The same excellent quality of fresh ingredients prepared expertly in a more casual setting. Stunning views and a lovely dining room make each visit a special occasion at a good price.
View is beautiful, service is always good, has a cozy vibe upstairs.
Ray's is an old faithful. The Cafe is excellent value for food, service and ambience.
We had a great time. The place was vibrant and the view is spectacular. The hostess got us a table at the window. Our waiter was pleasant and the food was yummy.
The Sablefish is sublime. Fresh, healthy, not overdone with sauce. Always done to perfection, can never get past it on the menu.
Always a must when in the emerald city!
Love going to Ray’s Cafe. Delicious food, gorgeous views, excellent and helpful service. Our waitress Sarah was very friendly and extra accommodating. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend.
We had a wonderful meal at Ray's Cafe. Our server was excellent and very friendly. We were served in a timely manner as we had an event we were attending afterward. Overall, great option with a wonderful view.
We had a business lunch at Ray's Cafe yesterday. The food and service was terrific and it was quiet enough to carry on a conversation easily.
And, of course, the view was stunning.
Great, very nice casual experience
Good quality, excellent service, and yet unremarkable. They need to expand the type of cuisines they offer, "jazz it uo."
This was our first time at Ray's Cafe and it was unfortunately very underwhelming. The views are fantastic, to be sure, but the food was mediocre at best. My wife got the seafood fettuccine dish and found the sauce completely flavorless and watery. I got the filet mignon and jumbo shrimp and found three small shrimp next to a filet that was overpowered by a deluge of demi glace. However, the mashed potatoes were very good, and my wife liked the carrot cake dessert. Seems like overall the Cafe kitchen is a clear step below the Boathouse kitchen.
Great food!
Lovely restaurant and beautiful view. The food was tasty. We loved the clams and the crab legs.
Once again, a great review for an outstanding dining experience. If you haven't tried it, you are missing out on a special Seattle restaurant.
Our dinner here was amazing! We ate clam chowder and fish and chips, beside the water watching fishing boats head out to sea. Doesn’t get much better! Food was brilliant and we were very happy.
The food is good. Not outstanding and not going to knock your socks off (I won't order salmon here again, too many places that do it better) but the overall experience was great. My dining mate had the filet and shrimp and it was excellent. I've had great scallops here in the past.
The food is fine although apps are better than entrees in the café. For fine dining go downstairs and spend more. But great casual place, and there is no better late afternoon view and setting in Seattle.
Never disappoints
Everything was exceptional. We sat outside and had a terrific view. The drinks and food were delicious, the service was perfect. We made a good choice.
lackluster food and awful service
Rays Boathouse never disappoints, whether in the casual upstairs bar or café, or the more formal downstairs dining room, the food is always masterfully prepared, the wait staff attentive, and a great selection of beverages. I had the very reasonably priced Filet Mignon, perfectly grilled with scrumptious, mashed potatoes, portobello mushroom, a light saucy gravy, and broccolini. My friends, (all women), had ordered 'Seafood Salad', which was good,
but they were drooling over my dinner. Oh, and I did not share one single bite!
Ray’s IS the benchmark for NW family dining!!! Eating here has become second nature for my Birthday!!
We visited Ray’s cafe a few times before, and this time it was a bit down and a bit more pricey.
But overall good place, deserving its four stars
1. appetizer was very good - tuna tartar salad, with tasty tuna, great sauce and wasabi aioli
2. Choice of main courses was limited. If you exclude cheaper “fast-food like” dishes (burger, sandwich, pasta etc) they had only:
- salmon as the only fish dish - definitely not enough for fish place
- steak,
And both on expensive side for $38.
I took pasta which I liked very much last time - but today it was a bit worse (simple tomato sauce which I did not expect and do not like) - although with a lot of vegetables and well prepared.
3. Very nice location, nice water view - a lot of window tables plus veranda
4. Nice service.
I miss the "free birthday" lunch or dessert of years past.
Great dinner at sunset! Delicious seafood salad
Delicious salad and a great view even if it was raining. Very good service.
My wife and I love Rays. Views, staff and most importantly the food is always incredible!
We love Rays. The menu is a little limited and pricy but the seafood is excellent. This was our first visit where we found the wait staff totally lacking. I hope this isn’t a signal fo things to come at Rays.
Great food and service!
Fish & Chips was greasy. Clam chowder was very rich. Apple salad was good. Service was good. Nothing spectacular - we likely won’t be back.
Ray’s is a special place to dine because the views across the Puget Sound are always stunning. The food is very good but not amazing. We had excellent service and will come back often to enjoy the views and armosphrere
We spent Valentine’s Day here, and decided the bar was more our scene. We ate at Rays Cafe (upstairs) which is a little more casual than the downstairs and more fun in my opinion! Bartender was attentive and quick to get our food and drinks. The steak was a little tough but really enjoyed the oyster special and the king crab legs. Chocolate Genache was terrible but that’s just me. :)
As always the service and food was wonderful at Ray's Boathouse Cafe. Wish it had been a clearer day, but even then the view of Puget Sound in the rain is pretty.
Everything thing was excellent, except for the server who appeared to be overwhelmed. He did not exhibit a culture of service. Simple request to take a picture of my spouse and I was not honored. He appeared rushed and preoccupied. I have frequented Rays Boathouse since the late seventies; I have always felt that it is a welcoming venue. But on 2/13/18, that was not the case. Maybe the waiter just had a bad day.
Excellent lunch at Ray's Cafe. The mixed greens salad with apples was excellent. I loved the abundant apple chunks instead of the wafer-thin slices of apples that used to be on this salad. Good update, Ray's. The entire Ray's team made this an excellent experience and I highly recommend this gem.
Food was deliciois and served quickly. Wouldn't recommend the mini salmon burgers, bunds weren't soft, fish tasted overcooked. Had made reservation, but were accommodated at a table that wasn't all set for us. Had to ask few times and remind the waiter to bring the missing silverware set and plate. Great view of the water, cosy atmosphere.
Disappointed in our seating. We reserved several days in advance, but were seated as far from the windows as possible ( by the rear fireplace). It was my wife’s birthday, so the placement was disappointing
A great neighborhood restaurant and a great place for Seattle visitors. The view from the outside seating and from the window seating is beautiful, the drinks very good, the service very attentive an accommodating to special requests and the food, especially the Thai seasoned mussels exceptional. The happy hour now covers the total restaurant and is attractively priced with very nice options.
Service was slow. We usually love this place. The food was ok also this time I have always loved it. Not sure what was wrong.
