Disappointing. This was the second time we have been here. The first time was great. This time the food was gross, steak was over cooked and the meat tough. The crab cakes fishy (like the crab had turned). Service was slow. Gin and tonic and Vodka soda was flat. And when we got the bill - overpriced. We would have paid the same at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle.
Went here for an anniversary dinner and was pleasantly surprised with the good food and polite staff.
The food was good but they gave you WAY too much! The decor is VERY dated.
Enjoyed the excellent meal and dining experience. Friendly staff and unique setting in Frisco.
We were there to celebrate our anniversary. We were met with a smile on the hostess's face. The waiter was extremely attentive, as well as the other servers. We never had to ask for refills in drinks or anything else. The special for the day was told to us, which I elected to have and it was scrumptious. I never had fried spinach before, which was served with my special dish, and really enjoyed it. We were asked if we had room for dessert and I said definitely. I always get the chocolate mousse that only Randy's accomplishes to make devilishly delicious. We were told that since it was our anniversary that the dessert on the house. If that wasn't enough, the waiter brought over a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. The label said "Happy Anniversary and Cheers! Randy's Steakhouse". Our anniversary night was surprisingly more wonderful than we thought it could have been because of Randy's Steakhouse.
Wonderful evening. Betsy was friendly and super serving us. The food was outstanding.
A little pricy but I feel I got good value with the meal and the service. Randy himself came out to geeet us, and to make sure the meal was acceptable. I would go back again, on a special day in our lives. 4.5 / 5.
Great special occasion meal! Tip: if you go for your birthday you get a free bottle of wine! Steak cooked to perfection! Drinks were on point. And the chocolate cake was awesome!
Everyone had a great time. But, for the person picking up the tab, way over priced. If you’re well to do and don’t mind dropping $450 for a birthday dinner... go for it! Next time, we’ll do it at home. Certain we’ll have a better dinner as well as better wine/drinks for the price and spend half as much with extra to purchase a treasured gift. I would not recommend.
We got there right at 7 for our reservation and still had to wait 25 minutes more which put the evening off to a disappointing start. Things got a bit better — lemon drop martini from the bar was superb. Filets we ordered for the main course were not the best quality and were way under seasoned. Loved our waitress and she could tell we were disappointed with the whole experience but she asked if we were there for a special occasion (she was sweet to do that because the reservation people should have told her it was our anniversary since they asked me what special occasion it was when they confirmed our reservation the evening before). The waitress then brought us a complimentary dessert and a bottle of wine to take home. But we won’t be back unless their food (filet) quality improves.
We were looking forward to trying this restaurant based on reviews it sounded great. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. My wfe had the filet and I had the ribeye. Mine was overcooked and had very little flavor. We also ordered the creme brulee which wasn't completely set.The service is very good from the time we arrived to when we completed our meal. The hostesses were freindly and helpful the server was knowledgeable and spent time answering all of our questions. I wish the food was as good as the service.
With there being so many high end steak houses in Frisco, it’s hard to say if I would ever go back to this restaurant. The restaurant caters to an older crowd but the service is excellent. There was not a lot of flavor to the meat, but it was cooked exactly like I asked in terms of temperature. There was not a lot of negatives about this restaurant, but for the price, I would have rather went to Del Friscos. This only real disappointment was the bread. It was a sesame seed hamburger bun that was very dry. The butter that came with it was very good though, it could have probably went on the steak to add some flavor to it. Overall, I wasn’t disappointed with the place, I just think there is better options at that price point.
Great experience! I think our waitress’s name was Betsy I think. She was fantastic!
The food was too spicy for my taste. Presentation was lovely. Service was great and food came fast. The steak was quality and well prepared, but to pay another $8-9 for each side was exorbitant. Not worth it.
This is our second time here; we dined here in 2016 for restaurant week and decided to come here again. Service was amazing and the food was as great as we remembered. We will be back again!
Overall good experience. Was disappointed in the creme brûlée. Had to send it back because it wasn’t set up...soupy. The waitress said she had noticed that the night before and almost said something when we ordered it...well, she should have said something. Otherwise great service!
The beef tournedos and potatoes au gratin were good and cooked according to taste. The infamous bread pudding was disappointing. The lemon drop cocktail I ordered was superb. The restaurant has a unique ambiance and was a nice getaway for dinner.
Great food, great price, home style atmosphere
My wife's Salmon dish was very small. She was still hungry after we left.
I've been here twice and the steak is outstanding. One of the best steaks I've ever had. The service has been quite slow both times, and this time is was very cold (the room, not the food). There were a lot of people in quite casual attire, if that's your thing. I definitely recommend this place though, especially for steaks.
I was at Randy's on 8/31/18 with a friend. I would like to start off by saying that this restaurant is eloquent and beautiful within its historical walls. The sign out front tells the story of its historical journey while inside, food is being cooked to perfection, at least as far as I'm concerned. The rooms take me back to an earlier error, I would like to say Victorian, but I'm not an expert. This establishment is not like the factory type settings of other steak houses that I've researched. I was greeted kindly by the staff, and all of my needs were quickly met throughout the dinner. I wish I could remember the name of our hostess so that I could commend her attentiveness to detail. I was a vacationer from NJ, but I give my best review for the service and quality that this restaurant has given me. BTW, I had the 28 oz Bone In Ribeye, and it was delicious.
I had heard a lot of good things about Randy's but had never given it a try, figured Restaurant week would be a good option. The salad to start was excellent, as was the fresh bread, still hot from the oven. We ordered the mac and cheese as our side and it too was very good, but the steak was average. We regularly dine at Silver Fox, Perry's, and other steak houses in the area and for about the same money their steaks are quite a bit better than what I had at Randy's. I have nothing against the place, the staff was excellent and we liked the setting in an old house, but when steaks make up a large portion of the menu they need to be on par with other high end places in the area.
Great food. Decor needs to be updated
It took us 2 hours to complete our meal and that was with us requesting dessert and check to be brought out with our dinner; it took 50 minutes to receive our salads. We never got refills on water nor the second beer we requested. No apologies or reason given for the slow speed.
Arrived early to have a drink. The bartender acted like we where a bother. She was busy and did not have help. Took about 10 minutes just to get the wine list.
We ordered an appetizer and never got. We did not get charged but no apology offered.
Dining room was noise.
Too many other good steak places in DFW to spend that much money on this place.
This is our second time to visit Randy’s, and thoroughly enjoyed it again! Food is excellent! I had the 12oz Ribeye and it was delicious! Perfectly cooked! My wife got the blackberry filet (both times) and loved it! I also recommend the Panko crusted Brie and roasted garlic as an appetizer, also the crepe brûlée! The only negative thing I can say was that the room we were in was very noisy! The building itself is an older converted home so the rooms and hallways have a lot of wood so it echos and can get very loud! But there were also some loud patrons as well that night! Other than that we’ll definitely go back!!
Great server, Patricia, gave good suggestions. We loved all she suggested. Great pork chop! Great ribeye! We will be back.
Service and food was outstanding! Our first time at Randy’s and we were celebrating our anniversary. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Will be coming back again soon!
We had a wonderful dinner. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding.
Sides dishes were awesome. 8 oz Rib Eye steak was charred on the outside and to pink on inside. I think if you order it butterflied, that will resolve the overdone on outside and underdone on inside. Service was paced for a relaxing, enjoy your dining partners company during the meal. Love the old style home interior decor.
I go to Randy's Steakhouse every year during Dallas Restaurant week. It is a great place to have my once-a-year steak and for a very affordable price. It is too pricy for me to go any other time of the year, so I save it all for this one night. These steaks, sides, and desserts are great! Many options on steak, tons of sides, and out-of-this world desserts. Located in downtown Frisco on Main Street. Well worth it!
Would have been five stars all the way around but we had a three hour dinner due to slow service and slow meal preparation.
Honestly, we had a pretty horrible dinner. Every round of drinks we ordered took about 15 minutes to reach the table. My husband ordered a martini, and we reminded our waitress we were still waiting for it( we can see it at the well from our table). She brings it back, and there are two flies in it. She scoops the large fly out with my husbands butter knife.. He then scooped the other out himself. Or food came way later. Our plates were hot and our food was cold. We ordered wine to go with our steaks, they came after we were done eating. I left feeling like I just wasted $200.
Slow kitchen. Food good but not memorable. Dated decor. Service was decent, but had to apologize several times for kitchen delays. And this was on a Tuesday night - early! My wife had filet with crabmeat. Crab was dry. So was my huge pork chop. The whiskey/peach sauce on the pork was very good. Sides were “okay.” Dessert was nothing special. I think there are much better values for an upscale steak house
The first surprise was the happy anniversary greeting on the floor placard sign - a nice personal touch. The bar area was great for a glass of wine before dinner (it was Happy Hour, too!). The food and service were fantastic. And they even sent us home with a bottle of wine as an anniversary gift! Definitely worth a return visit!
The food was bland and the presentation was lackluster. I was surprised because Eater magazine has this restaurant at the top of their list of best steakhouses in Dallas. Never going back and I recommend everyone else stay away.
Ordered mudbugs with my crawfish filet. Did not comeout till I was done with my filet. I did not eat them yet was charged for them. My fiance had bread pudding and it had such a strong alcohol taste she could not eat it. We had taken the desserts to go so once again paid and did not get to eat it. Everything else was great.
Food was great... large portions, I almost wish we had shared. I got the pork chop, which was HUGE... actually very difficult to eat. I only ended up eating a few bites... and taking the rest home. If out for business or need to impress, don't get the porkchop. Service was amazing.
As always Randy's was a great choice for dinner, but especially this one... our 40th anniversary. The food and service were excellent. It made for a great, memorable evening.
p.s.- You have to try the Bourbon Glazed Pork Chop!!
