Our poor server had to have been waiting on at least 12 tables at once. Saw him every 30 minutes and almost didn’t get a chance to order our food. Thank goodness it came out quickly or we wouldn’t have made our show. Drinks are a rip off as well, $13 for a small bit of alcohol in a tiny glass with a huge ice cube. Very disappointed with this experience. You’d think they would have been more staffed for a show right across the street...
If you are attending a show at The Cadillac Palace - this is the place to go before or after. It is across the street and near excellent parking. Wonderful service and wonderful food. I was surprised at how large the Tavern was, but you wouldn't know that until you explore the inside. We had a wonderful time talking with friends, the stuffed dates were my favorite!
Got right in everyone was friendly. Want to return to explore the food and drinks more
The food was very good, but the bread pudding's sauce tasted like alcohol. Moreover, the desert my husband ordered which was chocolate cake, while it was very good, was big enough for two. I wish our server would have mentioned this, otherwise we would only ordered one desert, instead. Overall, this was a very nice place.
Very loud and very poor service
We had a great business lunch here. A bit noisy but that's just fine. Good BBQ!
Always excellent. Perfect location, fun scene, plenty of selection for all palates and best service in the city. Randolph Tavern is my first choice when dining in the loop!
Reservations were limited, yet when we arrived, the place was empty. Took forever to be waited on and server was less than pleasant. Got trio dip of salsa, quest and guacamole, which were very small. Chicken and avocado taco left much to be desired. Chicken was not fresh and seemed to be pulled from a container of juice. And avocado was really just a side of the same guacamole. Only plus was they were generous with their wine pours.
Good variety of food. On tap selection was good. Lunch crowd was not terrible.
I am always impressed with how quickly the food comes.
The beer menu has not disappointed me yet.
Sat for 15 minutes before we were brought waters. Waiter did not come to take our order until we were sitting for 40 minutes - this was both our drink and food order. Messed up our drink orders when they were finally brought. Finally received our shared appetizer to have to ask for plates to be brought and then they forgot to bring them.
Once we complained to the manager the rest of our food was brought out within 5 minutes.
The manager did comp our drinks and half our food order - which was appreciated after such a horrific wait.
Service was slow, I think they forgot about our order. Also very noisy, hard to talk in there. Just so-so food.
I really liked this restaurant, food was good, reasonably priced. However, I've NEVER been to a restaurant that served Diet RC???? I didn't know RC still existed. Please get coke or pepsi - RC????
We wanted to have a good meal at a fun place before we attended a musical at the Cadillac Theater. This was the perfect choice. Staff was very accommodating, the food was excellent, service was great and prices were reasonable. It was just a fun place to have dinner and the perfect spot to visit either before or after going to the Cadillac Theater, because it's literally across the street!
Our Server (Robert) was excellent. Attentive, but not overbearing, good sense of humor and caring. We ordered four different lunches and all four were very good. I would recommend Randolph Tavern for any lunch, business or otherwise.
We had chicken wing appetizers and ceaser salad, nice size wings and we had buffalo flavor. The salad was just okay, had to much salad dressing on it, so I would recommend getting it on the side. Service was pretty good as she kept our drinks full. Great location across from the Cadillac theater, so very convenient for that.
Good food and service. Great location for pre-theatre meal.
Good food in a casual comfprtable setting. Close to the theater district for a pre-theater meal that was delicious and well priced
Great food and excellent service. It was definitely noisy but super convenient for the Cadillac Palace Theater.
Too loud. Very crowded. Loud music. Won't be going back. Not a good place if you're looking to have a nice dinner with friends. Okay for having drinks and loud conversations.
Lively, very busy during peak time 5 - 7 pm due to all the Broadway shows in the area. Too much dressing on the chicken salad, BBQ pork sandwich on pretzel roll and sweet potato fries were excellent. Hostess was very polite! Thanks.
we were 8. girls on our way to a play, and they sat us together at a nice round table in a cute little side room - we had so much fun! Our server was very attentive and quick and the food was awesome!! I am gluten free, and she was very kind in accommodating my special needs.
Bday for my adult daughter dinner and musical. Great night.
It was very noisy, which made it very hard to talk. then they put on music, which was loud, and everyone just talked louder to be heard over the music. But it did seem like a central place to meet after work.
My friend had the pulled pork sandwich which she liked very much. I had the pulled chicken which was very, very dry and would not recommend it at all.
Randolph Tavern is a nice casual place to get great food at a reasonable price. With so many restaurants in the loop focusing on either high end gourmet fare or fast food, finding a quick casual restaurant like Randolph Tavern was perfect for our large group.
The food was good and the service was great. We went there to watch a ballgame before a play. The location was perfect to eat before the play. Parking was right across the street. I would highly recommend.
We like the convenience of being close to the Cadillac theater. I had reservations but we were seated at a very small high-top table right by a table of 10 very loud people. We had no room to move and couldn't hear ourselves despite other table being available at the other end of the restaurant.
The location is excellent if going to the theater, we have used Randolph Tavern on several occasions in the past and have always been satisfied with our lunch before going to theater.
Our 3rd or 4th time there for pre-theatre drinks and dinner and once again outstanding in every respect. If there were 6 stars to give they’d get ‘em
It was very loud, couldn't have a conversation. My steak was overcooked and my boyfriend ordered short ribs and received a small amount of shredded beef over rice. Extremely disappointed. Dis not make a good impression of Chicago restaurants for my boyfriend's first time in Chicago.
Had a great experience... friendly staff, great service and good food!
The food was good and the service was fine. Wife had a burger and I had the pulled chicken sandwich.
Very good food and service was fantastic - friendly, professional, and very clean. Only negative - after 6:00 p.m. gets pretty loud. However, the back of the restaurant area was more quiet where you could have a more intimate conversation.
Amazing food! Will be returning.
Apart from the starters failing to turn up, all was ok. Food good!
Great place to go if you are going to see a show at the Cadillac. Timely seating with reservation which is a plus when going to a show. Food was very good but not great. Drinks were good but pricey for the size (I had a Mule). Very noisy but to be expected in this type of place. I would go to this place again if seeing a show and a good place to stop for a beer with a friend.
Our server was the best that I have ever had at Randolph Tavern. Unlike our last time there, we were never rushed like they wanted to turn the table. We were there for my girlfriends birthday and we leisurely enjoyed our drinks before ordering. The meal was great. I was going for a good burger. But Grouper is one of my favorite kinds of fish and it was the special of the day. So glad I got it.
Great surprise neighborhood find. Enjoyed the atmosphere, food and good service.
