Randolph Tavern Ratings and Reviews
My sister and I attended Beautiful in the afternoon and then crossed the street to Randolph Tavern for an early dinner. We were seated immediately, and at first were taken to a table near a rather loud party, but then were quickly taken to a quieter area near the window. We each ordered one of the taco offerings and enjoyed both of them. The chicken tacos were full of large bites of chicken that were not dry at all, and my sister enjoyed the flavoring on the pork tacos. Our food arrived very quickly, which worked out well for us since we were trying to catch a train and didn't have a lot of time. We also enjoyed the look of the tavern, particularly near the bar area. All in all, we thought this was a great choice for grabbing a bite to eat either before or after going to the theater.
As I'm sure many of the people there were waiting to see a play nearby, and I understand that a bar/tavern would't be a quiet place, but when you can't hear the person sitting next to you in conversation, some action should be taken. We're coming back to see a play in a couple weeks, but we'll have to go to a different place beforehand.
Wonderful experience. Dinner before Carol King Musical at Cadillac Palace. Very close to Theater was wonderful especially bitter cold night. We had great food with good service and was able to get to Theater in plenty of time. Nice polite friendly servers. We will definitely return. 👍👍
I was amazed at the large size of the restaurant and it was packed with people, mostly young people enjoying drinks. As a theater going diner, it was a bit over the top, but the food and service were good so I would go back next time I was in the area attending theater.
Decided to try Randolph Tavern prior to theatre performance. All was fine except one slice of the brisket of my brisket platter was clearly very old. My wife enjoyed her meal. I showed our waiter the issue with the brisket and he removed the entire meal from our bill. This is why food received a fair rating and service is rated outstanding.
We wanted to grab a quick bite after the theater. We had burgers which were tasteless. They put two skinny patties on a bun with cheddar cheese in between them. They were like hockey pucks. Waiter never asked us about our food after it came. Too bad!! Could be a great place!!
Went before the theater. Made a reservation and noted it was for a birthday. The hostess was very rude, and they never recognized me or the birthday. If fact she didn't speak except for "who is next?". Luckily the waiter was really nice and the food was good. It is a bit cramped and loud but it was nice for a lunch. I recommend the mushroom Swiss burger. It was delicious.
This restaurant was large (in a good way). We didn't realize how large as we sat towards the front door but found out when we went to the bathroom. Clean, modern bathrooms. Appreciated that when we arrived half hour early for our reservation we were able to be seated right away. Great restaurant to eat at before attending Cadillac Palace Theater. Burger, fries, side salad, and crispy brussel sprouts were delicious with a good beer.
First time visitors. Chose this place based on positive feedback. Stopped in after a Broadway show. Service was attentive, Food was delicious, especially loved the roasted veggies options (had the cauliflower and brussel sprouts). Laid back atmosphere, very cool!
The lobster roll and sweet potato fries were delicious, as was the Malbec; the “macho nachos” not so much—pretty bland and with too little cheese and no jalapeños that I could find. But, the location was great—super close to the Cadillac Palace theater. So, it was perfect for pre-theater dining on a frigid Chicago night!
Not impressed at all. The food was average as was the service. One entree of the tacos was ice cold. Thought it was a little forward for the server to add a 20% gratuity on a table of 4 adults and two children under the age of 10. We had to go get her when the tacos were cold, get up to get condiments from another table and I don't think she smiled once. We had drinks, apps, entrees, dessert and after dinner drinks. Not impressed with this restaurant.
We were very pleased with our service and the atmosphere. We enjoyed our food with only one exception. one of us ordered a chopped salad which was good but had chicken in it which was not ordered. We ordered cocktails which were average. Because of its close proximity to the Cadillac Palace Theater we will return and be more specific about our orders.
Had a great lunch - pulled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Service was great. However, the noise level was "very energetic". My occasion for being there, going to catch a matinee at the Cadillac Theater. The restaurant is a perfect location - right across the street from the theater!!
