The food was as good as any good Southern Italian restaurant. However, the service was amazing!

One caveat.... when making my OpenTable reservation, I requested an indoor table. That request doesn't show up on the restaurant reservations!

We were seated on the patio, but after turning off the heater, which was blasting hot, it turned out to be a better place to sit. It was much quieter.

Rao's Hollywood is one of our favorite restaurants in the world. We love the ambiance, the service and especially the food. In California it is not easy to find this quality of Italian food since my mother stopped cooking.

Went for the meatballs, stayed for the cheesecake! Everything in between was great, too. The cheesecake is to die for...honestly, the best I’ve ever had by far. The carbonara was executed to perfection. My family and I loved every bite. Will definitely go back here again!

I would recommend Rao’s for the food and for the food alone. The servers relied too heavily on their bussing crew, and the bussing crew lacked table service etiquette (clearing plates that still had food, breaking into conversations by reaching in front of people’s faces etc...). The servers, although pleasant and knowledgeable, didn’t table touch. Took the order and didn’t see them again. Ended up asking a porter for the dessert menu.

As far as atmosphere, lighting is lovely, photos are cute, but setting is too cramped and feeds to a too loud environment— breaking any hope of intimate conversation. Our party was able to hear far more of our neighbors conversation than our own.

The food is delicious. The meatballs (a classic) were of course up to par. The penne and rigatoni were prepared to perfection, and the veal blew me away. Even after gorging on the delicious meal, we still made room for some of the best cheesecake I’ve ever had.

If I were to come back to Rao’s, I would feel pressured to ask when the quietest/least busy time of day to come is. I love that this place is popular, it deserves the recognition, but I wish I didn’t get a Chili’s restaurant experience with food that is difficult to rival.

Incredible Gastronomic Experience as always
Having grown up at Raos from birth in NYC I look forward to the same incredible experience always
However last night was slightly interesting our server was a little to aggressive and pushy on various levels
Not representative of what Raos stands for I have not experienced such in NYC or Vegas

I've been a few times although this time the service seem to have been served my a bus person than a wait person. They were always busy busing tables instead of servicing their tables.
Chicken Parm had way too much cheese topping it.

I never post a negative review without first trying to resolve with the restaurant. I took the time to send them a thoughtful email only to receive a note back saying basically we can't help you call the restaurant. Not going to do that. If they don't care enough to forward to the restaurant then I'm not going to either.

The service was slow to non-existent, the food was sub par compared to my usual experiences at Rao's, and the customer service post experience was unsatisfactory.

I'm done.

Excellent traditional Italian-American ‘red sauce’ food in a warm friendly atmosphere. Getting into Rao’s in NYC is virtually impossible unless you ‘own’ a table or know a celebrity or billionaire who does. So to have the Rai’s experience accessible to everyone is a treat. And surprisingly reasonable. Will definitely return.

Everyone at Rao’s treats you like you belong there so o can’t/won’t call anyone out specifically. That should say it all. Been going for years for regular dinners and special family get togethers. Love it.

This restaurant always feels like a special evening. The food is simple and tasty Northern Italian. They limit the number of ingredients and do it right. The service is spot on and the ambiance is "throw back" to the '60s. I expect the Rat Pack to be having a party in the back room. We had the classic Lemon Chicken, Linguini with Clams and Chicken Milanese and all were spot on, as was the Caesar Salad.

We have been many times with no problems. Unfortunately this time happened to be a special occasion and there were some issues. When making the reservation we were given the option to select inside or patio. Knowing that it would be cold we selected inside. Unfortunately the hostess said they had no indication of that. And we were seated at the absolute last table on the patio, which backs up against a screen that leads to the outside. They had heaters which helped a little but it was still quite chilly.

In addition, in the special requests field I indicated that it was a birthday celebration. Apparently that information didn't make it to the restaurant either. So no indication that they knew anything about it.

A great evening out for our 30th wedding anniversary. Everything about Rao’s was perfect from the romantic ambience and cheerful staff to the comforting southern Italian cuisine. Don’t go without trying the yummy meatballs. Chicken Parm, rigatoni bolognese and a tangy kale salad were great and not even the dreamy chocolate cake could top the 16 Oz. Veal chop pounds thin and served Parmesan style, it was the size of the platter. All the entrees was enough for two. We’ll be back soon , this might become our favorite Italian in town.0

First off, the young man who is the baker is always so courteous and helpful
We were greeted by the most lovely hostesses, eye contact. Warm and welcoming , accommodating.

For our server tonight we have Beatrice. Aka B<3
Knowledgeable, kind, attentive

Our Bus Boy, Marcos, AMAZING!!! Attentive to all our needs and wishes. He helped us with a spaghetti sauce cover up on the table. Saves us from being embarrassed. My dad was drinking iced coffee. Instead of a tacky cup, Marcos brought dad a fabulous glass with an amazing presentation of iced coffee.

Food, Amazing
Noah, Adorable

Went for an early dinner with my teenager before a show at the Hudson. Friendly servers and the food came quickly, but the server got my order wrong (even though I corrected her when she first read it back to me incorrectly). She replaced it with the correct dish quickly enough but didn’t do anything else to make up for the error.

We had salad, pasta, and a dessert. The food was good, standard Italian. Nothing special, nothing to complain about. I had a good cocktail, the spark plug. Big pictures of famous Italian-American actors on the walls, white holiday lights, and a fire in the fireplace give a nice sense of ambiance.

Incredible food that is consistently good and an amazing atmosphere. Meatballs are so light, eggplant parm and linguine and clams are delicious and the sausage and peppers can’t be beat. Plus best cheesecake ever. The kids love it as much as we do as the hosts make them feel special - like family.
