but the noise volume is moderate so it's not exactly intimate. But for a group of friends this was perfect. Food was great... the short ribs are excellent. The mixed drinks are flavorful and potent. I thought our server did a great job too. She was attentive and friendly without being overly so.
Great service and great food. Short ribs are amazing.
The noise level is deafening. You are shouting at someone sitting six inches across from you. I would never go back. also loud music playing.
We were happy with the menu options and the food tasted great. Our server was very nice. The restaurant is clean and although we didn't sit at the bar, it looked very inviting. The restaurant was completely full, but we still felt taken care of. I would recommend it.
Very thoughtful menu using quality ingredients. Same with the hand crafted cocktails. So good, and well made.
I will say though that drinks, apps, and *most* of the dinners were excellent, the grouper was not, unfortunately. Dry, covered in cheese (why???), and just bland.
I won’t knock the restaurant for one bad dinner though. Been here many times and is always great.
Thursday date night. Excellent service and a variety of specials. Proteins cooked perfectly. They had a chicken tortilla soup which was the best item of the night. While the salmon and braised short rib were cooked perfectly they were short on salt and generally flavor overall.
