Randy's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
We went to Randy's Steakhouse for our 36th Wedding Anniversary. When we arrived, we were seated promptly, and our server greeted and was very nice. Then it went downhill after that. The server told us it was his 2nd day working at Randy's and that he was also helping with a party of 35 people that had reservations. We placed our order and it was a little slow getting out. I ordered a Ribeye, cooked medium along with a baked potato and asparagus. My Wife ordered at New York Strip, cooked medium. When the order arrived, I had an overcooked Ribeye, mashed potatoes and asparagus that was overcooked. I asked our server about the mashed potatoes and he told me it wad the kitchens fault. I then replied, that he should have checked our order before bringing it ouy. We were half was through our meal when the baked potato arrived. Randy, the owner, stopped by and I told him about the overcooked steak and asparagus and the mix up on the baked potato, and his reply was the same excuse about the party of 35 people had the employees working extra hard. I told him for a high end restaurant, and that he should have staffed for the large party so that the food and customer service would not suffer. Needless to say, we will not be back to Randy's. I paid $114.00 for a same meal that I could have has at Texas Roadhouse, and I like Texas Roadhouse.
Positives: The service was wonderful. Our waiter did a great job. He also allowed us to sample the turtle soup which we all liked. I appreciated the "extra customer service" in letting us try a dish with which we were not familiar. My husband thought the crawfish-stuffed filet was wonderful.
Negatives: I had the parmesan crusted tilapia. It was totally overcooked and had a hard ridge of black burnt crust down one entire side. It was so hard I could not cut it with my fork. I could only eat about 1/2 of the serving. Between the three of us, we ordered three different sides. Each was good, but not any better than any other side served in a more friendly-priced steakhouse. The décor of the place seems a bit tired, and the bathroom was not as fresh as it could have been. I noticed this because compared to my previous visits to Randy's (which was a few years ago), the overall appearance and atmosphere were not as welcoming.
Nice place, great environment, great customer service, but the cost of the food was extreme especially to pay almost 40$ for a steak that wasn’t at all anything special or mouth watering was disappointing I pay $17 for a steak at Texas Roadhouse and it is by far the best steak I’ve ever had and it’s always cooked to perfection.. but overall it was a nice one time visit
I really had high hopes but the food was just mediocre at best and it took 3 hours to get appetizers dinner and desert. While the waitress was extremely friendly and apologetic it can only go so far before you think what gives? High cost mediocre food takes too long
This most recent visit was a special dinner with a very lovely lady who enjoys a good steak and a fine wine. Randy's Steakhouse was her choice. This is not the most expensive place I've dined but it is by no means inexpensive. Not so much to save money, my date and I split a lovely ribeye steak and baked potato. Keep in my the portions are huge and our steak was 16 oz. It was cooked to near perfection and the huge baked potato was very good. The walnut & feta cheese salad was an excellent paring for the meal. Of course, no steak dinner is complete without a perfect cabernet.
Our date was on a Tuesday evening (1/2/18) and the restaurant was not crowded and very quiet, perfect for conversation with that someone special. Plus the fireplace was perfect for thawing out on a blistering cold evening. Our server was just the right amount of attentive (I was trying to win her heart over).
Our service and food overall were poor at best. Although he was nice, our waiter struggled all night from taking 3 trips to get our drinks, to the other waiter doing his job, to the food coming out cool, to the crab cakes that looked like the size of a tiny scallops with no sauce, and finally the filet and ribeye that just weren't up to par at all. The atmosphere was comatose like there as well. The other waiter who had multiple tables in our area worked his backside off. We could never get our waiter's attention which was frustrating. Spending New Year's Eve there was a terrible decision that I will never make again.
Service was great, very attentive but not overbearing. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and so tender. Overall great experience. We (as a couple) were seated near two larger groups who were quite noisy. Once they were both in there, it became a little difficult for us to carry on a conversation. It was NYE so obviously a busy night. It didn’t ruin the meal.. just enjoyed the quieter atmosphere before they arrived.
Amazing Anniversary dinner venue! The steak is the Best we have had. Period! Randy knows how to present a steak. The Bread Pudding is equally amazing. The charming country house setting is exceptional and the service second to none. Ask for Mark to be your server and you will be glad you did. Expect to see Randy personally visit your table. Just moved to this community and will make this our Go-To Steakhouse and Special Occasion Restaurant. The meal is a great value and we look forward to nicer weather to enjoy the beautiful outdoor garden.
Had a great time. We are from North Carolina and were visiting family here. It was our anniversary and wanted to celebrate in a local restaurant, heard Randy’s was good. We had a great dinner, met Randy, and he celebrated with us and a bottle of their wine, mad us feel very special. Great food, great time, definitely plan to dining there again on our next visit! Thank you Randy.
For an upscale steakhouse we found it very expensive, the food was ok, the wedge salad was not good at all. we have eaten at Bobs< steve Fields, Three forks and would go back there in a heartbeat. We won''t be back to eat at Randys. for the price you pay for your steaks and everything is A LA Carte it was expensive.
The absolute worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The owner Randy literally got in my face, after we waited over 2 hours, because I was complaining and told me “I don’t give a f*ck” and didn’t take care of anything. Don’t waste your time.
We enjoyed a lovely and delicious meal in the classic, historical home all while dining on many of the menu's extensive offerings: Delicious steaks, salmon, parmesan encrusted tilapia, crab cakes, salads with home made dressings, cheese & spinach stuffed mushrooms, calamari and the wonderful warm bread. Our out of town guests, in for the Christmas Holiday, were extremely impressed.
We moved to Frisco three years ago and received a discount coupon to Randy's Steakhouse in a welcome package. We looked at Open Table reviews and decided we wanted to try the restaurant, but just never got around to doing so. A few days ago, we asked my bother and listen-in-law if they'd like to join us for dinner at Randy's. We used Open Table to make the reservation. My brother and I ordered the bone-in ribeye; my sister-in-law ordered the filet; and, my spouse ordered the New York strip. Our server recommended the creamed spinach. Additionally, we selected the scalloped potatoes and the southwestern corn. Steaks were cooked perfectly to our request and flavors were outstanding. The sides were "out of the world" exceptional. Service was incredible. Randy even stopped by to ask about our meal experience ... a very nice touch. We'll be back.
I have been to randy's four times. Each time the food has been excellent and portions large. The special attention to detail has been Randy's personal visit to the table after the meal. That dedication to customer show also in the meal that is set before you. 5 stars are earned.
From the time of arrival we were pampered. Our server, Landon, took the best care of us. His suggestions were spot on. The apps, steak, side and desserts really could not have been better in taste, preparation and presentation. I strongly recommend you check Randy's out. We will be going back
Our waitress was super. She even helped us the weekly menu which is a little less expensive but just as wonderful. We were celebrating our anniversary. They helped make it really special.. The owner comes over and talks with you. They constantly check to make sure you have everything you need and you're satisfied. The food is wonderful. Your coffee cup will never be empty . We wish we could eat there all the time.
