Raven & Rose
We also believe that everything is better when it is handmade. We are dedicated to making everything that we can in-house, daily and by hand. Our kitchen produces fresh pastas, pastries, crackers, soups and sauces. We butcher steaks, roasts, rabbits, birds, and fish in-house everyday. We believe it is all worth the effort, and we hope you will taste the difference!
The Raven and Rose is decorated in a rustic style, but what stood out were the service and food.
My girlfriend got a corned beef hash that she and I both declared the best we'd ever had, and I got a Yorkshire pudding French toast that was delightfully smooth and delicious.
Service was attentive, friendly, and very cheerful.
I think a return visit or two (or more) is warranted to make a further survey of the menu.
we loved the service and our food was great. i had salmon and my husband had the pork chop. the buttterscotch pudding was delish. drinks a bit over priced but thats all . i loved the open kitchen.
Amazing cocktails, great food. Was slightly disappointed the cheese plate was not local at all (all European), but fabulous. Always is.
We completely enjoyed our 40th Anniversary dinner at Raven & Rose. The food was outstanding, the service was as good as it could possibly be and we enjoyed everything. At times we felt we had three servers bringing us our food. They recognized our occasion with special touches like after-dinner drinks on the house.
We're looking forward to our next visit.
The service and food was awesome. Loved the decor and the ambiance of the restaurant. Great place to meet people before going to a performance at Lincoln Hall or any event around that area. Looks like a fun place to meet friends and hang out in the bar as well.
The food and service were both excellent. It was a very enjoyable dinner.
Excellent meal with good value and solid service . My husband and I enjoyed.
Everyone raved about how it was the best and tenderest beef they had ever had. The Yorkshire pudding was just a little burnt. Still, it was a great experience and our out-of-town guests were very happy about the Raven & Rose.
It’s my go to place for downtown lunch meetings. Great service and solid lunch fare. Just a really good business lunch experience.
I had friends in from out of town who wanted a meet up for a Portland dining experience, What better than the iconic Raven & Rose? You did not disappoint!! Great ambiance, great architecture, great staff & fantastic food. The only feedback is your house Pinot (Appliloni) was weak- literally tasted watered down- our service person immediately replaced it with the house red from Cana’s Feast. Thanks for a great evening.
Excellent food great service
Food was ok. Pretty expensive given the quality. There are better choices in Portland for the price
The staff was very helpful getting us seated, and the wait staff was very good. The flatbread and Caesar salad were perfect. The only disappointment was the root vegetable gratin. It was VERY good, but for $26 it was so small, just a few bites actually. Delicious, but way too expensive. All in all a great spot.
Great music in a nice setting. Food was good. Desert selection not impressive tho.
Great atmosphere. And if the restaurant is a little too calm, you an always go upstairs to the vibrant and bustling bar.
The food at Raven and Rose is unusual--not the sort of normal lunch menu one sees elsewhere. I had a crispy trout sandwich, excellent; my friend had a Fisherman's Pie, equally delicious.
Food was excellent. Enjoyed mussels with fennel and bacon, followed by a pork chop cooked perfectly. Nice house wines by the glass to accompany the meal. Eton Mess is a lovely summer dessert and so rarely offered!
Pretty good food and ambiance. Some of the worst service I’ve experienced in Portland unfortunately. It took a very long time for anyone to check on us after we sat down, then after we ordered, the food took a really long time which I’ve definitely experienced in Portland before and if that were the extent of it, I wouldn’t be writing this review. We had to ask what the specials were because our waitress was not about to. Nobody checked on us for the long while that it took for our food to come out. After our food came out and we finished our meals, it took an extra 30 minutes for anyone to come grab our dirty plates. It was a special occasion so we wanted dessert. After waiting forever, we had to ask for the dessert menu from someone who was actively walking away from our table. The dessert took an extra 30 minutes to come out. Then of course like 30 more minutes before our dessert plate was taken away. I just couldn’t believe how bad this was. I’ve been to many restaurants in Portland, even ones that were jam packed and slow and I have to say this was the worst service I’ve ever experienced. They weren’t even very busy when we were there. The food was fine but for 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert our total was $150 and I have to say that the experience really really wasn’t worth it.
Excellent food and super service. Very creative specials, we loved the seafood board and the seasonal melon bowl was great. The host and our waitress were very accommodating and genuinely friendly.
The food, ambience and atmosphere was delightful. I would return and recommend this restaurant to my friends.
My darling and I celebrated our twelfth anniversary at Raven & Rose, chosen because we met when we were living in Ireland. The food was just out of this world. Ingredients so fresh and perfectly composed of delicious and beautiful flavors and colors. The menu was perfect, small but varied, with good choices for vegetarians. We had theater tickets so had only an hour to dine. My one regret was not having time for dessert. We returned after the play to check out the bar upstairs, but were too tired to stick around. I wish they took better care of their tables. We sat in one of their lovely booths. Our table was badly damaged with a crack and big spot of missing varnish. Otherwise, a perfect night out!
Raven and Rose will always be one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. Food that you will not find except if you are traveling in Europe can be found here. All portions are generous and mixed drinks are good.
Great service. Nice job handling old bottles of wine that i brought in for dinner. Food was wonderful. Pace
If food to table was right on! Made our anniversary dinner with kids very special!!
Always a delight. Great food and outstanding service.
Jessica made sure that everything was perfect for our parent’s wedding anniversary!
As always, everything was great! I haven't been in a couple of years because I moved to wine country, but am glad I met my friend there. She had the Bean Toast, and at every bite she said, "Yum, it's SO good!" I had the Beef Hash, and I don't know what they do to it to make every bite so flavorful, but I loved it!
The food was delicious, as was the service. Great date night spot.
Incredible food, great atmosphere. Plan to go again for special occasions.
Went on a Sunday and expected a full lunch menu and was informed that they only serve brunch on Sundays. We were definitely disappointed but still had a good experience.
Food was amazing and seating plentiful which is very appreciated in a city where brunch is very popular.
Every standard of service and quality is met every time I visit this restaurant. Their staff is genuine in their desire to serve and their product is outstanding. In the restaurant business it takes more than just one element or even two to create an overall "experience." Over the years I have found that the house that is Raven and Rose consistently hits it out of the park. They work hard at their craft and it shows.
Limited menu, noisy music, excellent service, food was excellent, wine very expensive for a house wine
The green salad on the dinner menu needed more vinaigrette dressing...it was hardly dressed at all. The chicken liver pate starter and the salmon special were excellent. Very welcoming host. We'll return.
Dinner before chamber music. Attentive staff helped to meet timeline and needs of elderly friend.
e excellent but it was noisy. Hard to carry on a nice quiet conversation over a delicious meal.
This was my first time ever at Raven and Rose. There was a very large table next to us that clearly took precedence over us, and in fact, our waitress even eluded to this fact when we asked where our food was after 45 minutes and a gentleman who was seated after we had put in our food order received his food and finished eating in the time before we received our food. When we asked the waitress about our food, she never apologized for the long wait. She did compensate us for our first drink. However in the time we waited we would have liked to order more drinks,
which we were never asked.Needless to say, I don't intend to ever go back. There are far too many great food options in Portland to waste my time on this place.
Cute, modern brunch spot in the middle of downtown Portland. Great food and drinks! Little pricey, but worth the visit.
Raven & Rose is pretty much perfect. We went for brunch on a Sunday morning and the food was delicious. The Full English Breakfast will leave you feeling full all day. It's incredible. You must substitute the toast for the English muffin. It's a perfect English muffin.
The full Irish breakfast was even better than the ones we had in Ireland. My husband and I have only been here twice, but it's excellent!
Great food and nice space. Wait staff seemed to be new. Waiter did not know the menu, and was pretty uncoordinated with the hostess. Several missteps in getting things to our table, but overall a very nice evening.
