Ravenous Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Immediately upon stepping through the door we were pleasantly surprised. It’s small and quaint but it makes the experience that much better. Conversation was quiet, I barely heard anyone else’s and was able to talk to my husband in a normal tone. The ambiance was such a nice change from a “normal” restaurant. It was romantic and perfect for our date night. Food prices were more than we expected, but in my option well worth it. Our server (April) was fantastic. She did a great job, perfect balance between helping us and also letting us enjoy our meal and night. And our glasses were never empty. All in all a fantastic dining experience, will definitely be back.
We were looking for a special occasion but not-too-stuffy place for a birthday dinner and read great reviews for Ravenous. It is located in a strip mall but offers an oasis of calm among the chaos. Everything about the meal was on point, from the friendly greeting and lovely decor to the warm crusty bread and delicious appetizers (crab cakes and salad).
Entrees of steak and of salmon risotto were fantastic as well, as were the wines and desserts although I think desserts were less special -but that could have been because we were completely stuffed to the gills at that point. (lemon cheesecake was great!)
Overall a really impressive leisurely multi course dinner in an unexpected area of Sacramento.
Ravenous is the epitome of a thoughtful menu, exceptional cuisine, intelligent service with a rhythm that gently lifts one up from their every day routine. ( Our latest joy: The potato-leek soup and Chilean Sea Bass.) The absolute kicker is that this lovely experience takes place in a neighborhood retail center, and all its sophistication is delivered in the most friendly, non-stuffy way. Nothing can take the place of giving your highest and best effort to delivering perfection. That's art. Wade and April: Don't change a thing! ~Your Elk Grove Fan Club
There is a reason why it is rated the best food in Sacramento -- it is! Sophisticated palates won't be disappointed. Simple palates won't be overwhelmed. Ravenous is in a funky location and yet, once inside, you are transported into a fine dining experience. They way the chef combines ordinary flavors with a little pop of the unexpected, the results dazzle. If you order the chocolate mousse for dessert, you will have a very difficult time stopping at just one. (Recipe has been handed down through a couple of generations.)
This cozy small bistro has a great ambience and the host and sever is the owner. The food and presentation is excellent and will have you coming back again. Hats off to his excellent chief,. Get your reservations in early as the owner takes only so many reservations per day and that is it. We had a great experience for our anniversary and in our neighborhood the pocket also.
Had not been here in quite awhile as it is a jaunt for me but well worth the trip. Menu well thought out something to please everyone. Small space was very well utilized. Service was great music in the background not overbearing. All our food appetizer, entrees and dessert were excellent. I will have to make a point to return despite the drive.
We love the food at Ravenous. Next we love the welcome and service from April and Wade. We have never been disappointed by either. Ravenous has THE best cheesecake. The salmon and Chiliean sea bass were cooked perfectly presented beautifully. Also loved our escargot, mussels, and salads. Ravenous is a real hit with us.
A smallish intimate setting, with first class attention to food and service. We had heard this was a great neighborhood find and traveled out of our way to try it. It was worth it, and we'll look for excuses to drop in again. The halibut special, the duck, the mussels, etc all wonderful.
We have been to Ravenous probably 10 times in the last year always for lunch. It is in a nondescript strip mall however the experience is nowhere near nondescript. The food is far better than most "It" San Francisco which are overpriced and overlauded. The quality is superb , presentation beautiful without being frou frou, the individual flavors in a dish stand out separately without being overwhelming. The beet salad and cheesecake are my go to's and every entree I've tried has even delicious with wonderful visual and textural combinations. I should also mention that the owner is very affable, low key, paces things well and builds a nice personal banter with the customers. I only wish he would add the scallops to the lunch menu since they look delicious and I'd love to try them. You will not be disappointed.
Great place to take friends from out of town - yes, Sacramento has fabulous restaurants and
Ravenous is one of the best. Always great taste comes first, coupled with healthy, creative food.
The salmon risotto is terrific and the halibut is a good size portion seasoned perfectly. Top of the class - and staff who are professional and friendly.
Perfect choice for our Anniversary dinner. We enjoyed and appreciated all of the dishes. The flavors in each dish were unique, interesting and delicious. Atmosphere was cozy, yet with a touch of elegance and the owner provided just the right amount of individual attention. Are recommending to all our friends.
I try to go to Ravenous Cafe whenever I can. Wade is the consummate host, and the food is marvelous. This past visit I had alench special that was pan-seared scallops on a delicious base of risotto. Also there is an eclectic, well-chosen wine list at reasonable prices.
