Rancho Capistrano Winery
The winery offers over 30 different house made wines created from grapes from some of the worlds finest wine growing regions.
The chicken vegetable soup was delicious!
When I asked the hostess about a catered event, she handed me a piece of ripped paper with a name and phone number of their event coordinator to call. No business card? Hmmmm?
Next time leave some for interested parties!
We ate on the patio before anyone else showed up. I had to ask to turn down the Country Western music. The table was under a heater so that was fine. The service could have been better given low occupancy while we were there, water refills, removing used dishes, ordering. My meal of the BLAT with tomato soup was good.
Great food and service ! Look forward to a return visit soon !
Our waitress Kyra was great!
10/10 all around. We love being members here!!!! atmosphere and people who work there are great!
Booked lunch after our Amtrak train was to arrive at the nearby train station. The patio was lovely, and had a large fireplace with a roaring fire. So inviting on a crisp day.
We've lived in the area a couple of years and always loved the vibe walking by so we had to try. Wine choices are excellent and the charcuterie board is one of the BEST around! Great place to unwind, drink wine by the huge fireplace and relax after a long week. Recommend fried Brussels Sprouts, Big Cheese plate Estate GSM & the Mexican coffee port!!
I took my husband here for a birthday lunch before heading to Dana Point for the night. The patio is beautiful and we really enjoyed the food and wine. Great service. Definitely will be making a trip to Rancho Capistrano Winery again.
We went for a Saturday day morning brunch. The food was fantastic. We had the french toast bites as an appetizer and mimosa flights as starters. The patio had a perfect ambiance. We are planning to go back to try the dinner menu.
Great atmosphere. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The lamb meatballs were delicious. Definitely heading back soon.
I went there for the 1st time with 4 friends this weekend. It was outstanding! We were there for Sunday Brunch and loved the experience. There was a great live band playing outside and the food was great. Our table had waffles, Eggs Benedict, soup and fries! I would go back in a heartbeat and look forward to my next trip there.
PS- it's right next to the San Juan Cap train station so it makes it ideal for meeting people from who might be traveling from San Diego or North Orange County
The food is consistently very good, attractively served. Good wait staff. Really nice atmosphere.
First visit to this restaurant with friends and was enjoyed by all! Lovely outdoor setting. I just wish they had a full bar.
Great location, perfect outdoor ambiance, delicious food and friendly staff
I found my new favorite Chardonnay!!! The Brussels sprouts app is to die for. I’ll definitely be coming back a lot!!
We have always enjoyed the restaurant. Sometimes we bring our dogs and they enjoy all the attention too.
Very fun night. Live music on a Thursday. Outside patio is perfect during the summer
always consistent!!! Great environment and awesome wine!
The food was very good but the wine was not and the wine was expensive!
We went there at Noon for Mother’s Day and were sat outside at a table for 2. It was partly cloudy, but when the clouds parted, it became very hot sitting in the sun. It was hard to eat my delicious Chicken Pesto Pasta in the hot sun. An umbrella would have been nice, or if we ate in the evening it would have been more comfortable. Service was decent not exceptional(possibly due to it being a busy Mother’s Day). We will go back, but won’t sit in the hot sun next time
We love Rancho Cap!! Food is always on point and so is the service.
Very good food. The salmon was outstanding. Will definitely return.
Easter with family on the patio
The pork chop cooked sous vide style is amazing and perfect to share!
We got sat outside, it was freezing, the girl was irritaed when I requested a heater she said they was all in use. I asked to sit inside which they did.
ordered appetizer which they forgot to bring, my pizza had some weird sauce on it, the wine was 30 dollars a glass.
Wonderful lunch on the patio, close to the train station & historic district. Our salads were well prepared. On weekend evenings, various musicians perform.
My absolutely favorite place to just kick back and enjoy a really good glass of wine. The service is impeccable and everyone takes time to get to know you. Feels like a higher class of Cheers! Oh and the food...the beef stroganoff is a must
Love the winery. Great food. Good service, good selection of wine . Lovely patio
I made the reservation for me and my 5 friends. We got there are they had no record of the reservation. The girl made me look really bad like I didn't make the reservation when they had plenty of open tables. I showed her my confirmation and told me i had the wrong date when the date was correct and she sat us without saying a word after that. An apology woyld have been nice??
We booked New Years Eve at the winery via Open Table. When we got there they were closed . Two employees were doing inventory and said they closed at 3 pm. Either they didn’t inform Ooen Table or Open Table didn’t update the listing. Regardless , very disappointing on New Years Eve.
We made a reservation for New Year's Eve dinner as OpenTable showed many tables available. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were shocked to discover that it was closed and not open that day. It completely ruined our New Year's Eve plans and we were forced to scramble (as a large party of 6) to find somewhere else for dinner. Needless to say, our plans for a nice holiday meal were dashed; not to mention we had driven down from Los Angeles just to dine at the winery.
The restaurant accepted our reservation. However we arrived and the restaurant was closed with no warning.
I wrote an email but haven’t heard back. We made our reservation and received confirmation. When we arrived at 4:15 the sign on the door said their hours for New Years Eve were 11:00-3:00. Pretty disappointing and awkward reading that on my mother in laws birthday. The negative review is for open table, not Rancho Capistrano Winery.
Very accommodating, taking special note of our elderly guest. They brought out a heater and let her take her time....they also were very understanding, when our French guest, who is a wine connoisseur, wanted to taste test three wines! Josh was very gracious and helpful and we ended up with a wine that pleased our guest! Thank you Josh!
I've dined several times at your restaurant and sadly the service quality has lowered. Server knowledge is non nearly non existent; the poke I've ordered was not too my liking, quality was there, thus me not minding paying for it as it was more than likely a personal taste. Although there were probably a handful of guests ( I'm being generous as I believe there were a lot more in staff than guests) there was no table check performed. The original server I've had seemed rushed and almost not willing to sell me anything, maybe due to your lunch business levels you don't have people that order much. The second,I presume server, was a little nicer however the knowledge of the beer selection you offered was minimal at best. Even when I got up from my table and asked for the bill to the gentlemen at the hostess stand, I was not asked of my experience, not even when for the first time in my life I've left a zero gratuity. I was not looking for a comp, however a simple acknowledgment and apology would have been nice and would have gone a long way, and not a stare from your servers as I've walked out of your establishment.
We were a group of four on the patio and we were seated next to the guitar player. It was very loud & we had to shout to hear one another. Speakers needed adjusting, especially for such a nice patio.
Another wonderful evening on the patio with friends, a great glass of Mission Cabernet and delicious food.
Shared the kale salad and one of the pizza's with my husband. Excellent choice. The gal from Laguna Beach who was performing that night had a great voice and great selection of music.
We thought this would a good almost local spot. We had dinner and realized, that the food is average at best. The wines are spotty and the place is too noisy. I'm sure many would be happy here, but to me its not worth the time.
