Congrats and thanks to Ray’s for bringing back “Ray’s seafood salad.” I was heartbroken when it taken off the menu and elated to see it back. Thank you Ray’s!

Ray's is always a fun place to take out-of-town visitors, and we appreciate the good noise level. Many restaurants are to noisy, you can't hear each other.

I found it lacking in comparison to previous visits. Perhaps an off night in the kitchen? $20 for 6 oysters and they all had pieces of shell and were not fresh - don't ask, I know. Caesar salad was about as basic and undressed as I've ever had. No anchovy! NE clam chowder was good, not great. Beer was over priced. I was upstairs with 2 others. I like that space and will go back again. My guess is, off night. I can only hope...

Ray’s Cafe has been a favorite of my family’s for many years. The restaurant has a magnificent view of Puget Sound and the entrance to the Ballard Lochs. Service is always good and food is fresh and delicious. My favorite spot to have some fish and chips on a weekend. Other places may be lower cost but do not match the quality, service, and view.

Really fabulous food but average service. Never did he pour any of our wine that was on ice. Unusual service this night.

Too pricey. I do remember when Ray's offered a birthday lunch on your birthday and later on at least a dessert .
Cafe is now as expensive as the restaurant.
We have been coming to Ray's for over 20 years and it seems just too expensive now.

Neglected to tell us one of the entrees was unavailable and without letting us know substituted a different salmon entree. We told server was not what was ordered. Apparently mgr had not told server. It was not handled professionally. Ended up turned sub dinner and did not reorder. We were comped with free dessert but still was handled poorly.

We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, excellent meals (we had salmon and blackfish, both outstanding), and proficient, unobtrusive service. The view on our holiday visit was serene and beautiful.

As usual great food and wonderful service. This was Christmas Eve, so special with family.
Prices seem to get a bit higher, more so I think than other places, in escalation. That limits the number of visits we make to this fine restaurant that I have visited for almost 50 years.

We were seated in the back alcove, no visible window, high noise level. We felt the price we paid for mediocre food was disappointing.

I made reservations on Open Table for a friends holiday luncheon. I was really pleased that we got a window table. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. The food was very good. So was the Bloody Mary. We had a wonderful time!

Ray's always is good and this luncheon was no exception. Great service and great food. I had the fish & chips and took about half of it home. Not surprisingly, my husband ate it later that evening and asked where we had eaten since the it was so good. To be able to say that about left-over fish and chips is pretty amazing!

When the sun and mountains are out, Rays Cafe is a six star experience. Without the view, it's a good four star with fresh and tasty but pretty standard menu. There are good fresh salads and great burgers in a cafe price range, and some fairly formal and pricey mains. Would love to see some more variety in the lower end of the menu, but I'll keep coming for the view.

I was looking forward to reconnecting with a friend that I had not seen in a year and a half. We wanted it to be special and where it was quiet enough for good conversation. It met all our expectations and was not so busy that we didn't feel guilty making it a leisurely dinner. Great evening!

My family and I have had the Thanksgiving buffet in the Cafe for several years in a row. We really enjoy the atmosphere. The servers are excellent. The food is very good, especially the preparation of the vegetable side dishes, which are many. Also, desserts are presented in tiny, bite-sized portions, which means I get to sample more than one!

We took Mom to Ray's Café for her 80th birthday this past week. I knew Ray's would be a perfect place to celebrate. I'm a regular there, and often bring friends for their birthday. I reserved a table and also mentioned it was Mom's 80th. Service was sporadic rather than attentive. Food was just OK, nothing outstanding beyond the always yummy clam chowder. When dessert time arrived, our server mentioned nothing about Mom's birthday at ALL. No complimentary treat was offered, and then the dessert we obviously had to order and pay for was missing the all important candle, like it was just a dessert ordered on any ordinary day. Highly disappointing!

All of the five people at our table thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I have been to Ray's several times and found the food to be excellent, as it was this most recent time when I chose the filet mignon/shrimp meal--very yummy. Service was good. However, a large raucous party of 10-12 people next to us made it nearly impossible to converse. This didn't exactly ruin the experience, but it definitely took the shine off it.

Very nice lunch with family. I had the sablefish, it was cooked to perfection. I found it funny that the server adamantly warned us about bones in the fish. I’m assuming that they have received some complaints about that, that’s why they say that. It’s kind of sad that in 2017 there are still people that don’t understand that fish has bones.

Ray's has the best happy hour in Seattle, with small plates to be shared or as a meal in themselves. Favorites include the mussels and the ahi poke. Try the bourbon buck!

Downstairs is fancier and more expensive, but whether you visit the cafe upstairs or the restaurant downstairs you’re sure to enjoy a great meal.

The view can’t be beat!

As always, the view is spectacular. I brought my CO friend to soak it in and have a delicious bite of food. She was surprised by the bay shrimp cocktail appetizer (not expecting what looked like canned shrimp on arugala in a glass to be her choice). I ordered the calamari: it's fried but delicious, nice aoli sauce. We then split the 3 piece fish and chips. The coleslaw seemed like a refrigerated afterthought. The fish was OK but not flakey delicious that I've had at other spots around town. Fries were lovely. I would say based on what we ordered, Ray's is all about the view and not so much about the food.

Ray's should be rated five stars. The views are fantastic, the service is first class and the food is very good. However, Ray's place so many tables adjacent to the deck railing that seating is less comfortable than in economy class on an airplane.

I've had lunch at Ray's Café dozens of times; always enjoyable and reliable. I almost always order entrée salads at lunch, and a few years ago they changed the menu to feature smoked fish - salmon or scallops. I don't like anything smoked (except ham), so have had more difficulty ordering since the change. The bewildering aspect is that sometimes I ask for a substitution and it's allowed, while other times it isn't. This time it was allowed, but I had to pay $5 extra for substitution of tuna, which was annoying. But I will never stop going to Ray's (both the café and downstairs) because of the ambiance, view, and perky service.
