Terrible service. This place is very pretentious. They wouldn’t even let me sit at the bar in an open seat while I wanted for the rest of my party to join me.

Wonderful place EXCEPT the booths are extremely tightly packed. I am not overweight at all and my stomach was two inches from the table when I sat all the way back. You certainly cannot lean back on your chair or you hit the table in front of you. Very cramped.

We will be back, just not at a booth.

I'm from Chicago and get to NYC at least once per year. Your restaurant is always a favorite and has never disappointed me or my guest. Truly a great dinning experience.

We have been wanting to eat at Raoul's for brunch for many years but we always end up there for dinner. This time we finally made it with out of town guests and all of us were more than pleased with the food, drinks, service and host staff. Having finally eaten here for brunch, we were most pleased--as we assumed we would be.

We used to spend many wonderful evenings at Raoul's. The staff was unfriendly, there was a feeling of being rushed. The place is not charming and authentic any longer. It was a special occasion and we were very disappointed.

Little attention to customers. A little condescending on the service side.
On the pricey side for the value you get.

We were in NYC for a getaway weekend before the Holidays. We were given a romantic and private booth which was so appreciated! Our server was fantastic and his recommendations spot on. We had delicious cocktails before our wine. The oysters were so fresh! The escargot amazing. Entrees were fantastic. And the sticky toffee pudding a sweet ending to a memorable dining experience. We will be back!

Raoul's is a classic --- no need to say anything more. Order the steak frites, have a glass of Bordeaux and take in the scene. A surviving slice of old NYC ...

My request to the server to remove the raw onion topping for my "Raoul's Hamburger" was curtly admonished with the bizarre proclamation that "Chef will not remove the topping under any circumstance. Raoul's hamburger must be eaten as presented". Revealing my hand-slapping scheme to remove the onions myself, I then requested the ketsup for my French fries...and was instructed after a sour-faced pause that he would bring ketsup only if I used it on the fries NOT on the burger. Really people. It's a hamburger!

Eating at Raouls is, to my mind, what a Parisian diner experiences except transplanted to New York. Cozy romantic lighting. Posters and paintings on the wall. Eclectic setting.Tables close together or booths. Very French menu and wine list. Excellent friendly service and fabulous food. Absolutely delicious!Clink of silverware and glasses. Conversation and laughter mixed with music. Low lighting. A small bar scene.
Original and Needless to say, our favorite restaurant. We will return again and again and again.

Celebrated a major birthday here, just the two of us. Got here early before the crowds and the crowding. Had a delicious meal. Really really good. Quite pricey. But worth it. Service was friendly and very professional. The ambience is cozy and quirky. My only wish is that the restaurant wasn’t so crowded. But getting here early solves that.

Raoul's is my favorite French bistro type restaurant west of Paris. The classics of this cuisine, such as salad frisée, beef tartar, and escargot are superb. The fish dishes are top notch. While I came the first time for the justifiably heralded burger, I found it to be my gateway entree to the rest of the menu. The staff is friendly and helpful. Come often enough and you feel like family. The vibe is classic late 70's, but only the good parts. You feel like you are visiting a time and place where Warhol might come and sit next to you. A time when trump was only a short fingered vulgarian developer. Can't recommend the place highly enough.

Raoul's is always great, every time. The signature dishes, artichoke and the steak au poivre, never disappoint, but this time we also got the escargots which were delicious, served on toast with mushrooms as well - so good! The rabbit appetizer that my son ordered, was his favorite dish of the night - delicious flavors.

The burger at brunch is as good as it gets, make sure to cut in half to dip it in the sauce. Excellent fries to go with it, and a great crab beignet for appetizer. Deserves its spot on the best burger list.

The accolades for Raoul's are well-deserved. Those who complain about the space and the noise might want to choose another restaurant. Raoul's has always been crowded and has always been noisy. Some would say that both add to its charm; others would disagree. We skipped our usual appetizer (octopus) for dessert (profiteroles)and were not disappointed. Otherwise the usual: steak frites and the one pasta on the menu. We'll return soon.
