Food was delicious and ingredients are fresh and locally sourced as much as possible. Desserts and gelato's are made in house. Chef even makes the brandy soaked cherries for the Manhattan's!
Rancho Pinot has been our favorite restaurant for years. The fact it has been around well over twenty years says something. The food is always great and the staff especially wait persons Fritz and Sabrina could not be more friendly and welcoming. They treat everyone like old friends. Chrysa, owner and chef, is a genius and incredibly hard working in the kitchen but always finds time to acknowledge her customers. If trendy is your thing this may not be the place for you. If outstanding food, service and nice ambiance is important I highly recommend
We dined here 15 years ago when we resided close by. We have since moved and now frequent restaurants in our neighborhood. However, recalling our long ago pleasant dining experience at Rancho Pinot, we decided to check it out once more. We were definitely not disappointed! The food, service and ambience were all top-notch. Because of its location, the restaurant can't be seen from the highway. I suspect that is why many folks don't know that this restaurant exists. That is a shame because this is one of those places that should be on everyone's "Top 10" list. We will definitely not let another 15 years go by before we return!
Can't say enough good things about Rancho Pinot . . each course of the dinner was outstanding. Service is perfect and we're made to feel like special guests. Look forward to many more delicious meals in the near future!
We hav elived here our entire lives and Rancho Pinot is our favorite resturant in all of Arizona. Excellent food and excellent western decor. From twenty years ago at Town & Country to now, the quaility of the food is the most consistent. If you want to impress someone, or you just want an excellent meal time after time, Rancho is the place.
All at the table enjoyed their meal. My grouper, thorough slightly over cooked, was still delicious.
We were surprised to learn this restaurant has been in the Valley for 22 years. How did we miss it? The fish was overcooked and so was the pork. Unfortunately, the food was not as good as described on the menu. Maybe our one experience was unusual but disappointing enough to keep us from returning.
An absolutely delightful dining experience: cloth tablecloths and napkins; generously spaced adjoining tables; very good service, delicious food. Rancho Pinot has been in Scottsdale for a long time. May it continue!
Everything we tried was great, the menu included a great selection for us to pick from. Loved the strawberry shortcake for dessert. Great ambiance
The food at Rancho Pinot was exceptional. One can taste the care in the selection of the ingredients and the skill of the chef. The four of us enjoyed very different entrees and each was exquisite. Quail, grouper, pork shoulder and gnocchi. The waiter was very helpful and efficient.
Love this place. Don't be deterred by it's strip mall location. Seafood salad is outstanding. Both chicken dishes enjoyed by my dining partners. I've had gnocchi here before and it is terrific also.
Lamb chops were tasty. Wine list is good and reasonable. Deserts - strawberry shortcake and chocolate cake, both excellent.
Our favorite Phx restaurant, Rancho Punot did it again. We have been exposing our 11 yr old grandson to dining instead of eating (burgers and fries!). He goes along with it but wishes he didn't have to. At Rancho Pinot the food was great and the wait staff treated him like an adult. He loved it! He wants to go back again... Great job Rancho Pinot!
We dined at Rancho Pinot at the recommendation of a good friend and had a good, very well prepared meal and lovely glass of wine. On first look, the location isn't very promising in a mall next to a drycleaner, but once inside it is a nice experience. The staff was knowledgable, friendly and attentive.
Rancho Pinot offers fresh inventively prepared foods in a very friendly setting. The menu reflects the chef/owner's early experience with Alice Watters at Chez Panisse in Berkeley. This restaurant offers some of the very best food in Scottsdale/Phoenix at reasonable prices from an unlikely location in a strip mall near a second hand clothing store. The decor is "Rancho" and the service is friendly and knowledgeable. We visited twice during our recent week-long stay in Scottsdale and we are already looking forward to returning. Don't miss this restaurant.
You can't see the restaurant from Scottsdale Road because it is back toward the back of the shopping center between two larger shops. It was worth looking for. The toasted homemade bread was delicious. The braised beef short ribs melted in you mouth, they were so tender. We loved the strawberry shortcake. We will definitely return on our next trip to spring training.
When we found this restaurant in a mall we didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised! The food is imaginatively and deliciously prepared. The wine list is impressive. The place was buzzing at 6 PM so reservations are necessary!
We've been here in the past. It just seems to be going thru the motions. Seems a little tired.
An all around great experience, from makeing the reservation through dessert. Food and servive top notch. A must visit in the Scottsdale area.
We had a little trouble finding this place but it was definitely worth it! Our server (Jillian?) was fantastic! We were made to feel like regulars, almost like family! Food was just excellent! My husband had Nonni's Chicken and I had the vegetable plate. Both were absolutely delicious! We will definitely return on our next visit to Scottsdale!!!
While it is difficult to find, in a shopping area behind another restaurant, and furnished in modern day cowboy memorabilia, the food is great and the selection good, even if not extensive. The service was informal but warm. The wine recommendation turned out to be accurate, even if the wine was expensive by the glass. The sauce was distinctive, not too spicey and not too salty or peppery. Desserts were unusual in part, and included local fruit. Not inexpensive but not unreasonable. Go for the food, not the decor.
We had guests from LA and The Bay Area in town. Rancho Pinot has always been our classic go to place for visitors and our friends concurred. Food is always fresh and wine selection is never just an afterthought.
Fantastic. Food was so fresh and delicious. We felt like the chef was there just for us. Best gnocchi ever! The salads tasted as if the ingredients were just picked. The asparagus with the egg on top? Unbelievable. Our server was perfect. Very knowledgable, funny. The ambiance was great. Music was low enough to have a quiet conversation but loud enough to identify. One of the best restaurants we've ever been to.
We have not eaten at Rancho Pinot in a while because we moved Friends suggested we try it and we're delighted we did All 4 of us ordered something different, duck lamb beef and chicken Everything was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious We shared a chocolate desert which was outstanding The wine and cocktails were also excellent We will definitely return
Have been coming here off/on for 10 years. Great menu and wine list, superb service and exquisite menu. Have never, ever been disappointed.
The minute you walk in the door you feel comfortable, welcomed and very much appreciated. The wait staff is outstanding from the minute they greet you until they say goodbye after a wonderful meal ( our waitress blew me a kiss as we left and another waiter handed me a piece of paper with the address and phone number of another restaurant we have wanted to try). Can't get much better than that but...
the short ribs were cooked to perfection and as always, created with a personal twist that keeps us coming back for more. The vegetarian plate has always been one of the best we have ever tasted and this last time did not disappoint: it remains one of my wife's favorites.
Anything chocolate here is wonderful and the chocolate hazelnut torte did not disappoint. The espresso creme brulee was wonderful as well.
We dine at Rancho Pino about once a month and this was the only restaurant my wife wanted to experience for Valentine's Day.
Always a treat.
We have eaten at many terrific restaurants while in the Phoenix area, but Rancho Pinto rises above them all. The gnocci with Bolognese sauce was tasty, had the texture of a fine meat stew and disappeared quickly. The desserts are home made and also outstanding. We had the banana bread pudding with bourbon sauce and vanilla ice cream and the meyer lemon tart. Both were outstanding. We liked Rancho so much that we are going back again!
This restaurant never fails to deliver very good food with very good service at very reasonable pricing. A real 'Stand By' place.
Year in and year out, Rancho Pinot is there to offer you a great meal with friendly, professional service. No gimmicks. Just well prepared, balanced meals that are delicious. Others come and go but Rancho Pinot has the formula to endure.
A friend recommended this place so we decided to go on our first night in Scottsdale. We are so glad we did. It was my wife & I and our 10-month old daughter. I wouldn't call this place "kid-friendly", but our well behaved baby did fine. We went early (5:30pm) on a Thursday and did get some looks from other patrons, but the staff were beyond welcoming of the baby.
The food...insanely good. Every single item was delicious. Some things were unique and not necessarily our normal style, but we enjoyed the amazing flavored.
We had two small plates: scallops on a bed of slaw (which were good) and asparagus wrapped in prosciutto topped with an egg (AMAZING!).
For dinner I had the gnocchi with lamb bolognese. Let me just say, the gnocchi melted in your mouth and I practically licked my plate to enjoy every last heavenly morsel of the bolognese. My wife had the fish special which she raced about as well. We also enjoyed a great bottle of Pinot Noir (the wine list is pretty good, but most notable was the selection of their namesake Pinot).
We had no room for dessert and baby was hitting the wall. So we called it a night.
I will come back and add our server's name later as she was the friendliest, sweetest, most personable server ever. She seemed like she was their every time we needed her, but we never felt like she was on top of us. Just perfect.
Overall, if you like great food and great service. Come here...you will be surprised how good it is for a little place in tucked away in a strip mall.
First time and very satisfied. try different restaurants on Open Table and never miss. reviews were dead on. will definitely go back.
great, but casual service. what appears to be a limited menu provides more than enough choice. preparation and presentation is simple but incredibly delicious.
I have eaten at Rancho Pinot many times but the Friday night before the Super Bowl was at the top. The restaurant was busy but able to seat me on time. My guest was delayed in getting to the table and the staff was attentive enough while I waited, bringing bread, wine list (very important) and checking in from every few minutes.
I ordered the wine (a bottle of Belle Glos 'Clark & Telephone Vineyard' pinot that punched above it's price point in taste and style) and enjoyed a glass while waiting for my guest. I never felt rushed by the staff even though we started dinner much later than our reservation time.
Once he arrived, we got specific recommendations on the menu based on our preferences. The food was outstanding (burrata salads, grilled flatiron steak, grilled swordfish) ... flavorful, fresh, served at the right temperature. And the service was at the right level of engaged without disrupting the flow of the conversation.
Rancho Pinot made the dinner a way to build a relationship with my guest.
I have dined in Rancho Pinot Grill many times. Always interesting as the menu changes with the seasons, truly fresh salads and vegetables, the specials are always intriguing, always a top recommendation to my friends.
This very comfortable, friendly restaurant has very good food. Salads were imaginative, thoughtful combinations of impeccably fresh ingredients. We especially liked the citrus and fennel salad. Fish was perfectly cooked although the sauces/garnishes were a bit bland to our taste. The lemon curd tart is outstanding and very flavorful. Service was professional and prompt, and prices are reasonable. The restaurant also has a very nice selection of wines. For once, a table for two was generously sized, and tables are not too close together. There was a gentle hum of audible conversation but we could not hear what neighboring patrons were saying. Rancho Pinot appears to attract a sedate, older crowd--no screaming twenty somethings pecking at their phones.
Had the best martini, chefs, Meyer lemon martini. Probably best martini ever. My husband had the grouper and I had braised chicken thighs excellent meal.
This was our first visit. The food was very good but the service slow and the decor worn and dated.
One word fabulous. The flat steak was tender and delicious. The ravioli with bison marvelous. The coconut toasted custard tart devine. Good service too. I recommend a nice port to finish the meal. Will definitely eat there again.
Two in two nights. After ten years concluding only L'Amore was a non-chain, excellent food, service, and ambience -- this was THE find. Scottsdale not on the top of my restaurant go-to's generally, but this one is good! Open room, no quiet corners or rooms for those who mysteriously prefer it, BUT still delivered enough private space so we felt not invaded by everyone. Will come back every year.
My husband and were in Scottsdale for a family event and had one night out for dinner for just the two of us. What a great place we found!! This was our first trip to Scottsdale and the Phoenix area and were treated so well! We can't say enough great things about the staff--they exemplify what great service is all about!! From the woman who seated us to our waiter (Fritz) and all the other staff who pitched in to make it an outstanding dining experience. Our meal was wonderful (we had the scallops and a duck breast special) but we know from past experiences at other places how tasty food can be overshadowed by poor service. We were so impressed by how the entire staff seemed to work together (and were having FUN!). There are lots of places to see and dine at in the Scottsdale area and we were so pleased we spent our Saturday night there!! Highly recommend Rancho Pinot!!
The food quality is amazing. The creativity of the combinations is some of the best anywhere. We do not travel a great deal, but when we do we eat at rated restaurants. Rancho's food is as good if not better than any where we go in the US or Mexico.
This is our favorite restaurant in Phoenix. Farm to table fresh food creatively prepared. Every course is incredible but if I had to pick one, the pastas are melt in your mouth delicious. Chef Chrysa Robinson is rated one of the top chefs in Arizona. It's a low-key, casual unpretentious ambiance. Wait staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Every note is struck beautifully to give one the ultimate dining experience for both special occasions and a casual meal.
