Amazing food! Will be returning.
Apart from the starters failing to turn up, all was ok. Food good!
Our server was the best that I have ever had at Randolph Tavern. Unlike our last time there, we were never rushed like they wanted to turn the table. We were there for my girlfriends birthday and we leisurely enjoyed our drinks before ordering. The meal was great. I was going for a good burger. But Grouper is one of my favorite kinds of fish and it was the special of the day. So glad I got it.
Great surprise neighborhood find. Enjoyed the atmosphere, food and good service.
It was just right for dinner just before the theater.
Great place to go before or after the theater.
The waiter was wonderful and the food delicious. It’s just very crowded and very noisy. Tables are very close together I would definitely go again.
Great Appetizers and was perfect for a quick dinner before the theater (hop, skip & jump from the Cadillac Theater). Food was tasty and served hot. Service, in our opinion, was above average. Waiter was friendly, attentive and did not feel rushed
Reservation made in open table.....no wait....delicious food.....easy access to theater across the street!
Certain entries were a good value but the poke salad was not filling enough...my colleagues felt I was short changed for the money.
We had a late reservation around 1245 so restaurant was pretty quiet. After about 10 minutes we still had not been approached our waiter so we asked a bus person to find our waiter and send him over. Didn't acknowledge the wait, asked for our drink orders, took those, came back and took our food order and didn't see him again until we had to find him to ask for our check. Ordered a cup of soup and an entree salad, it took way too long and then they brought them both at the same time instead of the soup first. Again, never saw our waiter, it was all done by the expediter. I won't be back. Food is fine, about the same as other places, but the service made this a bad experience.
Great space, good menu, convenient and lively. Have been there a couple of times now. Once for dinner and then for business lunch. Service first time was great. For business lunch however we felt slightly rushed by waiter. Hovered over us while reviewing menu then once we were done with our entrees he bought the bill, without asking if we wanted dessert or anything else? A little odd....
Received a call early Sunday asking if i intended to keep reservation because they wanted to close early that day. I indicated they had accepted a 5:00 p reservation from me and was confused about their closing early. Caller stumbled around then said, well come on we'll honor it. when i arrived they wanted to know how soon my son could join me...5:30 pm. They locked the doors shortly after 5 and he had to knock to be admitted. They were pushing us out the door by 5:45. Will not return altho i liked the space and menu was good. Didn't like the feel of having a reservation and the restaurant wanting to close early for their convenience!
Good food, but server was not as friendly or attentive
Worst Bloody Mary I have ever had. My dad agreed. Whatever they use in their house mix leaves a terrible taste in your mouth. Dry brisket and only one bbq sauce option that has a different taste.
On a positive note the kale and brussel sprout salad and sweet potato fries were very good. At most, I would consider this for a quick meal before a play but it did not leave a lasting impression.
Our server was attentive. Good beer selection. 3 of us ordered the fish and chips and one order the crispy shrimp tacos. Both food choices tasted good. There were 3 shrimp tacos of normal size and included a cup of beans and rice. However the portion size for the fish and chips was not worth the $17 price tag to me. Maybe the $17 price was because of the type of fish - hake. It came out with 3 strips of fish sitting on a bed of french fries. Each fish strip looked like the size of a mozzarella stick. In the basket it looked like there were more fries than fish. It should have been called chips and fish on the menu. I would go back but not order the fish and chips.
Great location for the Cadillac theater The food we had was okay. If we go again I would stick keep the order to simpler fare, hamburger probably. It’s not that it was bad. Just not great. Be prepared for loud though.
Wild and wooly with the noise and people coming and going. Seems as if it is a Friday after work quick get together for a drink.
I'm glad we had a reservation. This place was hopping. The food was just okay and rather pricey. I had a half of a Caesar salad and a cup of soup. My husband a beef brisket with tater tots. We each had two drinks and our bill was almost $100. The noise level was very high and we had to speak very loudly to each other. The service was amazing. Our food was at our table in less than five minutes. If I went there again, I would get a burger. They looked awesome. It was a convenient location across from the Cadillac palace theater, where we went to a show after the dinner.
We went there before a show at the Caddilac Palace Theater. It is right down the block. Got in quickly and served in a reasonable time. Food was great and prices not bad for the loop in Chicago
Great food! Loved the enchiladas!
I've been the Randolph Tavern several times for lunch, this was my first visit for dinner. When I checked in for my reservation was told I would have to wait to be seated till the whole party was available, pretty standard and could wait in the bar. The bar area was packed and the dining area pretty close to empty. So I waited in the drafty overcrowded entry. If I had been seated, I would have ordered a drink and completely understood if the waiter ignored me till the rest of my party arrived. Once seated everything was fine, till the food arrived I had a pulled pork sandwich that arrived on a greased soaked bun, with french fries that looked like they had been under a heat lamp for hours. If my party had not been trying to make a curtain time at the Cadillac Palace, I would have returned my order. If you like elbowing your way to the bar because you can't be seated in and empty dining area and then getting soggy food do stop by for dinner.
Thought the food was very good and the lunch specials were delightful
The food was great and fast. The atmosphere is fun and allows you to chat with other tables if you want. The service left something to be desired. Our drinks were delivered after our food arrived to the table, the server only stopped by to check on us once, and he didn't offer us dessert, but rather handed us our check. The tables along the window are not well positioned and if you sit in the aisle, you will be cramped. Recommend sitting at the bar if you cannot get a table in the center of the floor.
What a disappointment. Having been here 2 times before I remembered good food and an ample beer list. This time, we were there for after work drinks so there was no food to buoy the experience. The draft list was very short, and some of the beers listed were actually not available. All of the drinks were quite overpriced-- like what you would pay at a hotel, rather than what you would pay at other bars in the neighborhood.
Crap service, serves RC Cola (gross!), server was absent.
Chicken sandwich very good. Fries only ok. Service ok...but nice atmosphere and reasonable prices
If I am being completely honest, I wanted to like this place a lot more than I did. There was nothing really wrong with it, but it wasn't the best experience ever either. The food was good. We had the bourbon meatball appetizer which was to die for! I had the shrimp tacos which were okay. We wanted to get dessert, but our service was very slow and we had to make it to a show. My biggest critic would be the service. Our server would stop by and then we would not see him again for a very long time. The place was not packed, so I am not sure why that happened. With better service, I think the overall experience would have been better.
Good casual choice if you’re going to the theater and need a spot that’s walking distance.
Very disappointing. Atmosphere is inviting but that’s the only thing. The fried okra was good too. Server, who was apparently new, misordeded an entree and a cocktail from our group. Cocktails small for the price you pay. Small glass and big square of ice.
The food was NOT good. $9 for chips and a one once serving of guac, salsa and cold cheese? What a rip off. The veggie burger was not good. Too bad...this place was good several months ago, but seems to have really gone downhill. $50 / person for a ehhhh meal. Not worth it.
Great place for good food and refreshments prior to the theater. But be ready for a loud but happy atmosphere.
WE stop here frequently for our pre-theater dinner before going to the Cadillac Theater. It is s perfect location. Park next door - eat - walk 1 block to the theatre. This is especially good during the winter theater season. The food is always tasty and reasonable. Is you are looking for a quite place to dine, this is not it. There is always a lively after-work crowd that makes the noise level high but not offensive. I’ve never been there when it was “quiet” but the food and location make up for that.
Super BBQ brisket. The best I’ve had in quite a while. I recommend the brisket plate as it has a generous portion of meat.
We had a great time at the Tavern. The waitstaff was wonderful and the food excellent-especially dessert! The hostess at the front door made us feel welcome!
Food was good. Service was good. The location was perfect. We had a lovely meal before a play at the Palace. It was really noisy and the bench/booth I sat at with the pillows was somewhat odd since my neighbor had thrown her coat well into the shared space. Definitely book a reservation! A lot of people were waiting for tables and we were shown right in.
Very very noisy. Extremely small portion sizes. Food almost tasteless.
Great food, great ambiance and great service and location for Cadillac Theater
The restaurant was enjoyable .We went there for a nice lunch before going across the street to the Cadillac theater to see the matinee for beautiful. The food and atmosphere of the lunch experience was good .The service was extremely slow which was the bad part of lunch. We had to chase the waitress down in order to pay our bill.
Great place for a nice pre theater meal. Good food.
