Food was phenomenal. Service perfect. Rao's is always a great dining experience and a treat.
We have been many times with no problems. Unfortunately this time happened to be a special occasion and there were some issues. When making the reservation we were given the option to select inside or patio. Knowing that it would be cold we selected inside. Unfortunately the hostess said they had no indication of that. And we were seated at the absolute last table on the patio, which backs up against a screen that leads to the outside. They had heaters which helped a little but it was still quite chilly.
In addition, in the special requests field I indicated that it was a birthday celebration. Apparently that information didn't make it to the restaurant either. So no indication that they knew anything about it.
We had a great dinner at Rao’s! Staff was very welcoming and friendly, food was delicious and we had a great table by the fire. Will definitely be back again!
Wonderful time celebrating friends birthday.
A great evening out for our 30th wedding anniversary. Everything about Rao’s was perfect from the romantic ambience and cheerful staff to the comforting southern Italian cuisine. Don’t go without trying the yummy meatballs. Chicken Parm, rigatoni bolognese and a tangy kale salad were great and not even the dreamy chocolate cake could top the 16 Oz. Veal chop pounds thin and served Parmesan style, it was the size of the platter. All the entrees was enough for two. We’ll be back soon , this might become our favorite Italian in town.0
Nothing beats the food ,except the attentive professional staff.
Wonderful! As it always is and keeps me coming back.
First off, the young man who is the baker is always so courteous and helpful
We were greeted by the most lovely hostesses, eye contact. Warm and welcoming , accommodating.
For our server tonight we have Beatrice. Aka B<3
Knowledgeable, kind, attentive
Our Bus Boy, Marcos, AMAZING!!! Attentive to all our needs and wishes. He helped us with a spaghetti sauce cover up on the table. Saves us from being embarrassed. My dad was drinking iced coffee. Instead of a tacky cup, Marcos brought dad a fabulous glass with an amazing presentation of iced coffee.
Thank you so much guys
Went for an early dinner with my teenager before a show at the Hudson. Friendly servers and the food came quickly, but the server got my order wrong (even though I corrected her when she first read it back to me incorrectly). She replaced it with the correct dish quickly enough but didn’t do anything else to make up for the error.
We had salad, pasta, and a dessert. The food was good, standard Italian. Nothing special, nothing to complain about. I had a good cocktail, the spark plug. Big pictures of famous Italian-American actors on the walls, white holiday lights, and a fire in the fireplace give a nice sense of ambiance.
Incredible food that is consistently good and an amazing atmosphere. Meatballs are so light, eggplant parm and linguine and clams are delicious and the sausage and peppers can’t be beat. Plus best cheesecake ever. The kids love it as much as we do as the hosts make them feel special - like family.
Amazing experience all around!
Great food, atmosphere and drinks were nice and strong. Awesome homemade tasting Italian food. Only problem is we didn’t have enough time to try dessert as we were in a rush to get to the Pantages. We shared a meatball, baked clams, Caesar salad and the carbonara sauce with fusilli pasta( which we asked for spaghetti) but that was OK. Very friendly staff and manger came by to see if all was good. Just great all around!
One of my all-time favorite spots in LA. Best pork chop in the city. My go to spot for both personal and business dinners. Juke box is icing on the cake.
It could be a very loud at times since it’s an enclosed space with a lot of other tables, but the food is delicious! I personally wasn’t a fan of the Lemon Chicken, but I changed it for the Chicken Milanese and it was simple yet very satisfying. I will be dreaming about the Arugula Salad for a very long time!! The red wine vinaigrette was spot on!
Just for reference, there were two of us and we dined on Saturday night around 9:00pm. We had the rigatoni bolognese, chicken Milanese, and the arugula salad. Cocktail was the Black & Blue goose with blue cheese olives.
I do think it’s a little pricey, but the food was delicious so I can’t knock them for that.
Very loud so go after happy hour - 7:30-8.
Food was delicious. Veal Milanese not as good as I hoped. Everything else delicious. Bartender makes great cocktails! We’ll be back!
Our waiter did a great job steering us toward the special offerings - their meatballs, the roasted peppers with mozzarella, fiocchi, veal parm. Service was leisurely, but that also meant zero sense of feeling rushed out there. Nice ambience on the patio. Valet parking. Definitely planning to go back soon.
Could not have had a better experience. Food was incredible, service impeccable. Fantastic ambience- upscale, not too stuffy. A great meal overall. Can’t wait to come back!
Even on a very busy Saturday evening, the food, service and ambiance were all fantastic. They handled our large party (8 people) very well - even splitting the check at one of the guests' requests.
Our server was great, sorry can’t remember her name. Food always good! And Johnny Roast beef!!
Amazing service and food. Get the meatballs.
They put very little meat in the Bolognese Sauce and added oregano (what!?) the Mussels Arrabbiata were sublime. veal Parm was ok. Too much cheese and sauce was mediocre. Over priced. Over rated. I’m Sicilian from NY. Have eaten here twice. Not impressed. Hated what they’ve done to Hollywood. Raid is dwarfed now on Seward St because of over construction. It sucks.
The best! Great food as always, friendly staff and the garden ambiance is lovely. My friends were blown away and they’re definitely coming back! Thanks for a great evening!
Great food and ambiance. Definitely try the veal piccata. Tender and delicious! Great service too! Definitely a winner!
It is clearly the best New York Style Italian food in Los Angeles. The sauces are all authentic and tasty. The atmosphere is pure New York. If that's what you're looking for, there is none better. If you want a Northern Italy fine dining experience, this is not your place!
Wonderful experience and meal as always!
I mean, not much to say. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent ambiance.
Waiter was funny and warm, suggested family style and made suggestions to ensure enough food and right balance to meal. Warm, inviting, felt taken care of
Patrick - host par excellence - but in Italian better to say "ospite perfetto" - helps set the tone for a welcoming experience. Our server (this time) Noah took us through all the phase of our meal with an excellent pace, without pressure, or a moment where things were requiring attention. Glasses were never empty and of course, stomachs were full!
Rao's is a gem - creative menu, consistently high food quality and so many options to have a great meal without breaking the bank.
This was a special occasion for to celebrate my wife's birthday. However, all of the food items that we ordered were over seasoned (oregano spicy) and the veal chop was overcooked. The server attempted to sell us all the most expensive items on the menu. We left without finishing out\r meal because my wife had a stomach ache. We were very disappointed with the entire experience.
The restaurant had Valet parking for a $12.00 fee and this provided a huge convenience. Our server Jonathan was a great Server and provided outstanding service throughout the experience. The food was simply delicious! We tried the meatballs and they were great. The Caesar Salad had cold crisp lettuce with a terrific balance of dressing and croutons. The Pasta was Outstanding! The entire staff was friendly and very accommodating. If you make it to Desert then don't forget to try the tiramisu. (WOW)
This was my sister's first time at Rao's and my friends & I have been there twice now. The food and the ambiance are perfection. It's such an enjoyable dining out experience!
Love Rao’s. Start with the Meatballs along with a negroni or a Manhattan. Love the lemon chicken or the chicken scarpiella. the pastas are fabulous!
I had a birthday dinner for my son at Rao's. It was a table of eight, comprised of both baby-boomers and millenials. Everyone loved the food. The service and ambiance were outstanding. Considering that we all ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees, I was pleasantly surprised by the final bill, because it was less than I anticipated. Great place to dine while in LA!
Outstanding evening, and outstanding service.
Our HANDS DOWN favorite restaurant!
Fantastic food from the famed NYC eatery. Service is excellent and it has that classic old world Italian charm to it. Veal dishes are excellent and cheese cake is not to be missed.
A classic Italian American restaurant, a kindred spirit with Dan Tana's but with a more focused menu. It is expensive but the quality is there in every dish. The room is swanky and the crowd energetic. Service is gracious, friendly and attentive. Meatballs are a must!
Love Raos. Could eat here once a week. The cocktails are the best in the city. The food is delicious. The service is perfect. And the atmosphere is clubby and perfect.
Wonderful food staff and surroundings. This is one of my favorite restaurants. I was thrilled to find they had opened one in Hollywood. Thanks for a great meal and dining experience. They got us fed in time to make the Rod Stewart concert
