I ordered salmon which was good but not great. I’m a decent cook but not a professional and I thought I could’ve cooked it such as well but if not better. My husband had filet mignon and liked it. The chocolate ganache dessert and ciabatta rolls were the best.

The only reason for lower score in a couple categories is because the air conditioning was broken. It’s very difficult to enjoy a hot meal and red wine when you are sweating. I understand that things happen, but there absolutely should have been fans or something to move the air. It was truly awful! When you are spending $900 on a celebratory meal, you shouldn’t be completely uncomfortable!

We were ignored most of our visit. We only received one dinner roll between the two of us and we didn’t see our server between ordering and the food being brought out. Just an off night, I guess. Service is usually on point.

It is not cheap, however the food and service is extraordinary. It is "rare" to spend that much and feel that the meal was worth it. This is one of those "rare" restaurants!

Anniversary dinner. Bar service was a bit slow, albeit friendly. Server, Genevive, was wonderful. Crab cake and grilled shrimp were outstanding, as was lobster bisque (could do with a tiny bit less salt). These were highlights of the meal. Tried Japanese wagu for the first time- not a fan, at all. Liked the ribeye better, but that's just our preference. Sides were big and heavy (potatoes and sprouts). Chocolate cake was impressive in size but a bit bland. I'd go back to try the filet, or bar menu, or since the seafood was so great maybe stick with more of that!

My $108 porterhouse came undercooked (mooing) so i asked the waitress to have it cooked it a little bit more (to what i originally requested: medium rare). because they precut it, when i received it back it was overdone (medium well) and tough.

Madison has many wonderful, high end restaurants but few that deliver as complete of a dining experience--location, ambience, food and service-- as Rare. I had made a last minute reservation on a Saturday evening so we could have a special meal to celebrate a family member's birthday. From the moment we arrived, each member of the staff--from the hostess to the waitress in the bar, to the servers at our table--were professional, friendly and informative. The dishes we ordered--from appetizer to dessert--were amazing and prepared exactly how we requested. Thank you for making our evening one that we will remember!!

Was an amazing birthday experience. Lucianna our server was amazing and very helpful. Her attitude really made the experience great. They have a lot of birthday accommodations that we were surprised about for such a high end place. It was a great surprise. Definitely recommend going for a birthday or celebration!

I had my steak oscar style and it was the best oscar style I've ever had. The wedge salad was disappointing. The Bananas Foster was a treat. Our server was attentive, but a little pushy. She suggested the Waygu beef as an appetizer, at $40 an ounce. Really? I don't think my daughter and I gave off a wealthy vibe.

Everything seemed to take too much time. We had simple orders and were there for over 2 hours. I think 4 people asked how are food was which was excessive and interrupted the dinner. The service is good, but "too good". I am not there to interact with the staff, I am there to be with the people I am there with. Although the food was good, the quality is similar to lower priced steakhouse options.
