We have dined at Rancher' s for special occasions many times over the past 25 plus years. The atmosphere, food and service have always been impeccable.
We entertained my son and a few of his friends to celebrate his 20th birthday at Rancher' s expecting another memorable evening. We were extremely disappointed.
We did have a private room as requested. Our server was extremely inattentive to the point we had to ask for tea and water to be refilled multiple times. I ordered the special which was presented as Chilean Sea Bass and bacon wrapped scallops. The fish was not a fillet, but flaked and in a heap. No scallops, shrimp, to which I have an allergy. The appetizer dishes were never cleared from the table. We had to request the dessert menu. The steaks were just OK, not the exceptional cuts we expected from experience.
I hope this was an isolated incident, unsure whether we will return.
Superb Food excellent, service top notch
As always everything was great. The food is always very good, but my wife would like to see the capresse salad back in the regular menu. Jay our server always gives us great service.
They had a special menu for Valentines Day that was excellent. We had choices for each course. We chose the caprisi salad with fresh mozzarella and basil. The starter was bacon wrapped scallops that were prepared perfectly. For the main course we chose a 32oz porterhouse that was exactly medium rare and carved into slices for presentation. The entire meal was very enjoyable and the service was up to their usual standard.
We have been here before since moving to Albuquerque. The second visit confirmed our first visit experience. Absolutely great, will go again. Our waiter was the epitome of first class and we tipped accordingly. Highly recommend.
The food and service were outstanding. Will eat there again, and recommend it to friends.
Steak was salty, the stuffed salmon was dry and inside contents were cold. Way too much money for the quality of food. The decor hasn’t changed in 40+ years. I do NOT recommend.
I am so sorry to have to report it was very disappointing. I wanted to love it....the music in the bar was so loud you couldn't hear or talk. The young waiter was pleasant and willing to please, but overworked so things took longer than it should have. The prime rib was a 2 on a scale of 10. Looked like an inner piece of meat, and while tender, little taste, no crust, off bone...just a huge piece of medium rare meat. Nothing special for the price. The baked potato was good and that is about all I can say. My date had the stuffed salmon and crab cake and said both were good.
The Ambiance and service was good as usual but the food was not as good as it normally is.
Loved the atmosphere for our anniversary celebration
We were surprising my daughter on her 30th birthday but she ended up surprising us with the news she is pregnant and her boyfriend got on one knee and proposed! Surprises all around will make this an annual place to be!!
This is an upscale steakhouse deep in the hotel, not easy to find. Once we arrived, early at that, the hostess was able to seat us immediately. She wasn't rude but not warm either. Our waiter was working a number of tables and once he freed up, was quite good and friendly. Overall the food was great and we were very pleased. They had Chicken and Dumpling soup as the soup of the day and I highly recommend it. Its almost a meal itself so I did send half back as I wanted to leave room for my actual meal.
We celebrated a birthday during our last visit to the Ranchers Club. Great service, food and wine!! The menu has plenty of choices for everyone! Portions are large and everything was excellent. The waiter was attentive but not smothering!! Thank you! Looking forward to returning for dinner!!
We had a great experience at Rancher's Club of New Mexico. Our party ended up almost doubled the size we originally anticipated and the staff did not miss a beat. They were helpful and more than accommodating. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent and the ambiance was so inviting. We will definitely be back. Thanks so much for a great evening!
We took our parents here, we had just eaten there the prior week and it was wonderful, it was awful this time. The veg was 1/2 warm, 1/2 cold and we found out that was because they had cooked it in the afternoon and had a problem reheating it. For as much as it costs to eat there, they could at least make the veg to order! Out of 5 meat dishes, 3 were terrible. My filet was over cooked and I had to send it back, along with the veg, my mother-in-laws filet was filled with gristle (she didn't want to embarrass us by sending it back), my father-in-law's prime rib was not 12 oz., and came out brown-grey, as if it has just come from the microwave. He also didn't send it back, because he didn't want to make us feel bad.
The diningroom and bar are in the western mode
Easy to carry a conversation as sounds are mute by carpeting. Music, from live piano inthe bar does not disrupt the evening. creatve appetisers from a duck pate to oysters Rockefellar are great. The bison tounados were correctly cooked served with assorted mushroom gravy. Very large portions.
Definitely fine dining for Albuquerque.
Great choices for steaks. Elk chop, Bison filet, and Cowboy ribeye were all excellent. Ask a couple of sauces. I really liked the herb pan sauce. Wine list is pretty good, with several of my favorites in the $100 range. We were in town for a business trip and this was a great dinner to conclude the trip.
We had an amazing experience at the Rancher's Club of New Mexico. We experienced one of the best servers we've had anywhere, the food was outstandingly delicious, and the Pinot Noir wine was an excellent suggestion by our server. The price for everything is what you would expect from a high-class restaurant and we plan on going back to it again. We highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for excellent service, food and ambiance!
The Ranchers' Club, despite some recent changes, remains Albuquerque's best steakhouse. We miss the special touches of the past, such as the tableside crafted Caesar salads and the dome-covered platters of food, but the oysters rockefeller and big steaks are excellent, and the martinis unsurpassed.
Wonderful steaks, sides, sauces and wines. Service was impeccable.
Ranchers Club never disappoints, our server Evan was outstanding! Food was delicious as well
You can tell it’s run down and used to be the happening place at one time. Food was good and the service was fine. Some other guy next to us was throwing a fit so that was annoying, but not the restaurant’s fault.
Wonderful dining experience with exceptional service!
The finest remaining fine-dining restaurant in Albuquerque. Excellent food; thoughtful personalized service in a premier ambiance.
We went on a weeknight right after the new year holiday so there were not very many people in the restaurant-- one other table was occupied. The food was really good though my bone in ribeye was a bit tough. Overall it was a good meal and I would go back.
Overall the steaks were average, not bad but not great either given the price they charge for them. For the same price ($35-$45) I have had much better steaks in Santa Fe with much better service and ambiance. This restaurant is fine, just not worth the prices they charge.
The hostess was not friendly at all which set the tone for the rest of the evening. No smile, no greeting, just a horrible hostess for a supposedly high end restaurant.
Been going there since they opened and never been more disappointed with the service, food and the clientele.
It seems to have gone down hill from what it was.
I will never be going there again.
Great food and atmosphere. The inexperienced waiter was the only issue.
Highly recommend it just the same.
The service and the food was outstanding. The cowboy ribeye and filet were great cuts of meat
