I’ve been trying to find time to go here for years. Wish I would have done it sooner. Had a special of the night which was a super Japanese Kobe steak and a South African lobster tail. Best of of the best. Can’t wait to go back

Rare 650 is our favorite date night spot. It seems to only get better and better. They’ve made major renovations to the decor and it’s really brightened up the ambiance. With that said, Saturday nights tend to be a bit of a scene at the bar, but you can dine in other areas of the restaurant for a more intimate setting. We had the pleasure of meeting the General Manager, Cliff, who ensured we were completely satisfied with our experience. Impeccable service, incredible food.

Definitely OFF !! I’ve been to this restaurant many many times along with their sister restaurants , blackstones and one north . Apparently , even though we dined relatively early at 7:30 pm and the place was certainly not crazy busy on a Saturday nite, they were out of porterhouse for two .. and we didn’t get served dinner until 10:15pm. Dinner was less then acceptable. Steak was dry . We decided on dessert and the waiter came back to tell us the dessert was unavailable as well. When we got the check the manager took off the desserts as a courtesy . However, poor judgement on management by leaving the coffee and tea still on the check. Really??? Very disappointing nite. I don’t mind spending 300 dollars a couple for dinner but this restaurant needs to retrain their management on customer service and food supply.
We started off with the barata appetizer with Prosciutto, plums and figs. They forgot the Prosciutto? Told the waiter and he apologized and promptly got the Prosciutto. Then we had the Australian wagyu beef bone in rib steak for 2. It was done perfectly and was tasty and delicious. We had creamed spinach and lobster Mac and cheese for sides. We also got a bottle of belle glos Pinot noir which was also good. If I like a bottle of wine I will see if I could get in local store. I found the same one that was 125 for the bottle at Rare650 for 55 at local store. Thought that the steak $165 and the wine was a little pricey but they were both really good. For the forgetting of the Prosciutto the compt us 2 cappuccinos and brought us 2 delicious donut. All in all service was good food was good just thought a bit pricey for the Stark and the wine.
My husband and I like to indulge in a good steak once in a while and this is THE place to go. So good. Service was great. We even ordered some sushi for an appetizer. It was delicious.
Not what it used to be. The barmaids do not seem to be as accommodating as they once were it seems.
...The place seems to be slipping, not what it once was. Third nights are not as vibrant as they used to be.
This place is expensive, Thayer need to impress for me to keep coming back.

Dried sweet potato au gratin( never seen before) and octopus with beef steak tomato( should’ve served with heirloom tomato). Surprising experience after seeing all this good reviews.

Three out of four in our party ordered steaks ranging from medium rare to medium well and all were overcooked. The service and ambiance was nice, but if your primary entree is steak you better cook it as ordered and they failed miserably. We informed our waiter nicely and let him know that we don't want to send them back because we wanted to eat. The right thing to have done is to give some sort of discount or offer us a round of drinks, but when the bill came the waiter said he threw in one dessert. Not really sufficient for 75% of our group having an unenjoyable steak that cost about $60 each.
Both the food and the service were outstanding. There was also s good variety of choices for all types of food and for all the courses for the meal.
We haven't dined at Rare in quite a while and we were totally pleased with the service but my sirloin steak was one of the best I have ever had!
Our side dishes, appetizer and dessert were outstanding as well!!

We just went here for NYE so it was definitely lovely and busy, but the service was awesome regardless. Food was great, wait staff was super friendly. I can’t wait to go back!

New Years Eve,
We went on New Year’s Eve and enjoyed the festive atmosphere and dinner. Considering the place was packed, ambiance was great, service was attentive and the food was good. As with most steakhouses today, pricing is over the top, especially the choice between 3oz and 6oz individual glasses of top wines.
Overall, an enjoyable evening
We were seated at the green house area by the wall and emergency exit. It was very cold since it’s in the middle of winter, I actually needed to wear a scarf to eat. Not to mention the table is right in front of the busy kitchen. Not sure why the host decided to seat us over there on a not so busy Sunday at 6pm? Anyway, this restaurant has crowded seating, u can definitely hear what the next table is talking about.
As for food, we ordered the Sunday special with Filet Mignon and lobster, the lobster was over cooked and Filet Mignon was properly cooked to medium rare but has no meat taste. The cheesecake was standard and sorbet was too sweet. Our waiter is definitely experienced but his helper still needs a lot of training.
Overall, a horrible dinning experience, I’ll NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Excellent cuisine, service was amazing - you are not rushed so it makes for a great evening out.
I have been dining at Rare650 for several years. My last two experiences were disappointing. On both occasions, I asked for my steak to be pink inside. Both times it arrived red and raw. After sending the food back two times, only the outside where I had cut it was cooked and the inside looked the same.
Great restaurant. Food and drinks were delicious. Waitstaff was very attentive. Loved the experience.

My husband and I went out for a quiet Christmas Eve dinner. Our table was ready when promised. The drinks, food and service were excellent. Highly recommend it!
It used to be one of my favorites restaurant but this years I was so disappointed. Foods were blah from appetizers to deserts except clams and oysters alway fresh and delicious. Service was exceptional so poor on Christmas Eve. We had one waiter and one waitress at our table, a man was forgetful and a lady was just lazy. We were watching them to see if they were too busy but they were not they just didn’t care. Compare to the value and prices it was not worth the price. However they do have have a good wine list.

I decided to have my birthday/graduation dinner at Rare650. Collin and G (Don’t remember his name, but it was really Italian) were awesome! Their recommendations were super tasty (40oz Tomhawk, Artichokes & the oysters) Adrian the manager was also great and super funny! Definitely recommend this place for dinner.

Great deal....great meal. Came for the special price fixe menu on Sunday. Food, service and restaurant was fantastic and couldn't beat the price. Definitely a place to go back to.

Tough chewy and Luke warm
Shrimp cocktail over cooked and chewy
They gave us a table for 5 that was in a booth tucked in a corner near some electrical piping and completely out of view of the rest of the restaurant
Servers forgot to come to take our order for 20 minutes
Next time we will go to Black Stone

Celebrating my daughter’s grad school graduation
All four of us were pleased with everything. We did ask, "how rare is medium for the steak." Our steaks were a bit too raw for medium for all of us. We ate them because they were very tender. (Besides, we did not invite the people who send everything back because it really ruins the dining experience) Next time I guess we try medium well even though we like light pink center. The interior is lovely and the waitstaff was genuine and friendly.

And the lobster Mac and cheese is the best I’ve ever had. Drinks were on point and service was prompt.
Great Food, Excellent service. Everything one comes to expect at a great Steak House. The pricing was high, what you would expect if you were at a top Steak house in Manhattan not long island.
We have been to the restaurant before and had a very good experience. This time, I felt the service at the table was fair. The waiter was not very friendly. He stood there and said what are you having. He didnt check on us during the meal. I sat with an empty water glass almost my entire meal. He gave us a menu to share and when we said "oh we have to share" he came back with another menu only at the time of taking our order. At the extreme prices we paid I was expecting an attentive wait staff. So my experience was fair.
The food, as always, was scrumptious. The waiter, Vincent, and his assistant, Anthony, were very attentive. Vincent displayed his excellent memory in reciting all of the evening's special dishes. RARE650 is pricy.
