Niko our server was great. He knew the menu and offered his take on the things he liked and what others liked there as well. The cabernet was very nice but the food was average at best. I was really disappointed because I expected much better food. Specifically, my wife got a small filet mignon and is was very tough and burnt. She ordered it to be cooked medium and it was as tough as a sirloin strip with grissle. We both enjoy a good filet on very regular occasions and usually judge a restaurant by this item on the menu. That's what tells us we need to come back or "no way jose". I tried the pork chop and was not impressed. It was more like a roast and hard to manage but was cooked ok and I would probably not order it again. I am not a pork chop expert but again I was not impressed. In all fairness my wife really liked the place but didn't want to say anything because it was our 24th Anniversary. For my money I will put up with a louder crowd for better food at Capital Grille or Bob's Steak and Chop House. Sorry but I couldn't recommend Randy's to anyone I know.
Dined at Randy's for my second time on 3/17. Went for my son's 17th birthday and noted it on the request. Waitress was surprised when son #2 mentioned it during the meal. Waitress was not trained on opening the bottle of wine and it took her quite a while to both bring the bottle and then open it. I ordered surf and turf and my butter came 10+ mins after my order... Lobster was already cold. My date ordered her steak M-Rare. It came raw. My grandfather was a butcher. We've eaten beef since birth. I know beef. M Rare is not Raw! Took 7 mins to bring her steak back. They reheated it and it looked terrible. Could have cooked a new one in 10 mins and not reheated hers. Was told kitchen was busy (excuse). Was also told Randy was on vacation. Maybe that should have stayed a secret. Maybe Randy shouldn't take a vacation and leave cooking to the inexperienced and the service without leadership. We received our sides 5-7 mins after our mains were delivered. It took multiple requests to package up our food to go. Also, ordered 2 Plates of their "special" Key lime pie and was told they were all sold out due to one large party ordering it in another room. We were told they were out of Crème brûlée when we arrived. A restaurant should be better prepared to address their clientele's needs on most nights.
This was my second trip to Randy's in a few years and my last. Very poor experience for $400+ Birthday dinner. Would gladly give my money to another restaurant who wanted me to come back again and again by showing me they offer value for my money.
The food and atmosphere was excellent. I love steak, but I have never has a steak as tender and tasty as the crawfish stuffed filet. Words can't describe the fabulous bread pudding. YUM!
We always enjoy Randy's! We have been customers for several years and have never had a bad meal or dining experience. The staff is friendly and ensures that your service is the best. Randy will frequently come by your table to see if you are pleased with your meal - a real plus. The steaks are wonderful and cooked exactly as you request. We love the appetizers, especially the Brie and fantastic onion rings. This last visit was for my birthday, and Randy's always makes celebrating fun, and makes you feel special! Also, save room for dessert - they are great - love the chocolate mousse!
Great little place and good food. I’ve had better steaks however this place was very good. They have more options of steak styles which I loved. I won’t get the bone in ribeye here again. I’ll go for a filet or stuffed filet. Better value on those for sure! Will be back!!
The food was delicious, but the dessert was incredible!
This was our first time at Randy's and it was amazing, We had an absolutely fantastic first experience! The Staff are well trained, knowledgeable, and fun to be around. The Main Dishes are outstanding, Dessert was amazing, the sides were delicious, and the overall expierence is unrivaled amongst other steakhouses in the area.
Yes the atmosphere isnt as high class as Perry's or Flemming's, however I would rather enjoy tasting an amazing dinner than look at a wall mounted glass fireplace!
Party of five and we all ordered steaks. They were all cooked as requested. We had a small difficulty with the delivery time of the wine - maybe a new server? Served our salads before we even got our wine. However, one of Randy's staff noticed this and quickly made it right by giving us the bottle free. We were seated in a small room with only one other party of two in that room, so it was very easy for us all to talk and hear! Even with all the other wonderful steak places in Frisco, we always find ourselves back at Randy's a couple of times a year.
Food was good. Love the historic charm of the Restaurant. Good place to celebrate an event big or small.
My first time at Randy's. It was great. Food was outstanding. Beautiful rooms. Hoping to return soon.
A friend from Hawaii was back visiting and we were lured by the 1/2 price filet mignon, but ended up ordering from the fixed price menu. The house salad was fresh along with the asparagus with slivered almonds. The Lyonnaise potatoes are always a tasty choice and the filet was cooked perfectly at medium rare. We shared our bread pudding and chocolate mousse, which were delicious. Due to the promotion, the staff were very busy and our dinner ended up taking 2+ hours, so we got up to get our own pepper. Friendly wait staff and bartender were trying to do the best they could. We'll still return though as it's one of our favorite spots.
We would go to Randy's on a regular basis. We hadn't been for a few months as we have been trying a number of new restaurants that have opened in Frisco. We went back and enjoyed Happy Hour with Ana in the great bar area and had a great meal in one of several dining room in this histroic building in Frisco. We had a great value as the 12 ounce Filet and the parmesan crusted tilapia were both 50% off. We plan to resume visiting Randy's on a regular basis.
From the great food to the fantastic service, it was a overall great experience! That was our first time going to Randy's and we will come back. Even Randy himself came out to check on us and see how we were doing. He personally thanked us for coming in and made sure that we were taken care off.
The food and service was great. The homemade butter is delicious! My husband took me there for my birthday dinner and we had a great time. It would be great if they would consider having live piano player. It would right in the setting 😉
The lobster was out of this world, good! The steak had a creative blackberry sauce. You'll have to try the button mushrooms were delicious in a red wine butter sauce. The signature bread pudding was awesome with a cinnamon ice cream. I think the seating in the bar with the higher ceilings might be a bit more enjoyable then the dinning room on the left from entrance. All in all the service was great and Randy came to our table to say hello amd check on the quality of things. I would recommend this for a date night with that special someone.
Waitress Karen was delightful. Ambiance was inviting. Food was delightful.
The food was ok but not what it should be for a high class steak house. We ordered an appetizer but never got it. The waiter was not at all on top of his game.
Staff are always friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Usually reserve visiting the restaurant for special occasions. Easy to make reservations. Never disappoints.
Pros: The food was excellent! My New York Strip and my date's filet were both outstanding cuts of meat. The table service was wonderful! Our server, Karyn, took great care of us and her recommendation of the Turtle Soup was spot on.
Cons: We made a reservation for 7:45 and did not get seated until 8:10. I did not feel that a 25 minute wait was an appropriate wait time when I had made a reservation. I was glad they had a lounge/bar area for us to wait in, but it was frustrating nonetheless. Also, I know this is hard to avoid sometimes, but we were seated in the table closest to the kitchen which made me feel like I had to yell to have a conversation with my date.
Our Valentines dinner at Randy's was not meant to be; we had tried it 9 years ago, food was ok...but they ran out of potatoes(REALLY!) On Saturday, Feb 17, 2018 We arrived 45 minutes prior to our 7PM reservation, checked in (with a young woman who did not utter a word or crack a smile till she couldn't find my name..then it was oh...there you are) and went to be bar for pre-dinner cocktails. The bartender was less than cordial, but we made the best of it and spent 30 minutes talking. Went to the hostess expecting to be seated. She did not smile only told us we would have to wait till tables were'bussed'. There were other couples coming in and checking in for there 7 PM reservations and they were seated fairly quickly. We wait and finally another young woman took us upstairs to a brightly lite, bare, dingy dining room. No candles, no flowers, nothing. We sat and looked at each other got up and went downstairs to ask for a more suitable table She then told us we would have to wait for a better table. At that point, we decided to leave. I could have handled the lack of décor, music or atmosphere, but it was total disregard of a paying customer . We read the reviews and there are many complaints about the service. This place is total devoid of charm or personality, and the staff obviously has never had any type of customer service training. Randy's has a long way to go to be "Frisco" style ready.
The food was amazing! Steaks were cooked just right and super generous portions!
We were seated next to a table where one small child was banging his plate and the other small girl with them was throwing toys and running around the table. Not the best atmosphere for date night but ok.
We had a wonderful dinner. Great food. Great venue.
Steak melted in your mouth. Service was good, waitress was friendly and food served hot.
The steak was really good. The restaurant is in an old house that's pretty cool.
First of all the parking lot is way too small. We had to park two blocks away. As you go in you feel as if you’re in someone’s house. The greeters treat you like you’re at some cafe. As we sat there awhile before we got even water and bread. Our waitress was very green. You could tell it was close to her first day of being a waiter. We spent close to 200 bills there, and the food was not good. We had steak and lobster tail, and the lobster tail was way over cooked. The whole experience was just not what I expected from a place that charged these prices. They need to cut prices in half and start serving breakfast and call it Randy’s Cafe!
Service was great, food was good. Prices were a bit much- especially since everything is a la cart.
Early Valentine's Day celebration. Great, as usual. A pleasant, relaxing, romantic dinner.
Great food and great ambience. Randy’s is the perfect date place!
We have dined at Randy's many times, and treated some out of town guests to dinner there on a recent Sunday evening. The restaurant was lively, but not at all crowded, so quiet conversation was no problem at all, and we enjoyed that.
The service was awesome as usual. Great wine list - we had a very nice California red Zinfandel.
The salads are very good, and two of us had the (mock) Turtle Soup. Pretty spicy, but not hot. An interesting take on Turtle soup that got mixed reviews among us. I recommend trying it; you may really like it.
The steak entrees (our party of 5 had two different filet styles and a rib eye among us). Cooked perfectly, melt in your mouth tender. Every one was a hit. Two sides to share were perfectly sized for our party of five.
We had two birthday guests on this trip, and they were treated to complimentary deserts. A nice touch. I heartily recommend "Randy's Coffee."
Loved the setting which was part of the initial draw but the service and the food were first rate fabulous experience. Don’t overlook the appetizers !!!!
My wife and I went to Randy’s to celebrate our 17-year wedding anniversary. The evening started out nice. We were seated right away and we got a wonderful table by the fireplace. Randy come out and greeted us, so things were moving along nicely. The waitress started out pretty attentive but THREE hours later we were frustrated. The food took almost 2 hours to come out and we had to ask for the check twice. The food was good, but next time we want to buy a nice steak dinner, we will go somewhere where the service is worthy of the price tag.
We eat at Randy's a few times per year. Always great food and great service. This time my wife an I went, and she ordered a steak and I have the surf & turf. The surf & turf was enough for both of us. Next time we will split it. The Au Gratin Potatoes are the best as well. Overall, a wonderful place with a really nice ambiance.
My husband and I had a wonderful date night out. Our meal was excellent. The surf and turf cooked to perfection! Our waiter recommended a red wine that was awesome. We will definitely come back.
We celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and delicious food! Kimber made certain our evening was delightful!
Booked for a business meal, had to change reservation time at the last minute, not a problem. Food was amazing as always. Service was wonderful. Highly recommend!
Excellent food with great service with a personal touch from Randy himself.
Visited with my boyfriend the other night for his birthday, and we had an absolute blast. We will definitely be coming back soon!
Great service from Brianna! Enjoyed a leisurely dinner, courses were not rushed to our table. Everything tasted fantastic.
Very cozy steakhouse. Food and atmosphere were great. I took my 5 year old here and she loved the steak.
