Rao's Hollywood Ratings and Reviews
Rao's is the Italian restaurant of your cinematic dreams. It's always Christmastime here and the ambiance is New York sophisticated with a theme park flair. The service is always impeccable - your table is always visited by a family member right out of Central Casting "NYC Italian" division. And the food is amazing - the sauces, the pasta, the chicken, the wine, the mini cannoli. While the prices are high - maybe about double what would be considered "average" for an Italian restaurant, the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere make the difference almost an "admission fee" for the unforgettable experience at hand.
Been wanting to try Rao's for a while - Harlem is the flagship and one in Vegas. Ambiance cool - more casual than I thought it would be. Mix ranging from of couples to families - tee shirts to jackets . Sat inside in a booth. Service very attentive - manager, hostess etc stopped by multiple times.
Overall food was great. Seafood salad and burrata salad awesome. Meatball appetizer the bomb - truly could be an entree. Had spaghetti aoile oilia - ok not great. Doused in latter and not to big a serving.
Most disappointing - they ran out of bread before 10PM on a Saturday. What?
All in worth the visit.
We have eaten at other location, but this was our first time at the Los Angeles location. The menu does not offer some of my favorite items from the other locations. There were plenty of alternatives to choose from. All of the dishes we ordered were excellent. The meatballs are a must order as well as the cheese cake. Our waiter Jonathan made our evening extra special. Jonathan was very personable and made some great recommendations. We have put this on our list of must return to restaurants.
Our first time here, and I was really looking forward to Penne Alla Vodka, and it did not disappoint! We also very much enjoyed the superb Ceasar salad, and meatballs for appetizers. My GF had the Linguini and clams, and was a little underwhelmed. Neither of us are a fan of the canned clams that are added to it, with a few fresh steamed clams. Maybe others like it, but seems to bring out the fishy taste with canned clams. The service was great, and loved the atmosphere. will def be back, as we are interested in trying other dishes as well.
Raos is the first place we eat when we land into LA. We wish they were in Miami. The food is excellent, the service is outsiding and friendly and management always makes sure your having a pleasant experience. We dream of Raos.
A definite MUST visit restaurant.
Amazing, amazing food! I basically got two dinners so I could eat it again the next night. Loved the Frank Sinatra music playing, the waiter who guided us through the menu and attended to our every need before we even needed it, and the outdoor area in the back with lights and heat lamps. But really, just the food is hands down enough to come here for!! SOOO good! Italian lovers - you must try. My new favorite spot!! Great for dates, family, and events. I want to have a Christmas party here!
Rao's has an authentic Italian menu, with a sauce as good as my grandfather's. The pasta is cooked right, portions are substantial, cocktails are solid--couldn't ask for anything better. The staff are accommodating and welcoming. Remember to say hi to Johnny Roast Beef when you go.
Made a reservation on Open Table for a “standard” table (i.e. not outside) for 8:15pm on a Saturday. Reservation was made several days earlier and I left my Credit Card number to hold the reservation. When I got there with my date, we were sent to the end of an outside table that was really just the end of a 10 top banquet table in the middle of all of the traffic in the room. Very far from heaters and it was a cold night. After specifically reserving an inside table. This was unacceptable. They couldn’t solve it. So we left. Not a good date!! Be warned!!!!!
The food and the ambiance were great. Very cozy, classy, and beautiful. However, the service was a little slow. We waited for about 20 minutes for them to take our order, and the food didn't come out till about 45 minutes later. It was good for the conversation and the company though.
