Rasoi is the next generation in the Aslam family’s vision to delight the Bay Area with their unique, award-winning Northern Indian and Pakistani cuisine. Sprung from master chef Mohammed Aslam’s widely celebrated flagship restaurant Aslam’s Rasoi in San Francisco’s Mission District, this creative collaboration by Mr. Aslam’s sons integrates the much beloved family-friendly Rasoi (Kitchen) concept into a contemporary restaurant and chill lounge setting on the peninsula. Executive Chef Asif Aslam performs magic in the kitchen by putting his own signature on a well-curated staple of mouth-watering family recipes. Drawing from his diverse experiences at his dad’s restaurant and as personal chef for a host of distinguished Bay Area personalities, one of the region’s most talented young restaurateurs enjoys nothing more than to enhance his culinary genes with the kinds of subtle accents known to elicit spontaneous “oohs.”

We went in a Sunday night at 7pm. It wasn’t packed but there a good amount of people there. The waiter was attentive, answered our questions and took our order. The samosas came out quickly. After that we waited close to an hour for our main dishes. When they came out only half our order arrived. During this time the wait staff did not come to check on us, our water or our drinks. We waited another 20 minutes or so for the rest of the food. They brought us extra naan and a free dessert but by then we were frustrated dinner took so long.

The food itself was delicious.

Excellent, especially since there are very few restaurants on the SF peninsula that compare with SF. This is the same Rasoi family that own the Valencia St. store Aslam Rasoi, our waiter in Burlingame told us the son opened the one here. Same great food, ambience is much nicer here.

Might have been an off night but service was below our standards. Food took too long to come and the overall service was spotty at best. Table was not properly serviced, cleared, cleaned etc. Their flow was completely off due to an over abundance of take out orders putting stress on the kitchen during the busying dining hours. There did not seem to be a manager present trouble shooting. All the tables were waiting for their food and the wait staff was trying their best to keep things moving/satisfactory, but flow was not satisfactory. Would be good to clean table following appetizers & after meal/before giving us the bill.

Always pleasant service- the food is wonderful -tasty, rich and authentic. The naan bread is superb but for it to be good you really have to dine in (take-out doesn’t do this food justice)! It’s a gem in Burlingame.

great food but service was so slow. Probably take out would be fine although ambiance was nice. They have to step up on their service. waiters were nice but food coming out was slow. how about more help in the kitchen.

One of the best Indian restaurants around. The tandoori is exceptionally moist & tender and the curries and sauced dishes were delicious. They brought a lovely little dessert for Birthday celebration.

This is not a real Indian restaurant. The pooris tasted bland and were not puffed up like they should have been. I inquired and they told me they don't use ghee for frying; they used vegetable oil.
We let the waiter talk us into the special of the night, beef rib eye cooked tandoori style. Obviously beef is not an Indian dish but I thought it might taste OK. I ordered it medium-rare. It came out medium-well, dry and a little tough. It might have been OK medium-rare. But I think I should have stuck to the lamb version.
We ordered the chicken koorma. Now koorma is supposed to be mild on the spicey scale. But it should be rich with the taste of ground cashews and cream. The dish was tasteless. They used white meat so the chunks of chicken were dry, not being helped by being overcooked.
The only thing good was the fried eggplant appetizer. It had a tasty chick pea flower crust. That might make me willing to try the place again and select some other dishes. But the fact that they even would serve beef, and not use ghee, tells me it is kind of fake Indian.
Based on the poori, tandoori, and chicken koorma, there are better Indian restaurants out there at any budget level.

Food was outstanding, but service was not good. I had ask for a waiter; the gentleman said he was our waiter, but he had walked by us several times over 10+ minutes. I had to remind him that I ordered a beer, which then came immediately. Several table were dirty, though staff was working on that when we arrived. Overall, worth it for the food, but management should be dismissed. They need a visit from The Profit.

Anything you order at Rasoi will be delicious. Period. Amazing food! We had tikka masala, shrimp korma, jalfrezi, dal, and garlic naan. All cooked to perfection and the spicy sauce (you can ask for) is out of this world! I’m from the Bay Area but don’t live here so I get the noise level and slow service but for me, that is what would be my only complaint. It was very very noisy in this small space packed with families and drunk work parties. Our server seems overwhelmed and forgot to bring items to our table a few times and it was hard to get ahold of him if we needed something.

For the location (Burlingame avenue) and price we expected a better experience overall. The food presentation was nothing special, it got cold instantly. The taste was ok, I've had a lot better at other Indian restaurants that aren't as expensive. I think I expected a higher level of service with a nice presentation of food. If in Burlingame I prefer rasa.

Food and helpfulness of staff is always great; but this time around was disappointed for two reasons. First we had OpenTable reservation; but we had to keep checking in to get seated and were initially offered sub-par tables. We saw a table open with nicer location and they did allow us to have but if we didn't the table location was a deal breaker for nice dining experience that we brought friends for their first visit after we had raved about Rasoi. Not good first impression for them. My other issue was the lamb dishes ordered only came with 6
small cubes of lamb in them; but a lot of sauce. Hard to share 6 small pieces of lamb between 4 adults.

We live in Burlingame and have come to Rasoi about a half-dozen times now. It’s one of the first Indian restaurants that has been successful in Burlingame for a while and rightly so. The food is delicious high-er end Indian with a chef owner who takes pride in his food. Strongly suggest it. A little pricey but nothing out of the ordinary for Burlingame. Fun for groups and great bar / happy hour

There is nothing 'not to like' about this place. It's a gem on Burlingame Avenue. Reasonable prices for outstanding Indian food. Beautiful place. Attentive waitstaff. Only negative was that the bartender failed twice to make a dirty martini, which was a disappointment for the birthday girl in our party.

First time dining here. The food was excellent and authentic. The chicken tikka masala was excellent and a very popular dish. As we were leaving, I noticed most tables had a plate of it. We will definitely be returning.

I am not normally a fan of Indian food, but our grandsons enjoy eating it so we decided to take them there while visiting us. There were great options that were not spicy for me, but my husband and the boys enjoyed theirs. They give you the options of 1 - 5 level of how spicy you want your dish. The boys got a 2 and my husband got a 5. Everyone enjoyed their meals. It's convenient for us because it's on the avenue. We will definitely be back!

Rasoi still has some of the same problems from their opening. They are consistently understaffed and slow to bring out everything.

However the food is always excellent. That's what brings me back for the punishment of consistent abuse from the staff. This time it was a reservation for 7pm that we were late to by 5 minutes. I called ahead to let them know we would be a couple minutes late (multiple times) but no one answered the phone.

We sat down at 725, and didn't see our first food until 750. (50 minutes after our reserved time) What's the point of having reservations at all? No acknowledgement or accommodation from the manager/owner? I see him there every time and he was rude and did nothing for the miss. I honestly expect the slow service but with a reservation I expect more. Free drinks or rushed appetizers, something.

Visit for the food but be prepared for a LOOOOOOOONG wait and mediocre service.
