A nice place with the famous Pacific Northwest hospitality.
My water carafe is never empty, they will give you a new one if it is empty.
A splendid evening, excellent food, wonderful service friendly atmosphere.
I have been twice and can't wait to go a third time to try out another menu option. Food, presentation, staff, and atmosphere are all great and well worth the trip. The building is an unexpected gem nestled between high-rise buildings.
Don't usually review these restaurants, but my experience at Raven & Rose was somewhat baffling. The food was good and the location nice, but our server, who I will refer to as "Angry Man" was strangely out of place. From the initial approach to our table to the closing of the bill, Angry Man seemed barely able to keep his rage in check. Never once asked me if I wanted a drink (which I'm still trying to understand) and would not look at me though he did acknowledge my two dining companions. Did I do something to offend you, Angry Man? Our food was good, as I said, but the experience was so strange! Angry Man, please, if you are really that unhappy, you need to find another job. I hope you cheer up soon!
Disappointed. Went for late lunch. Staff was very vocal in the kitchen goofing around, singing loudly with the music. . Fish and Chips was disappointing, slaw was dry and flavorless. I don't plan on returning.
Great place for brunch. Vivian, our server, was superb. Always have a very enjoyable experience when we go for brunch, and she serves us.
Corned beef hash plate is very good, and done nicely. Couldn't ask for a better time..
Fabulous food and drinks. Great place for before or after the theater. Will definitely return.
We dined at Raven and Rose before a show nearby. This was the second time we'd eaten there. The first time we were there before a show as was the occasion this time. We ate at the bar previously and liked it a lot. The wood-fired flat bread is amazing. The bar produces great mixed drinks. And we had the venison with huckleberry compote. All excellent. This second time we ate at a table instead of the bar and found the noise level to make conversation difficult. I think the next time we go there as a couple we will make it a point to sit at the bar. Conversation was much easier side by side then across the table. Altogether a very positive experience.
Very welcoming host, very good food, and excellent service. Vivian attend to all our needs, and made the visit a wonderful, pleasant one. We will be back every Sunday for brunch.
First and foremost, the service was excellent. Daniel and (I think) Rochelle were our servers on a rather quite Saturday Night. It was the starlight parade so that made sense. The hostess we charming and all was rather comfortable.
The food was exceptional. Presented beautifully, all properly sequenced, and delicious.
The only, an if you could even call it an issue, were the prices. I would put them on par with another higher end restaurant in a BIG city. One could say that from the bar up - the prices were on the higher end. Possibly $5-7 more per they could be. This certainly ensures the clientele is of a certain style; however, it's a bit off putting to pay $14 for a manhattan and $42 for the seafood board? (the board had a very small ramekin of mussels, 4 medium grilled shrimp, 2 slices of a grilled fish; and one small grilled tentacle. This price was a bit shocking (it said market price on the menu which is fine, but I was a bit shocked as it was WAY OVER the entrees which were $26 and $30 - a bit high but not shocking.) Mind you, it was delicious, but $42? That's steak house insanity.
The butterscotch pudding was heaven like. If a bathtub could be filled with it, I would be quite satisfied. Smooth, perfectly sweet and smokey, and just the perfect size. (BTW, that was $10 which is pretty customary.)
So, overall - AMAZING!! Love this place (and we've been here before; just now, we will not be as shocked by the prices. BTW, also about price, the portions are perfect. Not too big, not too huge. All else, just right.
Outstanding in every way - great food, great atmosphere, great / frinedly service. We had an extremely delightful evening and meal.
Fantastic food, marvelous cocktails (including some rarely-found classics from as far back as the late 1800s), and great ambiance, whether downstairs or upstairs in the Rookery. The service is warm, friendly and knowledgeable. Zach’s lore and expertise is a great asset to any evening, regardless the occasion.
The food was good and clearly quality ingredients. Non-alcoholic brunch for two was 70$, which is a bit steep even considering the location downtown. Black/white pudding and sausage portions were quite small, but tasty. Breakfast beans had a bit too much vinegar for my taste. Donut muffins were delicious but maybe overboard with clarified butter depending on your tolerance. Coffee and service was excellent. Very clean place with a good ambiance.
Beautiful building. We enjoyed cocktails upstairs first then dinner. Hosts were attentive and friendly. Unfortunately our server seemed to be juggling too much. We were there for over 3 hours waiting a lot for beverages and food. Two of us ordered steak medium rare: one came back rare, the other well done. We sent the well done back. When it finally arrived it too was rare. Our server seemed to disappear and was somewhat condescending. She may not realize this is how she comes across. The hosts repeatedly checked on us and were apologetic for the food mishap which was appreciated. We were all disappointed and will probably not return which is unfortunate.
We had a very nice meal. The staff was extremely welcoming and efficient. I would have liked to see a less protein-heavy set of entrees (besides a single all-vegetable entree--root vegetables on squash noodles). The flatbread/cheese appetizer was way too salty. Nevertheless, I would happily go back again.
Do yourself a favor and have the halibut.
Our R&R experience turned out to be one of the best restaurant s we've had in Portland. The food was great. I think the rabbit dish might be my favorite dish in all of Portland. We were given what seemed to be the best seating in the house, two bar seats overlooking the restaurant. But it was the perfect professional service of the bartender that really made the evening.
A really enjoyable evening sitting at the counter watching the chefs at work. As Brits we enjoyed the pub atmosphere - more gastro pub than traditional but done so well. Great atmosphere, excellent service and food in a cool space - upstairs looks fun too! That's for our next visit to coincide with some live music.
Went to celebrate Mother’s Day. Waiting too long for food, “10-15 minutes” was what we heard until at arrived 1 hour and 20 minutes after ordering.
Derek the General Manager couldn’t handle our complaint, he raised his voice to us and walked away, never again to come back to our table.
They did comp our meal, even though we said on two occasions we wanted to pay.
Very disappointed with the service from this reputable establishment.
We celebrated my son's college graduation with brunch. Everything was lovely. We had a private table for 10 in a corner. The cocktails were amazing. The food was lovely. I would highly suggest this restaurant to anyone. We had two children in our party and they loved the food they ordered as well.
I have also been here another time but upstairs in the amazing bar. I love the bar! Again the cocktails are amazing and the ambiance is amazing. The bar food is delicious. I was able to get a seat on the couch near the fireplace. So fun!
We are definitely "foodies" who live in Vancouver but drive to Portland for the food. This is by far our newest & best find! Everything we ordered was amazing, from the chicken pate to the lemon dessert. My husband had the 3 way rabbit which was so moist and delicious. I had the pasta which was fresh with local mushrooms & pea pods. We will definitely be back very soon!
Service was great and the waiter steered us to wonderful recommendations. Would definitely go back.
It was really nice! Bistro Agnes steak was memorable, this was good, but not that good.
This was my first time at Raven and Rose, and I was impressed with the classy ambience, the attentive service and the delicious food.
It was an amazing dinner at the Raven & Rose on Friday, April 27, 2018. We are all appreciate for good food and an amazing service 👍🏻 We all will come back soon ❤️
We’ve been before and have always enjoyed the restaurant. Food great. Service just okay. Will come again....probably.
Food and service good. Your wine prices are way to high, need a better selection at the lower price point level. There is no reason that most wines are three or four times the price of the entree. This is NOT good dining value and a deterrent to return very often.
Wonderful dining experience! The menu offered a good selection. Every item we ordered was an excellent dish. The restaurant is located close to the center of downtown so it is a perfect for pre-dining before attending any events at the local Schnitzer or Keller Theaters (and let them know if you're attending any event so you won't get pressed for time.)
I loved this place. Will definitely be back. Hostess is warm and friendly. Sat us immediately. Waiter was awesome. Very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was AWESOME. We all cleaned our plates! Would definitely recommend.
Good food, good service.
We had a great time sitting at the bar with Zach, our bartender and all around amazing human. He took such great care of us and was a font of knowledge. The food and drink was delicious and I can’t wait to come back.
Though somewhat more expensive than we anticipated, the food, drinks and service were outstanding. The venison I had was tender and delicious, served with wild mushrooms. Hubby's pork chop was also very good. If your up for a very upscal;e meal, I would not hesitate to recommend Raven and Rose.
Not a great experience. Abrupt and unapologetic staff. Left off essential ingredient to breakfast and had to wait for it while all our food got cold.
Birthday brunch. Menu selection was great. Space is cute and quaint!
Excellent service, excellent food and love the quaint atmosphere! Definitely will return again!
The food was great! The service for the price was not as attentive as you would like. We were seated for more than 5 minutes before wait staff approached our table . It was another 5 minutes before a drink order was taken. Only down side of the night was our server. The support staff for the server were great.
We will be back. It may have just been an off night for our server.
Was looking forward to a nice meal in the old carriage house before a show at the Keller with my daughter the other night. I had never tried Raven and Rose. I made a reservation in advance. The food was very good by fine dining standards, however, the waiter steered us away from the pork and beef saying they would take too long to prepare. He informed us of the special (scallops) but failed to note the price. I chose the special, which was delicious and well-portioned, however, it was $42. I felt this was rather overpriced. Had I known that, I would have ordered something else. Next time, I'll ask what the price is before ordering. My daughter ordered the pasta, which she said was delicious. Also, when I asked for a vodka martini with a specific vodka, he stated he had an alternative brand, to which I readily agreed. When it was time to pay the bill, there was an upcharge of $2 for the vodka as part of the cocktail. I didn't appreciate not being told. Was a nice place to try "British/Irish" cuisine, but I won't be going back to the restaurant. There are better places to have a nice meal. I might try the Rookery, however, for happy hour sometime.
Quaint and charming. Sat at Chef’s counter and was so impressed by wood-fired oven pizza skills of the chef. Great service from the wait staff.
