The menu had changed since the last time we were there. Brunch choices were interesting and our party of five all found something we enjoyed. Service was excellent - attentive but not hovering.

Great dinner, we were a little rushed for time due to an engagement at the Schnitzer. Food and service were great. The only downside was the noise, hard to communicate at our table. Try the Scallops or the Lamb Shank.

Loved the atmosphere and central to downtown. But I was disappointed with the Shepherds pie. It was soupy and the potatoes thin. I would have to xpected a better shepherd’s pie at a restaurant with a British theme.

Food and service were very good, we asked for a quiet table and it provided. We were going to the theatre and the waitperson was very conscious of our time restraint.

Celebrated our birthdays here at our favorite table. We were lucky enough to have Derek take care of us and get us on our way to see a show. They do such a great job with the beet salad and the fisherman's board so those are a must and did not disappoint. Another standout was the sticky pudding dessert. We always enjoy ourselves here, especially when the weather turns cold and we want someplace cozy for dinner.

We were a party of 4 for Thanksgiving and we sat in the upstairs bar area. The service, cocktails and food we great! The bartender was amazing and new a lot about their selection. I had the vegetarian option and it was delightful.

This restaurant had a prix fix menu for Thanksgiving. Our party of 4 had a 6:30 reservation and were seated immediately. Staff was friendly and welcoming albeit in a bit of rush to finish service (overheard last seating at 7:00). Did ask for slower pace after appetizers but were informed that entrees were already submitted. When the food arrived, it was lukewarm at best but we did not send back as we knew it was all pre-cooked. Based on reviews, we expected more from this restaurant (especially at $70/pp). Overall, we were very disappointed and would not return for a holiday meal.

I got at the restaurant at 1:00 PM when it opened. I had a reservation. It was my first Thanksgiving dinner with my fiancé and I asked for a booth table on the window. The restaurant was empty. They told me they couldn’t do that. So they put us between a noisy group of 8 with kids and a group of 10. Meanwhile window booths sat empty entire time we were there. To add insult to injury they mandated a minimum 18% tip. I won’t go back. I paid $169 for lousing customer service by people who didn’t care less about my experience.

I really enjoyed coming to Raven & Rose! It's a great place if you want to treat yourself to a fantastic meal. Everything I had was cooked to perfection, and the portions were perfect. I really appreciated that the hostess and our server inquired whether we had a show to get to, it shows how very considerate they are of their guests' time. We did not have a show to get to, so we enjoyed a slow, and quiet dinner. I will definitely come back here when I am back in town!

Great spot, great service but not great food, and not great value. Partially our fault as the server tried to discourage us from ordering the gnocchi but we ordered it anyway (comes with jumbo prawns). It had a very shrimpy taste that lingered. I wonder if the sauce is made with mussel broth? It was ok that it was such a small portion for the cost because you would not have wanted to eat any more. It's like they are trying to tell you "Don't order gnocchi at a british/irish restaurant you dope!" One piece of my fish was undercooked and I sent it back. It came back from the kitchen cooked well and not overdone, with some new "chips" which was very nice. Overall, however, the fish was tasteless. Also $14 for a beet salad that had maybe 10 bites. On top of that they were out of the baked pretzel (?) really? Appreciated that they allowed us to order off the Rookery menu for one teen that wanted a hamburger.

The food was very good although I was a little surprised with the cost. With tip it was just under $200 for 2. Of course we did each have a couple of drinks, plus one dessert. They charge for bread which is the first place I’ve ever been charged for bread prior to dinner. All in all it was a great place to go pre-theater.

I had the salmon special with saffron hollandaise. To say it was tremendous is an understatement. The salmon was prepared perfectly--the skin was delightfully crispy and sounded like a potato chip crunching as I put my fork through it. Every bite was better than the rest. Chef Mondok curates food like nobody else in Portland. His passion for vibrant flavors and picturesque presentation make Raven & Rose one of my favorite dining experiences in Portland.

Most of the food was quite good, however one steak dinner came cold and they forgot to bring a steak knife. We had to get up and chase someone down for the knife, which was reflective of the mediocre service in general. So by the time the steak was cut, it was really cold and rare instead of med-rare. The waiter did apologize and fix it, but my wife pretty much finally got her meal while we were halfway done. For a place in this price range, I would expect the place to adjust the bill for those kind of mistakes. I can think of a few places in the Portland area that have better steak, with a better sauce, has a larger cut, with vegetables for the same price or less.

The food was always good and sometimes incredibly unique combinations of flavors. The service was very friendly, though it definitely missed the finer points. ( Our small plates were whisked away before the appetizer arrived so we were sharing it across a table from the platter. We were asked if we wanted bread and one of us replied us but none was delivered. Also, a request to see the wine list again was forgotten initially.) Despite the shortcomings, the server personalities won us over. While we were hopping for an older, cozy, heritage atmosphere, the decor felt more like corporate hotel restaurant. Despite all this, the food carries through and we will be back again. (Note, however, that the bar is more comfortable and accessible, though loud and often crowded around happy hour.)

The big issue is value for money. Menu items are overpriced and undersized. Wine list is mediocre and even more overpriced than the food menu. The food itself is good, but the value for money just is not there.

I had an undeniable craving for a proper English breakfast like my dear old grandmother used to make. An exhaustful search of the various menu's around the metro area finally led us to an amazing brunch at Raven & Rose. The coffee was wonderful, the food delightful and satisfying, and the service was absolutely wonderful. It was a solid win.

Here's what I wrote on Yelp:

The restaurant makes creative and sensitive use of its mid-19th century building. Its menu is interesting and attractive.  The food we had (the double pork chop, the tomato bisque soup, and the green salad) was delicious, beautifully presented, and while pricey, worth the cost.

The same cannot be said for the wine.  The list is short.  The prices simply extortionate.  We chose the least expensive bottle on order ($45) and it was mediocre French red.  Most offerings were three figures.  It's a shame that the management of such an attractive and successful restaurant thinks its a good idea to make the price of an evening out a shock to any but the most well-padded budget.
