Ravenous Cafe Ratings and Reviews
I try to go to Ravenous Cafe whenever I can. Wade is the consummate host, and the food is marvelous. This past visit I had alench special that was pan-seared scallops on a delicious base of risotto. Also there is an eclectic, well-chosen wine list at reasonable prices.
This is an unusual and delightful eating place. It combines a menu providing a variety of intriguing options that can be freshly prepared in a small, tasteful restaurant. The service is exceptional -- friendly and personal --, the food is wonderfully prepared and of the highest quality, the menu is creative within a traditional constraint. A delightful place for a special - or any - night out.
Ravenous restaurant is an absolute five star restaurant. Wayne the owner and April the hostess are absolutely superb.
Robert the chef is absolutely amazing.
The food is spectacular the wine list is great. The overall value is wonderful. It has a wonderful intimate setting.
Wade and April make you feel as if you are enjoying a private meal. The quality of the food and the service is absolutely outstanding.
We highly recommend this restaurant.
Great hidden gem in Greenhaven/Pocket area. There aren't many, if any, restaurants in the area like this one. Close to where we live so if we want good, fine dining food, this is the place to go. Even if you have to travel some distance, I think it is worth it. The owner, Wade, is very personable and the waitress is very pleasant.
My only regret is that we did not try this place a long time ago. Fabulous food and service, great for quiet conversation. If you want a vibrant bar or party scene this is not the place for you. This is a fabulous neighborhood restaurant with excellent food and service where you will be remembered by name every time you go. This is not a place to "get something to eat". This is where you go to "dine."
The only negative thing I could say is that the scenery out the window is nothing special. I would NOT expect a restaurant with this caliber of food in a strip mall. But there it is and practically walking distance from our home in Pocket. This is a higher end restaurant but you get what you pay for when it comes to quality of food and service.
I highly recommend to everyone who lives in the Pocket and nearby neighborhoods as a neighborhood gem. Also worth the drive for such fabulous food and service.
Planning to try brunch soon! I hear that is not to be missed.
A fantastic restaurant and a fantastic host in Wade. It is a real pleasure to eat in a restaurant that has its focus on the food and service. This is what all restaurants should be like. The service and attentiveness provided by Wade and April was excellent. We can't wait to go back.
First time visit. We were curious about all the good reviews and can say we concur. We split the Halloumi cheese appetizer which came as 4 pieces and was phenomenal. My wife had the duck breast with a tamarind sauce. She raved about the sauce. I had the pan seared filet mignon. I am not usually a fan of this cut as it is usually mushy and not as flavorful as other cuts. It had a perfect sear and a tender but meaty texture. Probably as good as I have ever had. Desert was a nice finishing touch. The wine list is inexpensive and adequate. April our waitress was pleasant and remembered our names. We will be back with friends.
We went last Saturday for my wife's birthday. We started with escargot and crab cakes, both were exceptional. Be sure to get extra bread for the escargot sauce! I had the beer salad and duck, wife had the risotto, my son had the filet and daughter had a salad - she's so picky! And then we had 4 different deserts.
It's an amazing place in a neighborhood strip mall next to 24 Hour Fitness, Pizza Guys and Subway! A true hidden gem
Food and service were exceptional. My wife had the duck, I the grilled salmon salad. Both were cooked to perfection and the seasonings were superb. Server was very knowledgeable, friendly and knowledgeable. Water and bread were provided and refreshed without asking. Lemon sorbet put a perfect finish on a perfect meal. The creamiest sorbet I have eaten, and full of flavor. We will certainly return.
Ravenous Café never disappoints! A Greenhaven neighborhood gem I consider one of the best restaurants in the city. Excellent food, impeccable service and a delightful atmosphere provide the perfect combination for those who truly appreciate good food. While I understand it's because not enough people were ordering it, my only disappointment is that they no longer serve foie gras.
Ravenous Cafe is a neighborhood gem - the Pocket area's only. It is small, quiet & tucked in a strip mall with dicey parking. The owner is gracious & welcoming. The menu is small but always fresh, seasonal & delicious. Prices are fair for the quality of the food. Worth the drive!
A great neighborhood gem with consistently great food and service. I love having something like this in my neighborhood. Going to midtown is fine, but it's nice knowing that you don't have to leave the neighborhood for great food. I also like that it is very quiet for lunch, which is good for my parents who are older and hard of hearing. A solid choice.
Our second visit to Ravenous and we were not disappointed. This is a small restaurant with exceptional cooking and very personable service. We had one of the specials that night...the grilled halibut and it was really good. Tender and very moist.
It was a very hot Sacramento evening and the restaurant was a bit on the warm side...but all in all it is a place I can highly recommend. It's out of the way..sort of tucked away in a small strip mall area, but don't let that deter you.
