My husband and I went to Rapscallion last Saturday night for dinner. The food was fantastic and the service was great. Thank you for such a nice evening.
Dinner at Rapscallion is always good, Tui our waiter is always fantastic very professional and fantastic service.
We have been to the restaurant many times. It is a special place for us. We even have a favorite server. Sadly it seemed this trip the noise level was very loud. Otherwise it is a favored place.
Rapscallion is our go-to place for great ambiance, service and seafood. Don't miss their Steamed Clams or Mussels (we mixed both) in a butter, garlic, shallot sauce -- outstanding. Their fish preparations are always great -- on our last visit I had the Horseradish Encrusted Halibut with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and my husband had the Rapscallion Trio which included Halibut, Salmon and Prawns in a Lobster Bisque Sauce. The service was impeccable (even given the fact that the restaurant was packed). The was full of diners and drinkers having a good time. Highly recommend this spot!
Interesting that you asked if it was a special occasion when making reservation, but never mentioned it during the evening!
We always enjoy eating here as the menu has a nice variety of options plus they can prepare foods gluten-free.
We met up with old friends for a birthday celebration. The sea food is some of the best we've had in Reno, ceaser salad was very good. The service was good and waiter helpful and friendly. We will go back.
Rapscallion's is a great place to go for a special occasion. They also have great specials during the week that make it an affordable evening out. Always good food and good service.
Easter meal, the only offerings were mostly breakfast items, no ham, no scalloped potatoes... The prime rib would have been nice, but they didn’t think it would go over well so they sold out in first 2 hours. 2pm brunch was sparse. Rather than getting up to leave, we ordered a couple of wedge salads which were okay. After leaving, we went to the market and I made us a real meal.
Eggs Benedict was just so - so. It seemed as though the muffin was straight out of the bag. Not toasted Bland hollandaise I can cook this poorly at home.
Good wine list. Saved the date.
Service was not good. Restaurant slow and food still came out at 20 min for two mr steaks
We had to return both our dinners because they were underdone. My wife had the mixed grill and her meat was very chewy. The waiter did his best to make it right...he (Iliad) was a very good waiter. Drinks were good. It was our 50th wedding anniversary and overall the evening was good, but we were very disappointed with the food.
Our first visit to Rapscallion’s. The Horseradish Encrusted Halibut was brilliant, and the ribeye was tender and flavorful. Excellent wine selection. Excellent wait staff.
I've been eating here for 40 years and loving it until recently. They book big parties very often. When they do, the dining room is left with very few servers. There were only 2 servers in the entire dining room! Therefore the service was SLOW!!! I won't be returning. Too bad.
I love the atmosphere at Rapscallion. However, the food is inconsistent and the service is very slow. I ordered swordfish with polenta. The fish smelled when brought to table and it was on a bed of mushy goo. None of the meal had and flavor. I had to send it back.
We had an excellent meal. Enjoyed the fact that bottles of wine are half off on Monday nights. This was a pleasant surprise.
Always excellent. Andi is always an excellent server. Very good food and wine selection.
Good menu, excellent “old world” service, lovely classic decor. My halibut was a little dry but not terrible. I’d ask them to cook it less next time. My husband’s steak was cooked to perfection. We’d go back again for sure.
We went for my wife’s birthday first time there. It was a great experience from the waiter to the food all was exceptional. We highly recommend it. Ambiance is very nice also.
We had a very nice evening meal with a business colleague. Our table was situated in one of their more private areas, so we could easily hear each other. Nice variety of seafood dishes, side options and good wine selections.
Rapscallion was remodeled inside awhile back. I love the new look. Very fine dining ambiance. The service was wonderful as always and the food was very good. Can't wait to go back for some oysters which were very fresh!
Our server Tui was very attentive and our dining experience for my wife's 60th birthday was outstanding. It was nice that she received a complimentary birthday desert.... Thanks!
Always a great experience. Like being in San Francisco without the crowds and traffic!
We really like going there! We will go back for sure, especially if friends from out of town vivit
The menu is amazing, it offers a variety of options to include an awesome appetizer selection, main courses and of course desert. I had two, yes, two Lemon Drops just because it was one of the best I have had. I also ordered the lobster, which came with mixed vegetables and rice. The lobster was AMAZING!! The prices are reasonable for sure! LOVE this restaurant!!
We used to enjoy going to Rapscallion's on occasion, but after this last experience, I don't think I'll go back again. They seem to have taken out some of the beautiful old wood from the booths, that gave R its charm, and replaced it with unattractive glass. So my main complaint is that the ambiance has changed for the worse. There was also a giant tv on the wall, which I'd expect to find in a casino or sports bar, but not at a nicer dining location - so another blow to the previously pleasant ambiance. The food has never been outstanding, but this time I found it especially lackluster, particularly given the price. For example, we were very surprised to have our creme brulee served cold. The service, on the other hand, was excellent.
Made reservations here for a much needed date night with my husband and they did not disappoint. From the time we made the reservation to the time we left for the evening, we were very impressed. To start the evening the hostess was extremely personable and walked us to our very private booth. The menu was pretty extensive, making it quite hard to make a decision, because it all sounded so good. However, finally deciding on the ahi poke for a starter, which was wonderful, followed by each of us enjoying the beet salad , again wonderful, then for dinner I decided on the coconut salmon and my husband decided on the shrimp scampi, booth dishes bursting with flavor. We ended the evening with a flourless chocolate cake which I couldn’t get enough of, omg don’t pass that up. Our waitress Andee, was I extremely attentive and knowledgeable about all Rabscallion had to offer. This place is definitely not one to miss. We will definitely return.
We're becoming Rapscallion Regulars! From appetizers to dessert everything is well prepared and delicious. The service is friendly, attentive, and professional.
We felt like the Hostess was uninterested in us sorta a casual ignoring attitude. We were seated in the isle and directly next to the next table even though there were only a few families eating at the time. Would have been nice to spread everyone out a bit since its really small anyway. At the end we needed to change to provide a nice tip since our server was the best part of the meal. The bartender was less than thrilled to help would not make eye contact. Food was good just not worth 110.00 for two. Honestly, for me the restaurant is cramped and lacks privacy, but that just a personal preference of mine.
We’ve been here many times. Always good. Waiter forgot to enter our order. Food never came. They ended up paying for whole meal. Frustrating but right thing to do. We know it’s good so we’ll be back
Great menu and very good food. This is a great culinary stop along the way. I highly recommend it if you would like a good meal.
The only reason that I did not give 5 stars to food was that the swordfish was a bit overcooked and dry. Otherwise, everything was excellent! Will return to this gem!
We always like the chef specials. We went on February 15th and were offered the special Valentine's Day desert - a heart-shaped GREAT (better than a) chocolate brownie with a strawberry garnish and whipped cream. It was a wonderful meal.
Valentines Day!
The Valentine's Day menu was excellent. The service as always was superb. We had steak and lobster and it was cooked to perfection. Truly a great place for a great dinner.
It’s a beautiful restaurant with an Irish feel. The bar has live music on some nights which is soft and lovely. We went for Valentine’s Day and noticed they have a great happy hour and bar specials. I’ll definitly be back. My lobster was huge and delicious! Great overall experience.
Rapscallion is a restaurant we used to frequent, but haven't in several years. This was Valentine's Day and they offered a great selection, something for everyone. The only draw back was the back room we were seated in, not very romantic or cozy. I had requested a cabin table, but nothing was mentioned when we checked in. It would have been nice if they acknowledged the request and apologized for not being able to fulfill my request. Reservations were made with Open Table, if they don't read the special requests, they shouldn't ask for them.
The food is still excellent and the service was good and very attentive.
We will remember our experience the next time we have a date night.
Sat in the front room with the beautiful scrolling artwork, simply amazing! Great complement to a warm and inviting environment...nice touch!
I found the service to be prompt and timely. We were charged for an item we didn’t order, but once brought to the waitress’ attention, was unquestioningly removed. The food was , as usual, very good.
Awesome place. We love the food and the service is outstanding.
