Range Steakhouse - Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino Resort Ratings and Reviews
We took a friend from Wisconsin to our favorite restraunt, The Range, at Ak-chin Casino. Our favorite waiter, Scott, took care of us during our dining experience. We love the variety of choices on the menu and have ordered the nightly special on occasion. On Friday night we enjoyed pre-dinner cocktails. I always get a lemon drop martini with no sugar on the rim. My husband enjoyed a rye Manhattan, while our friend had an old fashion. I chose an appetizer of seared scallops and a side of mac & cheese with crab topping. It was delicious and I ate every bite...including some of my friend's grilled asparagus; because she couldn't finish it all. Her choice was the Rangeburger, wedge salad and asparagus. My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad, steak and shrimp. He always has a glass of wine with his meal. The wine list has several to choose from. I had room for dessert ...so the raspberry chocolate lava cake was shared all around and my friend had a delicious cup of fresh brewed coffee. We often pay for our dinner with our Total Rewards Points and always feel like winners when we leave.
We ate here because of past experience and my daughter and Grandson was visiting and we told them how good the food was. Well, sorry we ever brought them here, I was embarrassed. Three of us order prime rib and my daughter order rare, and med rare on the rest, all came medium, I had my redone, but the waiter told us they don't make rare, he should of told us that when we order so we could of order something else. Bake potatoes were hard. Husband order the crab cakes, and which he didn't, took them home and I toss them.. Well, all I can say is WHAT HAPPEN RANGE??? Waiter could of had a better attitude on the order.
We have eaten at many Range Steakhouse's over the years----and we are still very happy with the food!! This one at Ak-Chin is currently under construction, so they are using the Agave Restaurant for the evening meals--they have done a pretty good job trying to make a plain dining room into something with a little more ambience!! A lot of work on their part to set up and tear down every day.
Was disappointing actually. We were there the previous Friday and everything was lovely...this week not so much.
The waiter was mediocre in my opinion.
I asked for something which he forgot to bring , it happens. The food was tasty though.
We did a repeat visit simply because the prior week was so good.
Food was beyond horrible, vastly under seasoned and over cooked. Gnocci was as unbelievably dense and inedible. One of the dishes could only be described as tasting as if it came out of a bag in the frozen food aisle. Ordered a drink with a specific liquor and they tried to pass of a different liquor as what was ordered. Example......If I order Crown Royal, don't give me Jack Daniels and tell me it's the same thing! I would never eat hear again and I would never recommend it to anyone.
Go here on occasion and have tried various items, this however was the best...blue bass ( had never hear of it ) and it was AWESOME!!
The clam chowder and crabcakes were yummy too.
Not much ambience currently since the original steakhouse is being redone and this is temporary housing but it was pleasant.
Had a nice visit to Maricopa, AZ and visited the Range Steakhouse with my good friend. I was delighted to experience the outstanding food and service. It met my expectation for a good steakhouse. I would have liked a larger bar area to have a cocktail while waiting to be seated and to have a cocktail after dinner.
the service was very attentive, the soup of the day was outstanding, the signature salad was phenomenal, and the steaks were prepared exactly to order. The atmosphere is outdated and dark but still clean and comfortable and I know they are moving into a new location in the casino in the next year so I'm sure it will be beautiful.
Overall we enjoyed an intimate dining experience. Out server Scott was extremely attentive, anticipating our every need. We tried the lucious shrimp cocktail as an app, and the shrimp were huge! I got a ribeye steak, cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the seafood special, which was delicious! We took dessert to go, amazingly rich chocolate cake! We will definitely return!
The meager portion $7 Caesar salad came out looking wet and flattened, with a full slice of rock hard toast on top, purporting to be the crouton. The lettuce was limp and tough chewing and the dressing flat making this the worst excuse for a Caesar salad I ever experienced. My 6 oz medium-rare filet mignon arrived looking underweight, slightly over cooked, and definitely not fork-cutting tender as I have often experienced at Harrah's NKC. I had asked for a peppercorn crust as offered in the Internet menu, but the meat came plain only minimally seasoned. As for ambiance, the room is very dark making the menu hard to read, with my view being floor slot machines through the darkened glass door/wall. Not exactly cozy; definitely not an experience to rave about.
We love the menu. The steaks melt in your mouth. The signature salad is our favorite. However, we do miss some of the items that have been removed from the menu: escargot, tiramisu, the different cheesecakes. Also $3.00 seems a bit high for a hot tea.
We did enjoy our meal and will definitely return.
They really worked on improving things since I was last there last year. The food quality is better, as is the service. We had 12oz Filet Mignon and cooked decently for Medium Rare. The table bread was soft and delicious. The house salad with pecans and special dressing was very good. Garlic mashed potatoes were delicious, just the right consistency. The prices were very reasonable. You can definitely tell that they worked on it, and it shows. I now think I would like to start going back there more often. It is a bit of a drive from Phoenix to Maricopa, but if you already in the area, it is definitely good.
Great Dinner, Friendly Staff. Celebrated Our 15th Year of Marriage, and Enjoyed the Meal.
Being Harrah's Players We Enjoy the Perks + When Available we Accumulate Enough Points on Total Rewards to Pay For Most Of Dinner Or Good Portion. WE were staying Harrah's for our anniversary and we had reservations at the Range Steakhouse. When I made the reservation I indicated that we were celebrating our anniversary. We were seated in a booth as I requested but during the dinner there was no acknowledgment our anniversary. My wife only wanted a shrimp cocktail and soup. The shrimp cocktail was 5 large shrimps and the souse was very good. The soup was a loaded potato and my wife said it was tasteless. I have the 6 oz filet and it was prepared medium rear with a baked potato which was good. The service slow event the restaurant was not busy. Hopefully the new restaurant with the addition will improve the offerings.
They seemed to be having a bad night overall. Waiter and staff, as always, extremely friendly.
Took quite a long time to get any service, even water. Then ordered, and got two of our orders wrong. Two of us had the onion soup. It was just warm, very little cheese. I've had it before and it has alway been much better. Brought our friends and I was kind of embarrassed. For the price, which is not outrageous, it should still be better flavour and all around tastier. The side selection is poor and never changes. I questioned the shrivelled up tomatoes and had it explains that it was the chef's special way of doing them and takes him quite a long time. My advice is - don't bother.
Still waiting for the carrot cake dessert that they used to have. Now that was worth every bite.
Prime Rib was excellent. I would have given the overall experience and food a 5 star, except for the fact that the fish (bass/butter fish) was overcooked. Flavor was good but it was dry. The prime rib on the other hand was cooked to perfection and was a very generous cut. Service was just a little slow at the end in trying to get the bill. I would recommend this restaurant however. I would go again.
Food and service is always good. I had the large filet that comes with a side and soup or salad which was a reasonable price. My boyfriend had the surf and turf with a 6 oz filet and a decent size lobster tail. Came with a side and soup or salad. While the food was good I felt the price was too high.
This restaurant had great food (only took off a star because we didn't love the dessert but the waiter offered us another option) and a great atmosphere. The staff was great - very helpful and food was ready and prepared correctly. A little pricey but again the food was very good so worth it. I would come back again for another date night.
