Contacted Rays well before our reservation. Explained we were visiting Rays with family members because that’s where we got married 26 years ago. Asked for a window table. Was told no guarantee. I understood. We were sat at a table in middle of restaurant. Entire time we were there - open tables on the window were available. When we left they were still open. Our total dinner bill was over $500. Food was just OK. Sadly we won’t be back. Just seems like it’s not the same Rays we got married at. Should note our server was excellent. Not her fault.

We were having an early dinner before going to ZooLights. Everything was perfect thanks to our great waitress. Can’t wait to go back.

Great restaurant if you are in visiting the Ballard locks in the afternoon. They are not open for lunch on the day I visited. the location is literally on the water, and the second floor is much more casual than the main dinning room.

We tried various appetizers and both the king Crab legs, and the steak options. everyone thought their meal was very good.

I have previously eaten at the second floor bar, which was also great.

Our first visit -- with family from South Africa. Everyone was delighted - even the two-year-old. The sablefish was sublime. And our waiter Eric was flawless.

Came here with our family after visiting the nut cracker. We made a whole day out of it and this place was the perfect way to close our holiday outing. Ray's had amazing food, our waiter was great, excellent service, perfect recommendations. Several of us had the Grilled Sablefish in Sake Kasu which is a local favorite, just as the House Smoked Sablefish and the Grilled Salmon. Everything was cooked perfect and Ray's red blend wine was the perfect one to to tie it all up.

We would not recommend Rays. It was extremely expensive. We tend to go out for bistro type restaurants but really wanted to treat ourselves to a nice meal. Our meal was delivered cold & they said that one of their warmer plates was not working. We waited additional time for them to prepare other entrees & it was certainly not worth the money spent. $45 for a piece of salmon with a few vegetables is expensive & $36 for 4 or 5 scallops was also way too expensive. Rays use to be so good. They really need to work at improving their prices. Next time I will head upstairs for their happy hour.

Great place for a special occasion. Wonderful flavors and the sear on the halibut was excellent. The wine selection was fantastic. The wait staff was helpful without being intrusive. Beautiful ambiance with soft surfaces so the noise level was kept to the background--could carry on a conversation without shouting and hear the relaxing jazz music being played.

Great Thanksgiving dinner at Ray's. They made our time away from home very special. I had the prime rib and it was wonderful. I loved the brussells sprout too. My wife and kid's turkey was equally delicious. The only let down was the coffee. It was on the bitter side. After spending 5 days in Seattle, we had grown accustomed to spectacular coffee. Service and view were wonderful too.

No grace, no charm, no quality, no refinement.

Our fourth time at Ray's, including three Thanksgivings.

We skipped last year...so it was two years since we had been there. Wow...entered to immediate bummer.

We used to enjoy Ray's Boathouse (never the Cafe, which was our first visit) as a mid-level, fine-dining establishment.

This time, the place looked kinda dumpy (hostesses poorly dressed and didn't seem to be enjoying their jobs; scuffed, bare, wooden tables; low-end tableware; unmatched furnishings; and the formerly cool bar, downsized and moved away from the view (ok, we understand if the other configuration was loosing money).

Food prep seemed industrial. (Is the new exec chef from the military or a school cafeteria?). Like the goal was to make it recognizable and edible, but just get it out, with little flavor, imagination or visual appeal. E.g., mushy, defrosted shrimp in the cocktail; soggy inside, dry outside, bland turkey (probably brined---wrong technique to use); bland, plain stuffing and mashed potatoes; unappealing/unevenly cooked green beans; lol--the gravy was a practically invisible stain on the plate, under the meat; serviceable, small bread basket; ok pecan tartelette, practically tasteless pumpkin pie; etc.

The only positives were, the great view, of course, and the decent service. About the only things we ate were the mashed and stuffing. Of course, the server noticed; he handled it well/graciously, and he was reasonably efficient and attentive.

Wont be back unless we read a review saying things have changed, back to at least as good as it used to be. :-(

The occasion was Thanksgiving, made it for 4 a month prior, then 2 days before needed to add 2 more if possible. They said impossible as they were booked. I did not even ask for them to let me know of a cancellation if one came up, and confirmed for 4 anyway, but a couple of days later they graciously made that group of 6 happen for us. We had a fantastic wait person named Daniel.
The food was very good but a bit more money for the occasion offering than I thought they had quoted on phone per person. All in all a good time and venue. Also can see it would be a very romantic place for 2 on those special occasions. We will visit again.

Been there many times. Was a little disappointed with the salmon (undercooked). Everything else was good. Memorable for this occasion (birthday). Service was very good. Surprised there was no valet on a Sunday night (in November).

We went at 5:30pm for an early dinner prior to a concert. We were immediately impressed with the waitress who made modifications to our meals as requested. We had salmon which was probably previously frozen due to the time of year and it did not have any flavor. Salads were good but a $140 bill without any liquor was excessive due to the quality of the main course. Obviously we will not return or recommend Ray’s.

The staff was very good and the service was excellent. However, the prices are pretty spendy (but that's Seattle). The menu is very limited if your don't like seafood and your going along to a seafood restaurant to be nice. Guess you could always fill-up at Dick's before or after.

Outstanding margaritas. The bartender knows how to fix our cocktail (we like it the Bond way, "shaken, not stirred and up w/o ice") It is difficult to find a bartender these days with knowledge and experience. The crab cakes were delectable and our server was courteous and respectful. I will definitely return.

Dinner was great, the only negative ( my 4 stars ratings) was due the our entrees orders somehow getting "lost" somewhere and were really late in arriving. While our server did apologize and did comp us a dessert.. they failed to inform us of the error and instead left us wondering where dinner was. When they did arrive, they were utterly delicious 😋

We recently met up at Ray's Boathouse with some very dear friends of ours, whom we hadn't seen in a few years. We thought: - "Hey, let's celebrate at our FAV restaurant in Seattle for dinner - which is Ray's Boathouse!"
Ray's has never failed us, and we remain big fans of their food, service, view, ambiance, and persevering history in Seattle for many years now! They are simply the best to us! Our meals were so good, we all just raved throughout the entire meal. The scallops were to die for in my case! We had a perfect night, and it was so good to catch up with our friends as well. Thank you Ray's Boathouse...

My husband and I drove to Seattle for some shopping and decided to have dinner afterward. I had once many years ago been to Ray's and suggested dinner there. What an outstanding meal! Gorgeous sunset, seated by the window(on the water) and excellent food! Also, our server was very attentive without being overbearing. We will definitely be back soon! So good!

I've been to Ray's perhaps 6 times over 20 years. It's a quality place. Nice view of the water and Olympic mountains, very quiet, understated elegance. The food has always been great and this night was no exception. All ingredients were fresh and delicious. The waitress was having an off night, and couldn't remember what was on the menu or how some of the dishes were prepared. That was a surprise, as every other time I've been to Ray's, the service has been perfect, not obtrusive or overly familiar/friendly, but totally informed and helpful. It's nice to be able to have a quiet conversation; the acoustics are great. I'll come to Ray's again for a special occasion, but might try someplace livelier with a city view next time.

We had a very nice evening on 10/19/2017 with great friends when we were in Seattle for our daughter's wedding. We live in Maryland and they live in Alabama. We went here as two different people had recommended this place. We stayed almost 3 hours and no one rushed us which we appreciated. Pricey but a very nice restaurant and we all had great meals that included: Halibut, Sablefish, Scallops and Crab with Squid Ink Pasta.
