   Rare650 in Jericho offers an upscale steakhouse ambiance with a modern twist, but unfortunately, our recent dining experience left much to be desired given the high-end pricing. We had an 8:30 p.m. reservation, and while our table was ready by 8:40 p.m., a short delay, it was not unreasonable. The staff throughout the evening were courteous and attentive, and service was generally well-paced—at least during the earlier part of the meal. Our evening began with mojitos, which were served promptly. However, the drinks themselves were underwhelming—lacking the balanced freshness and complexity one might expect from a cocktail at a fine-dining establishment. We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer, which arrived in a timely fashion and was quite enjoyable—crispy, well-seasoned, and a solid start to the meal. Unfortunately, the main course was where the experience began to falter. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our steaks, a delay that felt excessive even on a busy night. When the entrees finally arrived, both steaks—ordered medium—were cooked to the correct temperature, but the quality was disappointing. My $79 steak lacked tenderness and depth of flavor, and my wife's $85 steak fared no better. For the premium price point, we expected far more in both texture and taste. Interestingly, the standout items of the meal were the side dishes. The mashed potatoes and creamed spinach delivered rich, satisfying flavors that contrasted starkly with the underwhelming main course. In summary, while Rare650 presents itself as a premium dining destination with attentive service and appealing ambiance, the culinary execution—particularly the entrees—did not justify the high price. With some improvements to consistency and flavor, it has the potential to match its upscale reputation.

   From start to finish, the food and experience at Rare650 always exceeds our expectations. Cliff, the manager, and his team always provide a great experience.
