Stunning food, superb service. Waiter had authentic French accent which added to the experience. I will be going back often!!
excellent escargots...i would prefer the booth but anyway love the place
So fun! Took my newly married niece and her husband to celebrate their wedding. Exceptional service, food and atmosphere. Loved it!
Incredible NYC Atmosphere in the Heart Of SoHo. Maitre d, Eddie was the perfect host. Food delish, waitstaff attentive in a classic NY space filled with various artwork on the walls, opriginal tin ceiling & walls.
Chicken was excellent but the steak was poor.
I've spent so much time in the SoHo area over the past few years, and have been to many of the bistros, italian spots, and new hip restaurants in the neighborhood. I had somehow not been to Raoul's, so we changed that this weekend.
Raoul's is a legendary NYC spot, and it's very fun. It is pretty pricey, though all in all worth it for a splurge-ish meal and to check-off your NYC bucket list. The steak au poivre is very good, sauce is excellent and the duck-fat fries are killer. Meat is a very lean cut. I wish I had gotten it a bit more rare but overall, believe the hype on the steak and dat peppercorn sauce. I'd like to try the burger next time. Cocktails were classic, french, and good. Escargot Tartine and the crab beignets were good as well. Would recommend going without vegetarians, though pescatarian in my group was fine. The scallops and risotto are the move if you are feeling fishy.
Eddie and Alex are the best!!! Food is consistent and off th charts! I wish they had a VIP card
i highly anticipated this dinner considering a lot of the reviews but have to say that sadly the first impression was terrible. we stood awkwardly for over 5 minutes in the entrance of the restaurant before anyone acknowledged us despite multiple staff passing us. Then the gentleman who welcomed us made us very uncomfortable going on for a few minutes about not confirming the reservation over the phone, i understand i was at fault for not returning the call but the important fact was that we were there to honor our reservation and we did not get seated until we received a proper scolding about not answering or returning the call (sometimes, that can happen with crazy days at work, having to be scolded and to apologize about it, is not actually acceptable when you actually show up to enjoy your dinner). We finally got seated and the rest of the evening was lovely. Our waitress was great, so was the food so the only thing that would stop me from going again was the way we were treated until we were seated at our table. Receiving an email from OpenTable the next morning to let me know i had missed my reservation was the last draw - especially considering this can impact my own OT account.
Outstanding! One of my favorite restaurants of all time! Always visit when in NYC.
Raoul’s is a family favorite for celebrating birthdays
Always fun.... oysters, steak au poivre, skate and of course the profiteroles in a golden sugar cage‼️
Delicious food: steak fantastic but scallops delicious also!! Wonderful ambience! Classic!
Really cool and loud. Fantastic filet! Drinks and fun atmosphere
Food came out fairly quick and the burger was the bomb! It was a pretty good experience overall except service was rather slow.
It's amazing how consistently good everything is at Raoul's. Service is excellent from the moment we arrived. We were promptly seated, with a thorough overview of the menu and wine list. Everyone in our group was thrilled with their food choices. Alex is an excellent guide for food and wine choices; Eddie is attentive and friendly in his greeting and direction. Raoul's is a long-time NYC gem!
A classic NY experience. Steak au poivre is all it's hyped to be; rack of lamb a winner as well. Excellent old fashioned to start. It's a bit cramped and go to rest rooms early - as alcohol intake increases, spiral staircase challenge increases as well.
Wonderful food, fantastic personal service. God vibe. Great place to eat.
Great service, food, friendly staff. Birthday dessert was appreciated!
Great restaurant and great food! Just a little too pricey for everyday- but if you’re celebrating, it’s a great place!!
fabulous meal. excellent steak. wonderful waiter(s) all around great neighborhood standby!
Almost everything was fabulous. However, the steak I ordered rare was medium, if not medium-well. If the rest of the food and the evening had not been perfect, this would have spoiled it.
Top 5 burger, hands down. The house special lives up to the hype time after time. Bloody Mary was also very solid and the value is pretty much what you would expect for Soho. Can’t go wrong with Raoul’s.
The burger at Raoul's is hands down my favorite burger in NYC! It's not too complicated but still special and perfectly done every time. The tarte flambee is also a delicious way to start the meal. I wouldn't recommend for vegetarians.
Like a Heineken commercial
The service was very attentive. Our water glasses were never empty. There were alway smiles from the wait staff. The food was very good. We had the ham and truffle beignets, escargots, grilled octopus and the steak au poivre. We also had the profiteroles for dessert. All were excellent! We were both very happy. The place is crowded and noisy so not for those who are looking for a quiet conversation.
Best steak in town, great martini's. Wine list very nice and perfect lighting
Great energy and still a classic. Went with the family and wish they allowed the burgers to be served at the table, but for whatever their reason you can only eat a hamburger at the bar. Doesn't really make much sense, but I guess they feel it's not fancy enough to serve a burger at a tab or not expensive enough to have that. Just charge more for the burger if that's the case, but it's odd to serve a burger 5 feet away from a table and not allow it to be ordered by someone else. Otherwise always a good time at Raoul's and I've been going since you used to be able to eat behind the kitchen (which I miss).
What I most appreciated about Raoul's is the prompt attention to our making reservations on a busy Saturday evening. We had to change the original time of the reservation and every effort was made to accommodate our request.
The noise level was a drawback but we were compensated by food and attentive service.
Raoul's is a neighborhood gem. My husband and I are glad that the restaurant is still in business and one of the few remaining bistros left in the City.
We are from Boston but we have always liked dining in Soho New York because of its vibrant yet cozy and neighborly atmosphere. Raoul's fits this category of restaurant . We went as a family of 3 and the menu is diverse enough to satisfy our very different tastes. We had the charred octopus, lamb terrine and escargots on toast for appetizers and we like all 3 dishes very much. We are also (pleasantly) surprised by the portion sizes of each plate so we think it is good valued. The octopus was cooked to perfection and it is nice to have good-sized escargots that you can bite into. All 3 plates have very strong flavors which I think instead of building up to the entrees actually compete with the latter for taste. Although Raoul's is known for its frites au poivre, we actually had the chicken with a tomato-based risotto, scallops with an uni risotto, and the fish (I think it is a cod filet) dish with vegetables. They all tasted fine except I thought the scallops was over buttered which overwhelmed its natural taste. Nonetheless, the scallops were cooked well and it is a good dish. Again, we thought the risotto was a bit heavy although we were relatively stuffed by the time we eat it (and, I know, risotto is supposed to be rich anyway.) In terms of service, the wait staff team (and these days all the fancier restaurants have serving teams rather than 1 individual waiter per table) was attentive and efficient. However, the "head" waiter shows an attitude and gave us that "oh, you are not one of our regulars" look the moment he greeted us. I don't find any of them friendly or warm. (I guess this is a French-themed restaurant after all!) They have a lot of nude pictures on the wall which I supposed they are there to put you in the mood. It had been a pleasant experience but I will visit the other restaurants in the neighborhood before returning. There are a lot of other choices here. Bon appetit!
After all these years, still the best French bistro in NYC.
Good food and vibes
Raoul’s is always great! Hosts, waitstaff, cocktails and of course the food. Just be prepared: crowded, cozy, costly.
Great meal as always. Go during the week and meet the Maitre D’ Eddie. Always makes us feel like we are home. Can’t wait for the next visit. Oh and by the way, everything is terrific. And that’s coming from a jaded New Yorker.
Very delicious and warming. Nicely ang interestingly decorated.
Very tasty burger and the steak was fabulous too. Also very good service.
It’s good. I wouldn’t say it’s a must-visit, but I could see it being a consistently delicious spot if you’re not familiar with the area. The food was good though, so choose this place over a touristy nightmare for sure.
We love Raouls! It is our go-to restaurant when we go to the City. We love the cosy, authentic atmosphere, the delicious food and the friendly yet professional service.
One of my favorite New York restaurants. I have celebrated multiple birthdays and gatherings with friends here. The food is delicious and so are the martinis!
We love this spot!! Great all around! The food is delicious. We always get the frisee salad. Staff is great as well.
Fabulous atmosphere, food exceptional, highly recommended
