We now found out that this restaurant closed a couple of months ago so when we got there we had to find another place to eat. You should update OpenTable.

Really seemed off it’s game. We’ve dined here frequently and held large dinner at Range previously. Love the food but all else was quite lacking.

I gather this restaurant is going/went out of business. We were there for Sunday brunch. 3 out of 5 of us order the frittata and it was mostly inedible. The wait staff was slow and did not follow one diner's request regarding the order of service of his food. This was a very pricey disappointment.

Sadly the somewhat average brunch food was altogether forgotten due to way below average service. Celebrated Easter over brunch at Range. While the restaurant was 1/3 full at best, the service was unprofessional, slow and at the end (after we had to bug our server for our food, condiments, drinks and check) just rude. As examples, my son ordered a soda, which was forgotten so we had to remind the server about it, so she brought it over in a huff and handed him the bottle. No glass. No straw. At no point did we ever see salt & pepper or any other condiment. My cup was leaking coffee everywhere. No one asked if they could help. Our brunch took forever so we had to ask the server to chase it down. Miraculously it was all ready and probably had been for 15 minutes. It was as if the staff were on a cigarette break the whole time we were there. At the end someone who appeared to be a manager swung by and cleared my sons fries while almost knocking him in the head with the cast iron skillet. Never asked if he was done. When my husband asked this manager for the check, she brought it over but never asked how brunch was. She seemed equally disinterested in being there. When we left, the server was clearly happy to see us go. No happy Easter or thanks for joining us. There are too many other good brunch places to bother with Range ever again.

After finding this on a "don't miss on DC visit" list, booked brunch here Sunday and was beyond disappointed. Booking and seating was easy and the bus staff was incredibly attentive, but the wait staff was out to lunch, kitchen crazy slow, and management rude. The food wasn't bad, but in the end we had to take to go as we had to travel. Location in a mall totally unappealing. Visit family in area frequently, but will not return.

I was very un impressed with Range. It has a cafeteria feel and a very limited menu. Even though our server was very nice, he did not come around to check on us. We had to request refills on our water and drinks and ended up requesting our check from another person ( maybe a manager) because our waiter was no where to be found. The food was average at best. Not a do over for us.

The food was delicious! We tried some old favorites and some new dishes from the chef. The classic cocktails were a relief from the badly made, hipster drinks once served here. The Manager she was exceptional and everyone else who helped us were top notch as well. Both friendly, helpful, professional and super attentive. A great night! The bad reviews we read are very deceiving and unnecessary and we were glad we read into them; since the negativity was not even close to the great experience we had. Sounds like these negative reviews come from diners that don't get out much or are extremely bored. Service was efficient, classic cocktails were spot on, we didn't wait or want for anyone or anything, timing was good. This is a cool place with a great vibe. Highly recommend to friends and family, if you are looking for a more casual upscale atmosphere. This is not fine dining and for that reason alone, you will enjoy it more. We will definitely be back and we are locals. Great service.

Private Event Space. The Dinner was wonderful and the service staff did a super job too. The alcove room was actually better for our family gathering than what we had expected. The website description and name do not do it justice. We kind of expected an area that was just set back from the rest of Range. It was both nicer and more private. Again, kudos. Great vibe. Great service. Good food and beverage.

This was the third time I've eaten at Range. The first time the menu was unique and the food was delicious. The second visit, the food was fair to good. The menu seems to have changed with fewer vegetable options and the meal was just fair. The service is still good and the ambiance is very pleasant.

After having several very positive experiences at Range-- we were sadly disappointed when we went there Saturday night. The restaurant was approximately half full-- but it seemed understaffed for the patronage. We were very disappointed with the changed menu. The cocktails were less inventive and seemed more akin to a casual dining options. Fewer meat options, and a pared down menu all of which led to a feeling of loss fine dining. The ribeye that we ordered was over cooked; the highlight of the meal was the charcuterie plate, but even that was missing something to round it out. Very disappointed and will not go back until the menu is changed!

Range always hires friendly and attentive staff that take care to know you and know what you like. As a returning customer, we are always treated like revered family and get served the best. If you want an even more intimate experience, sit by the chef’s counter and see them prepare your food, talk to the chefs, and develop a closer relationship with the kitchen and your food than you have never had anywhere else. We will not stop celebrating our important milestones at this restaurant.

Had an extremely enjoyable time at Range. The service, from the greeter, to the servers and runners, was excellent. Very professional, friendly and attentive. Enjoyed some excellent food... the bread basket contains the best biscuits I've ever had!! Creative dishes, with some familiar favorites for the less adventurous. The food was delicious, presentation was beautiful and the portions were deceptively filling. We didn't feel stuffed (or sick) but were definitely satisfied! Enjoyed some amazingly crafted chocolates and wonderful mousse for dessert. Will absolutely be back soon and highly recommend it!

Was not impressed. The chairs we sat in were high-backed, almost a bench, and it was very hard to get in and out of your seat gracefully. I ordered the fried chicken. On the pro side: it was a lot of food so that was a good value (really 2 servings worth) and the biscuits were tasty as was the pepper jelly. On the con side: the chicken was not very seasoned, it was dry and not crispy or tasty. Other pros: the service was very good and the restaurant remembered it was my birthday.

I’ve been to range many times and have been overly impressed. Yet, today, the service was off. The food was good, yet with as many people in the restaurant even the management didn’t pay us many mind. The waiter messed up the drink order, we got new drinks. He messed up the food order, tried to double charge me and I caught that. No ask for refills on drinks, would gladly had wine with dinner but no dice. Messed up the dessert order. We ordered all “ prepared “ items and it took 25 mins to get. The waiter was more worried about the cigarette he smoked which we could smell as he served us. Coming in at 8:30 and leaving at 10:45 for appetizer type food is not acceptable. Hearing a chef yell “ food runner “ isn’t acceptable either. The place was empty, yet the service was sub par. Sad, this was once a nice place and carried a heavy ratting. Sadly, I’ll never go back based on my experience today.

Well Range continues to disappoint. We live in the neighborhood and love supporting local businesses but this will be our last trip to Range. We've had very mixed experiences in the past and decided to give it a try last night. We had an 8pm reservation and were seated promptly. After looking at the menu and cocktail menu, we ordered drinks and a shared appetizer from our server. Around 8:30 someone else brought over a complimentary bread basket to us which was very nice, but it had been sitting under a heat lamp so the bread was a little crusty on the outside. At about the same time, a manager came by to take our entry order and our wine order. At 8:45 the wine was served...still no cocktails or appetizer. We then noticed that our appetizer was deliver a table near us. We had ordered a dozen oysters they had only order 6; the server told them to keep the dozen (which we overheard). A few minutes late our oysters were delivered. At this point we are well into our bottle of wine. I asked the server about our cocktails and he motioned to the bar and said "they're sitting right over there." I told him never mind at this point (almost an hour since we were seated). The manager then brought the cocktails and said that they were complimentary. I thanked her but declined at well over and hour into the process. Our server never refilled our wine glasses the entire evening. Our entrees arrived and were good. This experience, like previously visits to Range, was another example of good food and lousy service at this restaurant. Mr. Voltaggio needs to pay a visit to this property and put it back on track and soon.

The best thing about the restaurant is its convenient location (if you're staying in the Embassy Suites) and it's lovely atmosphere with plenty of space between tables and a quiet but upbeat vibe. The food was mixed. The kale caesar salad was delicious, and my dining companions enjoyed enjoyed their cheese sampler, and octopus appetizers. The pizza got mixed reviews. As for entrees, i had the fish special and it was delicious but my son had the $41 steak, which he said was half fat and cooked to medium well, even though he'd ordered it medium rare. Which leads us to service. Our waiter clearly knew nothing- including was the fish of the day was, or not to take away a wine glass that still contained wine. Our pizza came out wrong the first time. And after our food came he never once came to ask how everything was, so my son couldn't complain about the steak. When he finally came to clear the dishes, he pretty much rolled his eyes and got annoyed at my son's complaint. We ultimately called the manager over and got the steak removed from the bill. If our waiter had been inept but nice, we would have been forgiving. But add his complete lack of knowledge and inept service, and we left saying we would never return. At these prices you expect better.

Not sure how this place is still in business. It was totally dead on a Friday night. Portions were tiny, prices were enormous and service was slow. First round of drinks wasn’t as good as the second. Though, both pours were short. Bottom line, totally disappointed. Many better options in that area. I won’t go back.

The food is good, but the service is terrible. To start, both of us had water glasses that had lip smears on them and needed to be replaced. After ordering a bottle of wine, it seemed forever before we were told that the one we chose was no longer available. Two alternatives were presented, at a slightly higher price (not comped). One of the wine glasses was chipped on the rim and a replacement requested. After waiting a ridiculous amount of time for it, I resorted to using an empty water glass from the empty adjacent table. A half hour after being seated, our food order still had not been taken and I had to ask if we could please order. No apologies were given for any of these issues. Also, the restaurant was not busy and it seemed that there were lots of staff standing around, so there was no excuse for the long wait for the wine, the replacement of a chipped glass, or for taking our order. This is truly unacceptable and unfortunate for a restaurant that could be better.

I stay at the Embassy Suites 3 times a year and alway look forward to eating at the Range. I have had wonderful meals in the past until this Sunday. not sure if it was an off day and the regular cook was off watching the Oscars. The steak was cooked perfectly but a bit tough. and it was floated in some cooked vegetables that were only ok. not a attractive presentation. I also had the frittes. bit greasy and not the usually well cooked preparation. I will be back and try again, but they need to step it up for the Sunday night business crowd.

Overall, we were disappointed. The Range came in with a lot of fan fair but the service was a about average and the food (specifically our steak) was far less than we would have expected. We also ordered wine and the incorrect bottle came out. The primary issue was every request took an extended period of time while the restaurant was not very full for a Saturday night. I must say the oysters were terrific. We may have just had a less than optimal experience. I will give it another shot and focus on the seafood with more oysters to start.

We have frequented Range several times before and this time we were unimpressed. Specifically, the pizza was doughy, chewy and impossible to cut, there were no vegetarian options, and the 'somelier' basically forced an alternate wine selection on us when our first choice was unavailable. May not go back.

Went for brunch on a Sunday a,. The food we received was good but service snafus made the experience very unpleasant. We had a brand new waiter who, while well-intentioned, was overwhelmed figuring out how to input orders and other details. He would disappear for long periods of time. Halfway through the meal we had to have the manager intervene. Then another long wait for our desert (never came) and check (ultimately comped). A restaurant that thinks of itself as a top restaurant should never sic a brand new waiter on paying customers.

Probably the best restaurant I've ever been to - and I've been to a number of places in and around the Baltimore-DC Metro region. Range is staffed by people devoted to the spirit of Mid-Atlantic regional cuisine, and it shows: from the cheese board from all local Maryland farms (even the cheese on the salad is local!) to the seafood (not just Chesapeake oysters, but also rockfish! done RIGHT!) Food was all spectacular: the right blend of elegant and homey to make you feel like you had an upscale but satisfying meal. The bread basket was just right for two, with melt-in-your mouth cheddar biscuits and housemade spreads, and the entrees were generously sized - no two-bite portions here! The server was polite, charming, and attentive without constant hovering. It's a little pricey, but on par with what I'd expect for a restaurant of this quality, and you definitely get plenty of value for it - we ordered a little of everything off the menu (sides, apps, entree, dessert) and the final bill was extremely reasonable for what we got. I've paid more for less quality food at upscale chain restaurants. Will definitely be going back the next time I'm in DC!

Range was not good, not horrible, just not good. We went for brunch. The server did not know the answers to any of our questions, and after several questions, he admitted that he was there temporarily (which is fine, but I still think he should have known about the menu). Second, the food was not great. There was nothing, apart from the cheddar biscuits, that was any good. The "breakfast potatoes" were inedible, and it is truly hard to mess up potatoes. The menu did not specify that any of the brunch entrees came with any sides, so we ordered several bacon and breakfast potatoes sides. When our entrees came, they all came with breakfast potatoes! So not only were the potatoes not edible, but we now had 8 orders of them. Would have been nice to know... I don't think I will be going back to Range because there are so many other places to go where the food is good and the waiters know about the menu.

The food was pretty good however the portion sizes were small and expensive and the service was extremely slow like extremely extremely extremely slow. Also they charge per soda which we did not now and it takes them forever to bring you anything in our appetizers and food came out at the same time which is very frustrating.

We were traveling from the West Coast and excited to eat at one of Bryan Voltaggio’s restaurants. To say we were disappointed after this experience would be an understatement. Overall the food was very good, bordering on excellent, but the service and operation of the restaurant left a lot to be desired. For example when my wife asked how was their medium rare cooked the server responded with “good”instead of describing the color of the meat cooked to that level. Another example, the server had to come back to the table several times to clarify the wine we ordered. Also they didn’t give my wife a steak knife for her steak. We also felt very rushed by the fact he asked us if we wanted to order dessert and we weren’t even finished with our main course. There was just an odd vibe to the place as though they were about to go out of business. From the hostess at the front, to the manager and our server their was a complete lack of enthusiasm that made the night very uncomfortable. I didn’t want to believe the other negative reviews but unfortunately based on my experience they appear to be accurate.
