Raven's Restaurant - Stanford Inn by the Sea Ratings and Reviews
While we are not vegan - and far from it - my husband and I were intrigued by the vegan options and decided to try it for ourselves. We were certainly not disappointed. Their bar selections were outstanding, and my husband commented that his Moscow Mule was the best one he had had. We shared a salad to start, and it was thoughtfully split and arrived on separate plates. The entrees just continued our excellent experience. The BBQ oyster mushroom sliders were the highlight followed a close second by the sea kale strudel. We were too full for dessert! The evening was made that much more special since we were able to bring our two pups right into the dining room with us. It's sometimes a challenge when travelling with furry friends, but The Ravens was welcoming in every way possible. I highly recommend it !
We absolutely love The Ravens and are always amazed at how reasonable the prices are, given the nature of the food - local, healthy, vegan, etc. The atmosphere is lovely - particularly during the holidays when it looks especially elegant, warm, and cozy. We will go here whenever we are in the area.
Vegan meals which were excellent. We bought the cookbook they have in their gift shop. New Years eve, so they were busy. The waiter made a mistake on our order but quickly corrected it. He also made a mistake on the bill which the management caught and corrected before running the charge card. The restaurant is casual in atmosphere with lots of hard surfaces so is a bit noisy but not to a point where we could not have a conversation. We would definitely return.
Fantastic, attentive service, perfect place for a fancy date night! The dishes we ordered were beautifully plated, especially the kale salad. Our favorite appetizer was the Rustic Flatbread, and we loved the amuse-bouche. Don't miss the coconut crème brûlée for dessert! Great atmosphere, especially the fireplace in the lobby. We will be making reservations again in the future!

Food is surprisingly poor quality for the price and setting. Our meals tasted like a home chef (‘chef’ is probably too strong a word) prepared them— and not a talented one. I know vegan cuisine has its limitations but surely it’s possible to prepare tasty and even elegant vegan fare? Our dinners were so disappointing that we passed on the free breakfasts that came with our stay at the hotel. Owners would do well to hire a professional chef. Beautiful hotel but eat elsewhere unless you must eat vegan and are prepared for a 2-star rather than a refined dining experience.
Excellent vegan cuisine. One of my best dining experiences ever. Very fresh cuisine. Wonderfully attractive kale salad. I felt terrific after dinner here. Highly recommended for all - vegan, vegetarian especially. Interesting books to read too. Coconut creme brulee terrific for the lactose intolerant.
I expected more from the menu for the price AND considering it's a vegan restaurant. I've eaten at Cafe Gratitude and Millenium, two places that can justify their prices because they're delicious. Raven's wasn't all that. The server was great and the view was phenomenal, which are the only reasons why I gave Raven's a generally good rating.
We really enjoyed the Portabella Enchiladas and Butternut Squash Tamales. While the Sea Palm & Root Vegetable Strudel was beautifully presented and apparently is a signature dish, we did not care for the flavor. We thought that the Spinach and Herbed Ricotta Ravioli should have had more flavor. All of our breakfasts were excellent. While the desserts were tasty, we wish they did not include refined sugar and oils (which the Ravens Cookbook lists in some dessert); we try to avoid these ingredients for health reasons. We shall return.
We chose Ravens for our wedding anniversary dinner and as always the food exceeded our expectations. Plenty of gluten-free items to choose from, the dishes were beautifully presented and the flavors well balanced. A healthy, nurturing and elegantly prepared meal. Loved the "Rustic Flatbread" the tomatoes were at their peak of ripeness, "Kale Salad" with cauliflower ceviche, innovative. Service was at a perfect pace.
We celebrated my daughter's birthday. This restaurant was very special. You felt the kitchen was making innovative, thoughtful dishes that made sense, brought joy and were fully satisfying (the portions were surprisingly ample). Ditto for the service. The ambiance (the restaurant is part of an inn) is lovely: bright yet understated, artistic yet comfortable and calming. Definitely full price, but we felt we paid for a special experience that was delivered!
Did not know vegan food could be so good! Really a fabulous meal. We had apps, entres and desserts...cause we wanted to try as much as possible...and all was so yummy. If I had to pick, the kale salad and choc dessert were my fav. Informative, friendly staff. Bought the cookbook too.
Really interesting vegan menu. I can honestly say that I didn't miss the meat! Try the trumpet mushroom 'pulled pork. It is used in the tamales and it has the perfect texture to fool anyone. Only fault I could find is some of the veggies are served under one. Esp. Kale which is too chewy to be appetizing. It is definitely worth a try
