The food was delicious but Johnny Roast beef made it an extra special night. ! Can’t wait to go back when I am back in town
Good always delicious! New York style.
Food mediocre. Waiter unprofessional. Overpriced
Birthday for my wife, everything was wonderful.
Absolutely fabulous me and my family will recommend to friends and family. We will be back.
It was a fabulous evening spent with our best friends.
The entire staff made us feel so welcomed.
It is truly a very very special place that we love!
Classic, old-school red-sauce Italian with great food and welcoming management and friendly wait staff.
It was great fun! Great drinks, food and atmosphere
The place had a nice setting and the food was delicious. Can be pricey depending on your budget but I thought it was fair pricing for the quality of the food/service. They also have some cheaper menu items. Overall, am going back for date night and would recommend to others.
Food is great but the service matches the food! Love going back over and over.
The meatballs at this legendary haunt lived up to their reputation. They are out of this world. Overall the food is very good. The atmosphere was welcoming in an old styled neighborhood way
Service could have been more consistent. Food was very good and timely. We came early evening and the sound level was good, when we left it was getting objectionable. Biggest drawback - valet at $13!
The food was excellent! The service outstanding! The only think I can say that was not perfect was the noise level--the restaurant could use a bit of noise level sound proofing.
I love this place! It never disappoints. The food is always good and the staff is very charming and likable. I can't wait to go back.
I would have preferred a table inside near bar since two of us were seated near two large birthday parties which was distracting but not as loud as we expected
Best place for a birthday dinner or a date! Rao’s Never disappoints. Food is fantastic. Ambiance is killer.
Never disappoints. Great little intimate hideaway in the heart of Hollywood. Love this place
Brought friends visiting from Reno. Everything was even better than we expected from the moment Johnny Roast Beef warmly greeted us to saying goodnight. Our server was attentive but not pushy and gave great suggestions like the fantastic meat balls to start. The four of us each had a different dish and all of them were fantastic especially the shrimp scampi. Great wine suggestion from the sommelier. Look forward to our next dining experience at Rao’s Hollywood.
If you’re looking for an authentic NY Italian experience in LA, this is it. Veal Parm. Sunday Gravy. That’s all I can say.
This old school red sauce joint is truly Italian American at its finest. Sauces are so good and seem fresh. Pasta is perfect al dente. The seafood salad is wonderful, and the veal parm is great. I can't wait to go back and try the cioppino and other dishes.
Great food.Great service
Amazing food and great service
Great atmosphere. Great decor and service was great!
Girlfriend and I enjoyed the food.
Best restaurant meal I ever had
Very very good rate service not like Dantanas Dantanas if set the hell are you before some down to you and make you wait an hour before your reservation this place is definitely off the hook
Best meatballs West of NYC. Had the Sunday Sauce which was just like someone’s Nonna made it. This Brooklyn girl felt like she was home.
Great food, great service and a fun neighborhood Italian restaurant vibe.
This is a wonderful restaurant. There are so many excellent Italian restaurants in Los Angeles that it is very hard to distinguish one from another. That said, however, Rao’s is able to do so - door, seating, food, NYC pedigree and feel- consistently. Rao’s is top notch
We are big fans of Rao's. We go there to celebrate birthdays and bring family members for a night out.
The wait staff and manager are all so great and so much fun. All the food was great, but my wife's Linguine and clams were a little saltier then usual. But all is forgiven because no matter what, you have the cheesecake for dessert and it is soon good. We will be back soon!!
Extremely noisy, and hard to hear, but we enjoyed it as a group of eight very much… Or as much as we could hope to when we could hear each other.
We were celebrating two birthdays and, even though the hostess asked me about them when I checked in for our reservation, they didn't do anything for us in the end.
I dine at Rao's often, and I always enjoy my evening there. The food is ample, delicious and cooked perfectly. Jonathan is an incredibly efficient, attentive and charming waiter. Gabriel always, and I mean always, makes the perfect cocktail. And then there's Johnny Roastbeef, who makes everyone feel special when they're at Rao's. The entire staff is incredible.
Fantastic as always! Excellent service, fantastic food and great atmosphere. Super authentic Italian kitchen.
We had tickets for Kinky Boots so I made a reservation for 6pm last Thursday. We were seated right away, had our drink order taken right away, and got our bread basket right away! Service was attentive, but not overly familiar which can sometimes be annoying. We had the friend mozzarella, perfectly crispy and the marinara that accompanied it was well seasoned. I had the brown butter ravioli, the sauce and sage were good but I’d say the filling could’ve used more flavor. My date had the Carbonara which was super creamy, and very flavorful! can’t tell you how many times I’ve been served scrambled eggs and been disappointed with restaurant Carbonara, this was not the case at Rao’s. Yummy Cannoli (which had a nice crunchy shell and a orangey filling) and cappuccino for dessert 😋 Only negative, our table was in the bar area and we got overtook with waiting guests by the end of our dinner, I’ll request a table away from the bar next time.
Visited Rao’s tonight to celebrate my partner’s birthday. It was our first visit to this restaurant, though he had been to the one in New York several times. The bustling restaurant has a great vibe and feels as if you stepped into a classic Italian restaurant in New York. The GM, Patrick, and our waiter, Mark, were most hospitable and welcoming. We split a Milanese salad (quite large), and we shared the bone-in veal Parmesan and the lamb ragu pappardelle... spectacular and so delicious! Finished up with slices of New York Cheesecake and their Chocolate cake (light and chocolatey good). All in all a great night. Can’t wait to go back!
Great New York atmosphere and food. However, much too loud for a romantic or quiet evening.
Delicious food. FANTASTIC SERVICE. Love this place - each and every time I go, it is wonderful.
