Four of us ladies met for a Christmas gathering and sat at the window. Such a beautiful view of the ocean and the surface below. The service was amazing and impeccably professional. Three of us ordered ordered the lobster salad. It was truly divine. The lobster was a generous serving, sweet and delicious. We definitely will meet at Raya for future special events.

Everything was pretty much as I expected (which is high expectations) although I felt for the price the food could have been a little bit better. The preparations were in line, but I thought that all of the food was slightly over-seasoned and my sea bass had an awkward 'radish type' vegetable (potentially under-cooked) that could have been replaced with something that would have better brought the dish together. The service was acceptable, but not impeccable. The drinks were fantastic and the ambiance was exceptional.

As always, Raya impresses up to the sky and down again! I give this beautiful restaurant A+ in all aspects of dining. The view of surfers and the Southern California coastline cannot be beat. Of special merit is the delicious chocolate birthday dessert which is always comped.

It really needs an upgrade! Front entrance carpet is filthy dirty and worn out!! Not impressive and definitely not something one would expect at the "Ritz". The edges were all stained and looked like it was worn all the way down. Overall, place looked dated and old and almost cheap.

At the window leaves someone awestruck and quite memerized. Served by the exceptional team of Joel, Maria and EmilyKate. Fog was rolling as we started lunch---this was sinister to some yet to others it presented an opportunity to focus on the "himmelich" presentation of bite sized excellence by Chef Richard Sandoval. Brazilian cheese rolls (4) were the texture of a donut hole yet more velvety (lacking sweetness) with full cheese richness with a crispy crust like exterior. Miso Alaskan Black Cod was divine and so treasured the Professor did not share a bite. Superb (even during lunch) and on my birthday. Thanks to the team at Raya and to Chef Sandoval. Hope to meet you soon.

Service was average not what I would expect from a restaurant at a 5 star resort. Fine dining prices, Cheesecake Factory service. Food was OK. Best thing we’re the Ocean views.

Everything we ordered tasted great, except that the ceviche was a little salty.
The seared scallops, new york steak, swordfish dip, and the lobster tacos were cooked to perfection.

Love dining at RAYA. Our Saturday lunch was lovely. The wait staff accommodating the only glitch was that the service was very slow. Happily we didn't care as we had a great view of the surfers and the beach. The food was excellent!

We went to Raya for the first time to celebrate my birthday. We received an ocean view table at sunset. Best Cilantro Mule and Blu75 cocktail. Lobster tacos are a must have. All items we ordered were amazing. The chef knows how to put his flavor a together perfectly. And get the churros for dessert!

The brunch was good, even for $72. The main problem was the service. I asked on my open table reservation at 11.45am for a table by the windows. I called that morning asking again. While all the tables [which are for four people; we had a party of four] were taken when we arrived, the hostess did zero to tell us how long it would take to wait for such a table or to offer to move us once a table had cleared. This was important and the staff made no effort to accommodate our repeated requests.

We were celebrating my mother's 84th birthday. Our waiter Dean was very pleasant at first, but then become very inattentive. Nobody ever came to see if we needed more drinks or even refilled our water. The food took forever to arrive. We finally had to ask the busman to get our waiter so we could order more wine. He was very busy with other tables around us, but seemed to ignore us when we tried to get his attention. Once we mentioned to our busman that we were unhappy, he suddenly fawned all over us to try an make up for it, but then it was just annoying.
The food is very good, the ambiance is lovely - be sure to arrive before sunset to enjoy the beautiful view.

Receptionist was really bad. We were sorry to make reservation there and drove a long way to have our Labor Day lunch. We had a feeling we were not welcome. We had 11: 30 reservation, arrived 15 minutes earlier, were told to not get in until 11:30 while many empty tables and many others kept getting in even without being asked. We were waiting there, they even had no intention to explain to us after 11:40. When I asked how long to wait, it was a very cold "I don't know". I was trying to think if I've ever hurt them before?

The waiter was so great. He really made us feeling much better. No intention to hurt him when service is rated Poor.

We usually give this restaurant very good reviews on service and food, but this time we selected entrees that were not our usual, and we were disappointed. My lobster and shrimp were overcooked and weak in taste. My wife's salmon was okay, but our friends' Halibut fish dishes were overcooked as well. The lobster tacos appetizers were a winner as usual and the smoked swordfish dip was yummy as well. Coupled with the usual good service and our previous experiences with wonderful dishes, we will obviously not allow the recent disappointment to keep us from returning; after all, everyone has a bad day sometimes.

It was a nice restaurant but was disappointed in the service and how difficult it was as a paying guest of the hotel to get any special accommodation granted. It was my wifes birthday and had made a reservation, called ahead and even spoken to the hotel about making it special by having a window seat. When we got there, they told me we would have to wait approximately 45 minutes and ended up sitting in the back. To top it off when they brought a small piece of cake out for my wife to celebrate (didn't ask for it which was nice), they charged me for the cake on the bill. I have been to a lot of upscale places in my life all over the world, but never has a restaurant charged me for a "surprise" piece of birthday cake. Would not recommend given the staff certainly were not treating us like a 5 star resort should.

We went to the Ritz on Laguna off a recommendation from a friend, and now I feel compelled to pass on that recommendation. The view was amazing for the sunset that evening. The service from Alison was stellar... absolutely honest and genuine, totally in tune to what our needs were. I ordered my cosmopolitan using a "light pink color" description, and she nailed it! Her recommendations for dinner were perfect.
The food was decadent, but light at the same time. The grilled octopus had the perfect char on the outside, but tender on the inside. The scallops with pork belly was the perfect "surf and turf" that Alison recommended. And please do not pass up the crab mashed potatoes!!
Overall, top five meals and experiences of my life.

I was very disappointed in the food. I had the short rib dish and it was smothered in the sauce. It was way too much for the portion of the meat. Also the meat was very chard on all four sides which was unexpected for a short rib. My mother ordered a side of carrots and they brought out a side salad instead. We asked where the carrots was they said they were not ready so they brought out a salad; it was very odd. When the carrots were brought to the table they came in a yogurt sauce, which was not mentioned by the waiter, and they were smothered in the sauce as well.
