The service was very attentive. Our water glasses were never empty. There were alway smiles from the wait staff. The food was very good. We had the ham and truffle beignets, escargots, grilled octopus and the steak au poivre. We also had the profiteroles for dessert. All were excellent! We were both very happy. The place is crowded and noisy so not for those who are looking for a quiet conversation.
Best steak in town, great martini's. Wine list very nice and perfect lighting
Great energy and still a classic. Went with the family and wish they allowed the burgers to be served at the table, but for whatever their reason you can only eat a hamburger at the bar. Doesn't really make much sense, but I guess they feel it's not fancy enough to serve a burger at a tab or not expensive enough to have that. Just charge more for the burger if that's the case, but it's odd to serve a burger 5 feet away from a table and not allow it to be ordered by someone else. Otherwise always a good time at Raoul's and I've been going since you used to be able to eat behind the kitchen (which I miss).
What I most appreciated about Raoul's is the prompt attention to our making reservations on a busy Saturday evening. We had to change the original time of the reservation and every effort was made to accommodate our request.
The noise level was a drawback but we were compensated by food and attentive service.
Raoul's is a neighborhood gem. My husband and I are glad that the restaurant is still in business and one of the few remaining bistros left in the City.
After all these years, still the best French bistro in NYC.
Good food and vibes
Raoul’s is always great! Hosts, waitstaff, cocktails and of course the food. Just be prepared: crowded, cozy, costly.
Great meal as always. Go during the week and meet the Maitre D’ Eddie. Always makes us feel like we are home. Can’t wait for the next visit. Oh and by the way, everything is terrific. And that’s coming from a jaded New Yorker.
Very delicious and warming. Nicely ang interestingly decorated.
Very tasty burger and the steak was fabulous too. Also very good service.
It’s good. I wouldn’t say it’s a must-visit, but I could see it being a consistently delicious spot if you’re not familiar with the area. The food was good though, so choose this place over a touristy nightmare for sure.
We love Raouls! It is our go-to restaurant when we go to the City. We love the cosy, authentic atmosphere, the delicious food and the friendly yet professional service.
One of my favorite New York restaurants. I have celebrated multiple birthdays and gatherings with friends here. The food is delicious and so are the martinis!
We love this spot!! Great all around! The food is delicious. We always get the frisee salad. Staff is great as well.
Fabulous atmosphere, food exceptional, highly recommended
Very good food and ambiance, but the prize is a little bit too much. But it is worth the experience.
After 30 years Raouls is one of our favorite bistros in NYC. Gorgeous and comfortable room, happy ambient buzz lifts everyone. Anything they prepare is authenticly bistro and terrific: skate, steak au poive, classic chicken, tartare, moules...you get the picture. You can throw a dart at the menu and love it.
Burger definitely over-rated
A good meal and good service. Crowded and seated on top of one another. Access to restrooms is tricky up a spiral staircase. We came because it was advertised as one of the top 100 in NYC, and its a great little spot- I just won’t bring my kids again. Mature artwork is everywhere.
Fantastic! Everything about Raoul's is exactly how we remember it. Haven't been there in years, glad to be back!
Always fun and fabulous. Never disappoints. Good solid French inspired food. Can always count on the steak frittes. Also great frissé salad and divine beignets of ham, cheese and truffle. excellent creme brule
We celebrated my birthday at Raoul's. What a great choice! We were seated within minutes of our reservation and had wonderful service throughout our meal. We ordered pate to start, and it was very good. My steak au poivre was cooked perfectly and came with the most delicious fries. My dining companion's skate looked almost too beautiful to eat. The profiteroles came lit with a birthday candle under a gorgeous golden dome spun from sugar. We loved Raoul's.
Fantastic food and high energy, eclectic local establishment. A little cramped but it adds to the character and overall experience.
Been coming here for more than 20 years. Consistently excellent. Go for the steak au poivre but reserve ahead of time. Its always packed and for good reason. Its gotten pricier over the years. But still well worth it.
Raoul's has been a fav for 25 years. I was great for a date and now I bring my kids along! Have hung with Matt Dillon @ the bar, spied George Stephanopoulos out for a bite with his wife, etc. Fab atmosphere and even better food. Steak frites, best in the city!
Great Food, Small Tight restaurant. Ambiance was nice as well as the service. Only concern the spiral staircase!! Will definitely go back!!!!
Authentic old new york with a great menu. Small portions but very tasty food. The decor is great and so old school it is a local village hang out for years. Hope it is always there. Love to take people from out of town there.
Friends out of town
Got a booth (Thank you) and enjoyed an amazing meal. The Skate was out of this world.
Raoul's has been on many best burger lists for years and I've tried most of the more expensive "gourmet" burgers on these lists and the majority of them do not live up to the hype, but Raoul's burger is definitely list worthy and is one of the top 5 burgers I've ever had. Everyone in our dining group agreed. Make a brunch reservation online and get the burger. You won't regret it.
Indifferent server detracted from the experience.
Noisy - suggest the reader request a booth.
Raoul’s is perfect. The food is wonderful, the wine list well curated and fit for any occasion. But the magic is in the people. You are greeted warmly, and taken care of throughout the evening, from bar to table.
Noisy. Overpriced. Nice NYC ambiance.
Best burger in NYC. Yes, it's better than Minetta Tavern. Go for brunch if you want it, otherwise Monday-Fri they only serve 12 burgers a day and only at the bar. Also, their starters on the brunch menu are all REALLY good.
Always a pleasure to dine at Raoul's
Excellent as always!
Great place to have fun and listen to loud music if you like that type of atmosphere. It was a little too loud to hear our friends but they played great stuff!
The food was very good!
Raouls has overpriced food but does prepare it well. I found the Sunday evening noise level to be unacceptable. It is very overcrowded. Staff worked hard to please us.
Steak au poivre is my favorite thing on the menu!
