I've enjoyed dining at Rapscallion multiples times, both for business and personal dining. This visit to was surprising, and not in a good way. The service was terrible and the food was not the quality that I'm accustomed to here. My wife's best salad seemed to be missing dressing and her prime rib stroganoff was bland. I'll dine here again based on previous experience, but would not if this was my first.
Rapscallion is my husband's favorite fine dining restaurant. I took him there for his birthday, we had heard it had changed, I think the Rap is back on track.
Ambience is wonderful...very San Francisco reminiscent. Happy Hour was welcome. Our table of 5 have both seafood and beef entrees. All loved their meals. Our birthday person received a free dessert and a Happy Birthday card on the table. Dinner was leisurely and well serviced.
Appetizers were delicious yet small in portion. Main entrees all had a delicious and unique flavor. Looking forward to celebrating another special occasion here.
Excellent first visit to Rapscallion - it won't be our last. The front room is a bit noisy and the service was slow-ish on a busy night. But we were in no hurry so not that big of a deal. The food - really, really good. My wife's artichoke heart appetizer was as good as my French onion soup, which I rated in my top 5 of all time - and I'm picky about French onion soup! The horseradish-crusted halibut was outstanding, cooked perfectly and a generous portion. The crab and shrimp risotto was delicious but quite rich. Best to split with someone who orders a steak, perhaps. Price was a bit on the high side, but they have 1/2 price wine on Mondays and a steak and lobster special on Wednesdays. Definitely worth a try - 4.5 stars.
I travel for 5 hour for their Primerib. Their primes are excellent.
It was very crowded but everything was good.
I cannot recommend this restaurant for any level of dining
Wonderful place but a little noisy. If we didn't have a booth it would have been very difficult to have a conversation. Service was good, price of food was higher than quality of meal.
I had the Halibut always one of my favorites! 0The others at the table had beef and were very pleased with their meal.
Food was mediocre (this is the 15th time we have been here) relative to the first time we visited. Food was served lukewarm and the prime rib stroganoff seemed as though the prime rib had been reheated as it was very dry. The plus was wine bottles half off, so the wine was great, the food disappointingly mediocre
Andre our server was excellent. Food was very good and atmosphere was a bit like some of the older style steakhouses in SF. Overall I would highly recommend them for a quiet romantic dinner.
We can always depend on the good food and service!
Fabulous meal, excellent service, great wine. Server had perfect choice for wine.
We spent several hours with drinks, appetizers, main dish and dessert. The shisito peppers were excellent. We had oysters on the half shell; fresh and delicious. Oysters Rockefeller were the best I’ve had in a long time. The clam steamers were garlicky and wonderful. My main dish was the horseradish halibut and I did not taste any horseradish. It was encrusted in a hard crunchy coating that I didn’t care for. But the halibut inside was moist and flavorful. My husband was a little disappointed in the Cioppino as it was served with very little sauce and was mostly seafood on top of a little broth. He asked for more but it took too long so he ate it without. He did say the seafood was good. One couple had the surf and turf. The filet was perfectly cooked and the lobster was a nice size; for the $80 price it was excellent. The drinks we had were great as well.
They kindly acknowledged that we were celebrating our anniversary which even enhanced our already wonderful dinner!
Great service and ambiance. Food was excellent.
My husband's steak melted in his mouth, my risotto was fabulous, our service was awesome, and we were seated at our favorite table, number 16 right across from the fire. My husband had given up on ordering steak for a really long time, he was really impressed. Great job Rapscallions
great escargo and mud pie for the finisher will be back
Wonderful. Food and ambience were outstanding
No other place in town like it. Neighborhood Seafood, Steakhouse. It is busy, vibrant, laughter & good times all around you. Waiter & Waitresses are attentive. Food is delicious! Wish we had one in Spanish Springs!!!
Great service and great food.
Nice San Francisco style restaurant. Excellent quality nice relaxed service. Once you leave you realize you’re in Reno.
Amazing atmosphere they had my reservation and respected the notes. The food was great
Haven’t been there in a while and the prices have gone up significantly. The food is ok but don’t think the value is there.
Our favorite restaurant. The scallops and halibut are to die for!
Truly wonderful evening. The food was fantastic, the service excellent and the ambiance amazing. We love this place!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our Valentines dinner at the Rapscallion Seafood House. We have been eating there since the early 1970's and it has stood up to the test of time and has been consistent with great food , ambiance, and value all these years.
Excellent service with Steve. Good price point.
Plan to return soon.
My girlfriend and I had 6:30 reservations and were seated right away, waited on cocktails for a half hour and didn't receive our dinner of surf and turf until 8:00 pm. Brian our waiter had to be reminded to check on our dinner order. Over priced for quantity and quality of the dinner... Want a great dining experience, go to Bistro 7 for good food, quality service, and nice atmosphere.
We have been going there for years. Never a dissapointment
As always a great dinner, celebrated our anniversary there. We have. Been doing this for the past 33 years
The food and service were wonderful! You have to try the appetizer Diablos on Horseback. So yummy!!
I have always had a great experience there. The food was definitely sub-par.
Our dinner was wonderful and service was great!
Very average food. The fish was overcooked for both of us. Waiter was distracted. Not coming back
Amazing on every level
We all enjoyed the bar and its appetizers. Our reservations were for this restaurant's busiest time. Since we were mixing business and visiting, this gave us time. Most of the food was wonderful. The exception was the filet mignon. It was wrapped and tied. Because it was wrapped, there was silver skin inside which was tough/inedible. We have had good filets here before!
Raps’ has maintained a high quality for many years. Over the last 10 years we have visited Reno and always made it one of our chosen dinner spots. Great selections and wines to match. You shouldn’t be disappointed.
