Folks in Grand County know that if it's a special occasion, there's really only one place to go. Ranch House Restaurant at Devil's Thumb Ranch sits rather unpretentiously on the edge of a sweeping meadow with the Continental Divide above, and worn hardwood floors below. You see, it's located in the original homestead that was built on the Ranch in the 1930s. We like to think that when those early pioneers picked the spot for their home, it was chosen for it's magnificient views - elk and moose wander by, the stars blanket the sky like you'll never see in a city. We also like to think that those early Ranchers knew a thing or two about eating well. And we carry on the tradition with style at Ranch House Restaurant. We serve New American Mountain Cuisine here - which means real food, cooked with real ingredients. Organic and locally grown whenever we can. Always fresh, always delicious.

Food was excellent! Service also top notch. Try to get there before sundown to enjoy the view. Ambiance inside was perfect as well.

We had a great dinner at Ranch House after a perfect day of cross-country skiing. It's not the cheapest place around, but the food and service are excellent, as are the views. Definitely a great option for a special occasion!

A relaxing, romantic restaurant. Warm/cozy lighting, extremely personable/attentive service, and delicious food. We dine at the Ranch House Restaurant every time we visit Devil's Thumb and it never disappoints. It is both familiar and fancy.

Amazing experience and we will go back soon. Had the Wagyu filet and it was out of this world. Caesar and Lobster Bisque was awesome too! Highly recommend.

I really don't like to do negative-ish reviews, in general people work hard in the food industry and there's a lot of entitlement that occurs in reviews, in my honest opinion. HOWEVER, my honey and I went to the Ranch House last week on Thursday night. We had a reservation and have eaten here before - with excellent results. On this night, the restaurant seemed highly under-staffed. There was a corporate group in one end of the dining room that made some noise but it was not excessive by any means. The problem came with the apparent understaffing, it took a long time to get bread/water after being seated, drinks were slow in coming once ordered, and we were left to study the menu for quite a while before someone came by to take our order. Once we ordered, it took a LONG time for any food to come out of the kitchen. Fortunately my honey's Wagu beef came out properly cooked and hot, unfortunately, my buffalo loin came out just plain cold. It appeared to be cooked properly, but the entire plate was literally not even warm. I sent it back, and it came back reasonably warmed, but the meat was then overcooked and the vegetables were not hot. Fortunately the manager took care of this entrée on our check, but this experience was not stellar - specially for the prices and food quality that is typical of this restaurant in our past experience. Our waiter was personable and upbeat, but the hostess needs to take some speaking lessons - while she does technically speak English, her accent is so heavy that it was very difficult to understand what she was saying, both on the phone and in person.

This is a gem - the food, service and ambiance could not be better. Visit after visit they impress - menu changes but never disappoints. The service is as good as it gets from the bar to the table. Don't miss an opportunity!

Always a beautiful, quiet, elegant place, Outstanding wine list and craft cocktails. Fresh local ingredients coupled with inventive presentations. The ambiance is worth a visit alone, and the food is consistently delicious and beautifully prepared. Have gone many times and will continue to go back.

Our soup and salad starters came out very late and my main dish was 'warm', not hot. Had to be sent back.

Horrible service! I have not paid so much to be served so poorly in quite a while. Steak was top notch but I couldn’t ever get what I was asking for. Many mistakes made on the orders. Onedessert was cold and hard.

We have been to this restaurant many times. It is always very good; the current menu is best ever! Great seafood, wild game, and steaks, including Wagyu. Gorgeous, rustic setting! You can have a late afternoon XC ski or snowshoe, enjoy a drink at the great bar or in the lounge, and then have an amazing dinner.

We were guests at the Devil’s Thumb Ranch for a 3-day stay and unfortunately this particular onsite restaurant was only open for one night, the Sunday night, of our stay. Service was much better here than at Heck’s (another DTR restaurant). We enjoyed our dinner here, very much. Food was very good and service was nicely-balanced, smooth, attentive and friendly.

We have been to the Ranch House many times in the past and always had an outstanding meal and great service. This last visit was disappointing. The food was just so so, and the service was very slow. Hope it just a one-time thing. We love the environment.

We were at Devil's Thumb Resort and make reservations for the Ranch House while there. Food was good. I started with clam chowder which was very good. For entrees; I had the lamb and my wife enjoyed some of their wagyu beef. Both were well prepared. My only issues were the dessert cake was dry and the service was a bit remiss. They had plenty for the table count but something was off. Seemed very inefficient.

Well worth the drive to dine at this unique restaurant in a unique location. We watched a guest at the lodge say goodbye to the horses she had apparently ridden during her stay - wearing her bathrobe! Food was good & the cocktails were special.
