Rawley Resort Ratings and Reviews
We tried out this restaurant during the Flavours of Lake Country event. Appetizers were delicious so we anticipated a great "main". However, the pork tenderloin was very tough - I could hardly cut into mine and it was bland as well. The sauce would have added to the taste but there was barely a drizzle of it. My husband's was fine so he gave me a piece of his which was much more tender. In retrospect, I should have had it sent back but wasn't all that hungry so I didn't bother.
We will try this restaurant again sometime as it's a great venue and the service was fine.
The music was awesome! The building was beautiful! My husbands lamb was delicious! Our waiter was spot on! My rice was gummy and undercooked... the waiter offered me Risotto in place of the rice however I said no thanks I don't care for risotto. Sadly we were charged full price for my meal 🙁
First visit and was specific about the reason we were coming. Phone staff was awesome, serving staff not so much. Obviously didn't read booking, wasn't that busy yet service was lacking, specifically asked about menu but no offer of how it was prepared or chef etc. Waited for bill and had to ask. Food was delicious, kudos to the chef!
Wonderful setting on a summer evening at the water's edge with the sun going down. Service was friendly but uneven. Staff seemed preoccupied with a large group wedding rehearsal dinner. Food ok but not noteworthy. Lots of potential here but overall the experience missed the mark.
On a gals day out, July 4th we had Breakfast at Rawley to start our day. The Eggs Benedict were wonderful and it was a nice relaxing atmosphere to enjoy the view and our meal. I was using a gift card, but unfortunately the server (sorry I've forgotten the name), was inexperienced with processing them. After waiting a bit after she took the car, I asked for the card back & she seemed unsure that she had done the transaction correctly and there wasn't any receipt. I called later to explain the situation and see if someone could check it out for me. Although I didn't hear back, I did have someone drop into Rawley a few days later with my card to have the balance checked out. As it turned out nothing had been taken from my card and they would not take payment for the breakfast. Apparently the Assistant General Manager (Kira) was surprised I wanted to look after it. She said not to worry about paying. Unexpected and appreciated. Thank you Rawley Lodge. The Server was very good, so hopefully this did not cause a problem for her.
1st choice wine not available. First food order, 3 duck 1 salmon....no duck. 2nd food order 3 salmon 1 veggie balls...no salmon. 3rd food order 1 halibut, 1 trout, 1 veggie balls, 1 chicken w/mashed potatoes (came with risotto..later brought potatoes wedges) . We felt so sorry for our waitress who had to keep coming back to us telling us what we ordered was not available. We have never been to dinner with such dissatisfaction! Only good thing was our waitress was very apologetic and pleasant given the circumstances
Our meal at Rawley was good (except my rice for the paella was undercooked but the flavour was acceptable). The issue we had was our server who was new (2nd sitting) to the position. She had not been trained appropriately and I put that on the managerial staff, she did not have someone who was supporting her as she was taking and filling orders. There was an abundance of staff but they all seemed disorganized. There was no-one specifically at the bar to prepare and fill the bar orders and so she was at a loss (where the wine was, what wine we had ordered - we had to tell her three times what wine we had ordered). Also my husband ordered a Caesar salad that never arrived. The manager did come around to the various tables and we told her of our dissatisfaction and she offered complimentary desserts. However, when the bill arrived our server had included the desserts but forgot the pre-dinner drinks. This was surprising as the manager was over at the till assisting our server in creating our bill. I'm afraid I will not give this restaurant any further business.
Stayed at the resort for three days. There aren't too many options in the area so my wife and i ended up having two dinners there and three complementary breakfast i three complementary breakfasts. Each time we went service was very slow and the food was just ok. Additionally there are no vegetarian options on the menu but the cheif will toss something together if you ask. It's unfortunate though that none of these options were actually good choices. Based on the prices, you'd think you were dining in a fancy Toronto restaurant however that is far from the case. I'd avoid.
We have eaten at Rawleys in the past and have been extremely happy. One of our favourite restaurants. However, based on this last experience I couldn't have been more disappointed so this rating is based on this most recent visit. We went with friends for the Barrielicious menu. Base on the restricted three course menu we make our selection. Shorty after placing our order the waiter informed us the soup was no longer available (2 out of 4 had ordered the soup). The two settled on the alternative soup option. We felt based on how empty the restaurant was they sure didn't plan well. We no longer got over that when the waiter returned to say one of the main dishes (2 out of 4 had ordered) was no longer available so the two opted for the alternative. We got over that when the waiter returned to say that the dessert (3 out of 4 ordered) was no longer available. By now we were very unhappy with what had transpired. Kindly enough they offered a gift card we could apply to the meal but we went to the restaurant to enjoy the Rawley experience and good food and that sure didn't happen. It was not about the money at this point. All that said the portions were EXTREMELY small. NOT even close to what the portion size that is usually offered at this restaurant. Out of the four of us I was the only person at the table that actually got what I originally ordered. My husband had To settle for alternative choices for all three courses. Bad planning on the restaurants part. I think it would have been wise when the menu options were no longer available to at lease serve a full size portion.
Compared to our experience last year at Barrielicious, this year fell a little short. Service was slower and not as personalized. Not only were we asked to alter our choice for appetizer as there was no more soup available, we overheard other tables being told that some of their choices were no longer available. Considering reservations were required, how can food run out when you know how many people are coming? Don't worry.... we are not giving up on Rawley Resort. This is the first time I am providing feedback because I don't want this establishment to suffer business loss. The environment is beautiful and we know service and food quality can be better, because we have had it before!
Anniversary. Can't believe all the negative reviews on this place from OpenTable. Definitely not our experience! The place oozes charm, stylish warm and welcome ambience, furnishings exquisite, and both servers were uber personable. Food was delicious, warm, timely, and served with great hospitality. Will definitely be back. Shhh ... don't tell too many others though ;-)
Unfortunately they were short of staff but they did an excellent job of trying to ensure we knew in advance and the waitress we had (who is not normally on this job) went above and beyond to try. Our meals were cold but we did comment that the steak was cooked perfectly just didn't get from the kitchen to the table on time. Have eaten here before and this was not an issue so we will put it down to the staff shortages they experienced that day.
The piano entertainment was outstanding and resulted in us moving closer to that area and staying on longer than we had planned for with everyone enjoying the very professional entertainment!
actually, there were 4 of us for a girls dinner and one of the girls dinner arrived stone cold, she sent it back and her dinner did not arrive until the other 3 of us were done eating. It was a little uncomfortable and took way too much time. I think the chef must have started the meal from scratch instead of just reheating. We understand that but it took way too much time to correct the meal.
You did comp her meal so that was a nice thing to do.
We spent one night at the resort and had both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. The restaurant is well appointed and has a nice ambiance. The food at dinner was decent but where things fell quite short was on the service end. We ordered three different desserts, that were on the menu or referenced by our server, that we were later told the restaurant did not have. We were amongst the earliest of seatings so it is unlikely that these choices were items that ran out over the course of the dinner service. There was another incident of not having a menu item during breakfast. I do understand that the kitchen can run out of certain dishes or is temporarily unable to produce a menu item. However, that is something that the servers should know immediately and, if they do, they should be making guests aware of it when the menu is presented. The service at breakfast was also very slow and my wife's eggs Benedict were cold when served. We were not quite sure what was done to warm them up but she was not given a freshly prepared replacement. Notwithstanding our dissatisfaction with not having menu items at dinner or the provision of cold food, no manager or person of any authority responded (candidly, we did not ask to see a manager). It is unclear whether any complaints are made known to those in charge but it did confirm that service is wanting.
Even though we were rated near he kitchen it wasn't like we seated " near the kitchen ".
However, there was too much of gap between appetizers and entrée . The live music made the gap enjoyable at least. The song styling of Adrian Robitaille was the icing on the cake . Very talented and very personable .
I would've liked to be able to request a certain table from a seating chart as we were seated at the back where all the traffic flowed and didn't have a view .
The restaurant was full and somewhat understaffed. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizer and our waitress was serving at the bar and also acting as hostess with many other tables to serve. We came for dinner, planned to have coffee and dessert after but left after our appetizer which was a shame. Hope they can plan better in the future for a full house.
It is a beautiful resort, food is tasty and the wine list is well rounded. However, plan on a three hour dinner if you have three courses. It was fine for us, but if you have plans to go elsewhere after plan on being late. Just sit back and enjoy the piano, and the beautiful sunsets!
Stayed at the resort. Restaurant service was very slow, took over an hour to get our meals every time we ate there which doesnt help when you have young kids. Found a hair in my food the first night, carpaccio was frozen solid the second night, Caesar salad took forever the third night so I ended up cancellig because everyone else was done their dinner. Server didn't hear my order for breakfast on our last day and didn't place it with the kitchen, so spent over 2 hours at the table waiting. Would not recommend.
The piano player was too aggressive, trying to get people to stand at his piano to sing. It made me and my children uncomfortable. The waitress was clueless about lowering the blind as the sun was dropping on the horizon. She lowered it a bit not considering that the sun would continue to drop. We ended up soon after having to lower the blind ourselves.
The food was good. The server seemed to disappear and then reappear with others filling in.
The worst was the noise level even though we were next to a window and far enough from the bar. The noise carries from the bar and waiting area and it was impossible to carry on a conversation especially since my husband is hearing impaired. We had requested a quiet area but it is impossible in this venue. Might be better in the winter.
We spent a wonderful evening here, with friends. Celebrating an anniversary and a 60th birthday. I had read the reviews which described the service as slow. This suited us perfectly. It was relaxed more than slow. Our four meals resulted in four completely cleaned plates. The deserts were great. We will be returning for more soon.
We were there as a family of four with 2 young kids. We waited over half an hour for our main meal to come and when it did we were missing the kids' meals. I was told that the chef had burnt the kids' pizzas so whilst the adults food was served, we had to wait another 30 minutes for the kids' meals to appear. This meant our meals were cold by the time the kids were served. Waiting an hour for food with 2 young kids is challenging and when the food finally came my daughter was too tired to eat. The food looked good, and I'm sure would have tasted great had it been hot. Cold food, an hours' wait and poor service sums up our meal.
This was a tale of 2 dinners for me. The food was good, but painfully slow. To be fair, there was a function going on that evening, but we had a later reservation and there were not many other people in the restaurant. My appetizer (grilled calamari) was excellent when it arrived, but between ordering drinks and receiving our entree, almost 90 minutes went by. My steak ordered rare arrived medium well, but I didn't want to send it back just because of the timing. My family enjoyed their entrees. They did give me a discount for the overcooked steak which was nice.
