We've been coming to Rapscallion for years, and by that I really mean many years. In the past it's been our family's go-to place for special occasions. Sadly, our two previous outings have been less than impressive. Let me state that the waitstaff is helpful and the bar does it job as it should. What seems to be lacking is the skill or attentiveness of the kitchen itself. On our last outing the coconut shrimp had obviously spent too much time in the fryer and most of the rest of the food was similarly overcooked. What could have been a fabulous cut of halibut turned out dry to the point where it could have been any inferior cut of fish. The lobster tail was chewy , a real shame for a $36 plate. The vegetables and rice weren't awful, but they certainly didn't save the dishes. The general concensus amongst our guests (both times) is that the meals had missed the mark.

We're still pulling for Rapscallion because the atmosphere is warm and elegant, and also because it would be a shame to see the place fail. Hopefully they find their former stride.

What a great place to have a meal. Fantastic in fact, from eating incredibly delicious food (I recommend the diablo on horseback for app) to the wonderful staff (ask for Carlos he’ll take great care of you). This wonderful dining experience will be a favorite for a long time.

The food and service were wonderful However, I loved the old booths and the table were VERY crowded. not a lot of room for servers or one lady with walker to maneuver down the aisle. Take out at least one table is my suggestion.

Two of our four dinners were outstanding. The other two were lacking. The appetizers were not served at the same time. My husband's steak was dry and overcooked, and my bacon wrapped scallops were small and tough nor were they served on croustini bread, as in the past, but rather on some soggy version of a flatbread. Definitely not up to Rapscallions' usual standards. We did not complain or request that the food be redone because the service was so slow we were afraid we would never see our dinner again.

Something good has happened at one of my favorite places! There has been some very attractive remodeling. The menu has changed and it is a big improvement on what was already a great foodie place. The food was delicious and the service excellent.

We used to go here regularly for the good food, service and atmosphere. However in the last few months the quality of the food has, in our opinion, declined dramatically. We both had fish and one was overcooked and dry and the other so over-seasoned that the taste of the fish was lost. Not good for a restaurant specializing in seafood. to their credit they didn't charge us for the overcooked entree. We may give them one more chance, but if that isn't up to par they are off our list for good.

The seafood is very good, and so is the service. Price is reasonable and wine list is good. The only thing I don't like is the tight booths or "cabins" as they call them. Sitting with four people is very tight.

I grew up on the east and west coasts and am a seafood lover. Seafood is not the focus of most menus in our area (Genoa, Carson City, Reno) so we were thrilled to find Rapscallion. The restaurant has an extensive seafood offering and the ambiance and service is excellent. We dined at Rapscallion recently before seeing RENT at the Pioneer Center and both chose selections from the Evening Specials menu. My husband started with a Wedge Salad and chose the Seafood Pan Roast for his dinner. Both were excellent. I started with a Caesar salad -- which was very good -- and chose the creamy Parmesan Risotto with King Crab and Shrimp for my entree. The flavor of the Risotto was outstanding, and the shrimp were large and plump, but the King Crab was absent. We fished all around in the Risotto and found only one small piece. So I mentioned this to our waiter and he brought me a dish full of King Crab to add to my meal. This set things right, but I would have much preferred to have the Risotto served with the crab to begin with, as advertised. We'll return to Rapscallion and hopefully this mistake was a one-off.

Food was either overcooked or undercooked, and very salty. French Onion Soup was extremely salty that we had to return it. Both Horseradish Encrusted Halibut and Tuscan Grilled Swordfish were very salty and very dry. West Coast Cioppino was undercooked with mussels unopened and scallops half raw.

It was Thanksgiving so a special menu. We were seated on time. It was unusually noisy due to it being a holiday. We have been there previously and it was intimate and quite. I highly recommend Rapscallion for their extraordinary seafood.

I had heard about Rapscallion's since I moved to Reno a few years ago. I finally made my way there and I am so glad I did. It's elegant yet cozy. It has a beautiful bar, a great fireplace, and very tasty menu. My server Tui was wonderful. I took my family on Thanksgiving and the meal was great. I plan to make this a regular spot for a great dining experience.

Dinned with my husband and mom on thanksgiving. We all had the Steak and Cake. The Steak was excellent with each of our steaks grilled to exactly how we like it. Mom- Medium; Husband- Medium Well and Mine- Medium Rare. Crab Cake was lacking. We are originally from Maryland this was NOT a Maryland Crab Cake not even close to even in the "style of". Husband commented there was a piece or two of crab meat being held together by mashed potatoes..LOL. Did not taste bad but not Maryland style. No Old Bay Seasoning at all and very little crab. If the chef wants to see what a real Maryland Crab Cake looks like view the picture below. Thanksgiving menu did not say is was a Maryland Crab Cake but the regular menu does, that is the only reason I even bring it up.

The only thing is they didn’t acknowledge our anniversary, was a little disappointed about that, and it was specified in the reservation. Food was good though.

After living in both Hawaii and in Alaska, as well as having fished in both of those States, I am somewhat of a “fish snob.” I always say, don’t order seafood when you’re not on the coast. Their fresh oysters were good, however the swordfish was fishy and strong. My wife’s filet was ordered as “medium,”but came back as bloody. Needless to say, we won’t be back again. In Reno, stick with sushi, however if you want FRESH fish make sure that you’re on the coast!

Tuie our waiter is always great but the noise level was out of control. The table next to us was a large party in a small room with a few intimate tables around them. Not a good combination for other patrons at the small tables. Their cocktail menu needs to be larger. We find it nicer to eat at the bar it’s much more intimate in there.

Loved the food Overall experience has been great Service isn't the top grade it use to be. Tried to sit at bar area inside too busy, sat outside and waited for a waitress for a long time. There was only two other tables with people and this is a Friday night. The food is exceptional and that is a super compliment. We have eaten in restaurants in Croatia, Austria, Spain, Hungary, and Bosnia. The Rapscallion holds honors with them!!!

Miss the old layout. We were seated at a table with a full view of the kitchen and are not sure how to feel about one of the cooks constantly eating while preparing food. Not a huge deal but the staff never recognized the anniversary we were celebrating. Drinks were top notch.

Waitress in the bar was awesome. Our table in the far back room Would have been nice if the other large party in the room didn't treat it like a sports bar. It was so loud we couldn't even hear each other at our table. Very disappointed with the evening and the waiter paid more attention to the other tables. It was a special night with friends and the money spend...would rather had gone to sports bar since that's what it was like. Kandi Smith 722 7397

Successful recent remodel opened up the main dining room, but left a row of booths ideal for business meetings or intimate dining. Six of us enjoyed a room at the back, which is great for larger groups. Beautiful bar area. Food and service are excellent. Solid wine list. Kuleto's first restaurant is better than ever!

We started in the bar for Happy Hour, The bartender was superb. We started with calamari and steamed clams. Both were superb. They came and got us when it was time for dinner. We all thoroughly enjoyed the surf (lobster) and turf dinners.
