Rancho Alegre Cuban
Paella was nice, Cocktails were awesome, reservation was not required. Only bottled beer unfortunately.
Am happy for this place that they are celebrating being open for 20 years. We were excited to find a Cuban restaurant to go to in Savannah, since the one we loved in our city shuttered a number of years ago. Sadly, we were overall disappointed with our choice to go here. Unfortunately, their being around for two decades must be because there is no other Cuban restaurant in Savannah to compete with them. Although we found the service to be good, the prices on wine to be great and the ambiance to be fine (and enjoyed the jazz band on a Friday night), we thought the food itself to be mediocre Cuban fare compared to that we've had in other places. We were told that items on the menu, that failed to come with what was ordered, were due to suppliers discontinuing them. However, since the menus were at least a year old (it said that 2018 was their 19th year in business), that they could have had new menus printed, provided a disclaimer somewhere what items were no longer available or found new suppliers. Overall, so far as the food goes, we would have been better served getting something to go from Publix and eating in. Hopefully the restaurant is able to overcome the deficits they have, but until they do I would not recommend going there.
We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and were seated right away. The dining area is unpretentious and tastefully decorated with wall hangings evocative of Cuba and the Caribbean. We were delighted to see a small stage with a live band performing jazz and blues numbers. Where can you have delicious Cuban food and listen to local musical talent and not pay a fortune in cover charges? We started with fried plantains and enjoyed grouper and paella valenciana for the mains. All generous portions: the paella was enough for two! My wife said she’d never had a better flan for dessert! The place doesn’t look like much from the outside but you will be happy you dined there.
I grew up in Miami and learned about Cuban food from two Cuban aunts when I was a boy. I have eaten at dozens of Cuban restaurants and most of the best ones have been in New York, Tampa and Miami.
The food at Rancho Alegre is genuine Cuban and all the choices I tried on a recent visit were very good. I found the bread served to be not like the Cuban bread I am used to having in Tampa, Miami or New York, but in fairness, I have not found good Cuban bread anywhere outside of those locations.
In all, it was a wonderful dining experience.
The food was delicious, and they had a delicious vegetarian dish with sautéed veggies and plantains that was super yummy!
Great food and service! The live music was a surprise!!
Food is good, to much noise, the band loud, price a bit high, service good
Delicious! Great food and enjoyed the live music. Fast service as well, and amazing drinks.
It's always a great experience. The Live music and food is great.
Awesome food and service plus it was me and my wifes 25th wedding anniversary and the maitre d asked and the band announced and dedicated a song to us.
Every visit is consistently high quality food and seevice
The food was good but not outstanding. The chicharitas was too thick and over-cooked but the mojo was amazing. The chicharone de pollo was very good. The Milanesa steak was good. I would have preferred more of the criollo and less cheese. The cheese almost over-powered the taste of the steak. The service was efficient - just not very warm and engaging whoch you would expect in a Cuban restaurant.
The food is amazing. The value is insane and the pricing is extremely fair. Everything we had was amazing; so amazing we went twice during our three day visit to Savannah. Loved the amount of options on the menu. Something for everyone.
We four ordered the Pollo Asado, shrimp in Creole sauce and the fried, whole tilapia. All came with rice, beans and perfectly caramelized maduros. Excellent food! The musicians were talented and engaging. One of our favorite dinner venues in Savannah!
Great place! Super fun vibe! We had a seafood dinner that was served in half of a pineapple....it was the coolest presentation ever and it was so freaking good! Must go!
Fantastic mojitos, great food, quick and attentive service! Our go to restaurant in Savannah! Jared Hall jazz performance out of this world good.
Authentic food with a fun atmosphere. The fried pork is delicious.
We absolutely LOVED this place. It is a hidden gem in Savannah - off the beaten path but close enough to everything to be convenient. Fantastic Cuban fare, nice servers, great menu. Loved it.
All around, a great place to have a flavor-rich meal!! They also have a great wine selection.
Fabulous restaurant. The food was perfectly authentic and the staff was wonderful. We went with our young grandchildren and they were not made to feel out of place. The best meal we had our entire visit in Savannah. We will be back.
We are new to the area and we’re looking for unique experiences. This place is definitely that! The staff were very nice and accommodating. There is plenty of seating so there was no wait. We didn’t have any kids with us, but other people did and we plan to take ours in the future. The food was amazing! My chicken was perfectly seasoned! A truly authentic experience! We will definitely be adding it to our list of regular restaurants!
We love the food here. And they always have great music. If you love sangria, have it here. Our waiter was great. A delicious dinner!
Great food, would definitely recommend it. The ropa vieja is delicious.
Great restaurant .... thurs Friday and Saturday live music .... always enjoy the jazz band .... TRY THE FISH .... whole red snapper
The food was authentic. One of the best Cuban restaurants we have been to.
Best Cuban sandwich in the city of Savannah. And the garlic toast is delicious.
This is probably the only Cuban restaurant around. The food and drinks were good. Not the best I ever had. Next time I'm in the area I'll stick to the appetizers and sandwiches instead of the entrees.
Love the food, love the music one of my favorite spots in Savannah!!!
Good service and a great atmosphere. As chefs we are particular about were we dine. Great time great food, and a great place. Best Cuban food I’ve had outside of Cuba and Miami.
Fantastic live music. Outstanding food. Authentic rum cocktails. Can’t say enough about this place. And they worked super hard to get us seated for our reservation even with the crowd and the music. Amazing!!
The atmosphere was quiet at first but picked-up as more guests arrived. Authentic decoration added to the appearance. Service was fair, not overly inviting. Food was fair to good, the Cuban sandwich was average with meager amount of meat and the bread was soggy. The ropa viejo was well seasoned and tender, good rice and plantains. Fun drink menu!
This wAs our 6th or so time dining here, and it’s always 5star across the board as far as I’m concerned. Love the Friday evening live music!
Great time celebrating my sons return from his deployment to Qatar.
Not my first trip. Good food, great service, good vibes!
Fantastic food. We had an appetizer and then our meal came out perfectly timed. Did not wait long for food 👍🏻👍🏻 Great service - our server recommended his favorites and we ordered them. We were not disappointed! Fun atmosphere - live music was great - not too loud that we couldn’t hear our conversation 👍🏻 Will definitely go back and recommend to friends & visitors!
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Savannah. Service is impeccable, the food is outstanding, the prices reasonable, and there is the bonus of good live music many evenings. I am always searching for the best margarita in town, and their top shelf Casamigos Anejo margarita wins hands down.
Fried plantains were awesome. The side salad was kinda simple and the chicken was way overcooked, not fry but stewed too long.
Food was amazing and staff was great. The red snapper was perfect!
Delicious and fresh cuban food.
Nice jazz trio playing
My husband and I went there at 8 on Friday night. We found a street parking spot pretty easily. There is a small lot behind the restaurant but was full. It may have not been this easy if we went earlier. Waited about 15 minutes, not bad at all. We ordered mojito, not bad but needed a bit more alcohol to make it better. For food we ordered the sampler app, seafood in pineapple, and fried whole red snapper. All are really good. The fried fish doesn't have much seasoning but I used the mojo sauce came with the appetizer for the fish, tasted great. The band was great and the music wasn't too loud like some the other reviews mentioned. We thought it was the right volume and it didn't affect our conversation. We had a great time.
