American
Folks in Grand County know that if it's a special occasion, there's really only one place to go. Ranch House Restaurant at Devil's Thumb Ranch sits rather unpretentiously on the edge of a sweeping meadow with the Continental Divide above, and worn hardwood floors below. You see, it's located in the original homestead that was built on the Ranch in the 1930s. We like to think that when those early pioneers picked the spot for their home, it was chosen for it's magnificient views - elk and moose wander by, the stars blanket the sky like you'll never see in a city. We also like to think that those early Ranchers knew a thing or two about eating well. And we carry on the tradition with style at Ranch House Restaurant. We serve New American Mountain Cuisine here - which means real food, cooked with real ingredients. Organic and locally grown whenever we can. Always fresh, always delicious.

Gorgeous venue - sweeping views of the valley and mountains surrounding the Devils Thumb property, the Ranch House is the perfect combination of rustic and elegant in its decor - it makes you want to settle in for a long while to enjoy all it has to offer. Food-wise, it's definitely pricey and a couple of the items we ordered were much smaller than anticipated - the tuna poke salad was tiny, and the charcuterie plate also was on the diminutive, albeit super delicious, side. We had an awesome waiter Ethan, who knew a great deal about both wine and food, and had good recommendations. The lobster pasta dish was insane with the amount of lobster it contained; the wagyu steaks were every bit of amazing as the reputation (again, super pricey though), and the bacon-wrapped elk loin was very tasty and not gamey at all. We also tried creme brulee trio - chocolate, classic, and strawberry along with chocolate hazelnut ice cream and salted caramel ice cream. The strawberry was a bit on the overly sweet side, but we devoured every last bit of the other desserts. The Ranch House did not disappoint!

One of the best steaks we’ve ever experienced. Wagyu beef that is raised on site, beautiful scenery. Cocktails were amazing and the bartender was very knowledgeable. Waiter was well versed with the menu and fun with the kids. Kudos to the staff, it’s so hard in this mountain town to find a place where all things come together.

Great food and view. I had the veggie bolognese- incredible vegetarian option. This surpassed expectations- especially with Dennis' cocktails! Wow loved the Barrel Aged Manhattan. Seanne took great care of us and very knowledgeable about the menu with our questions. Will be back for another special date night!

A wonderful space. Bar is amazing. Food was great except our bread was burnt. Crab cake bottom crust was also burnt. Took the flavor away from the cake. The steak, however, were on point! They were perfect. Thank you for a great experience. I'll be back.

Everything was superb! We knew it would be, which is why we treated my family to dinner during their visit, which also included cross-country skiing at the Devil's Thumb Ranch nordic center, massages at their spa, and then a delightful happy hour and dinner.

The food was very good but not the best I had in the area. The ambiance was fabulous though it is a little difficult to get out to if you’re not already staying there. It’s definitely worth going out there though, seeing the facility, and experiencing the meal. The girl that waited on us was fabulous. We loved her!

I cannot recommend dinner at the Ranch House. Appetizers at the bar would be a better use of your time and money. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was excellent but the quality of the meal does not hold up to the pricing. My wife and I enjoy the ambiance of Devil's Thumb Ranch and find ourselves there a few times a year and this was our first time at the Ranch House. We'll be back to DTR for sure but we will not be dining here. Volario's in Winter Park, another Devil's Thumb Ranch owned restaruant, has far better food at resolvable prices and would be a much better dinner choice.

I rated the restaurant as "noisy" but I that may have more to do with the group at a near-by table than the average dining experience.

Not a lot of effort to match the high price. The protein was missing from my wife's dish, and had to brought out half-way through our meal. My wagyu filet was good, but lacked the "buttery" interior I would expect from a $70 5 oz cut. We both left wishing we had gone elsewhere.

We had dinner here while in the area. Our table was ready even though we were a bit early. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The soup was full bodied and flavorful. We had scallops and a Filet. The scallops were perfectly cooked and very tender. The Filet was seared just right and cooked to an absolutely stunning medium rare as we had ordered. Both dishes just melted in you mouth. The wine list has over 200 choices and we found an Austrian Riesling that we loved. All through the meal the servers were very attentive keeping our water full and checking to make sure we needed nothing. This is without a doubt, the best place to eat in the entire county. They grow their own beef on a strict grass diet and it is certainly the best of the best when you choose to dine here. We will return and highly recommend it to everyone.

There was some problem in the kitchen, as we were told. However, it took well over two hours to get our dinners from the time we sat down. All of us were tired from skiing all day, and quite hungry by the time it arrived. Still a wonderful restaurant. And we will come back.

Maybe it was the holiday crush, but our dining experience was less than perfect. Our table wasn't ready when we showed up (on time) for our reservation. We were kept waiting, then seated in an uncomfortable location, behind a door that kept opening, and in the line of traffic. The staff were gracious and moved us. Cocktails were great, food was above average, but service was incredibly slow and spotty. An appetizer we ordered showed up with the dinner, almost two hours after we were seated. We ordered the Wagyu beef, one medium, one medium rare -- they both came out rare. We sent one back to be cooked some more, and it took 15 minutes to come back from the kitchen. Dinner took over 3 hours. Check the menu before you go for selections (somewhat limited) and pricing so you're not surprised. Ambiance is terrific. It's a lovely spot for a romantic dinner if you have the budget and the time.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary here and it was the perfect choice. After a spa afternoon we ended our day at the Ranch House with an excellent meal that was both beautiful and delicious! Our waitress was attentive but not intrusive and very knowledable. The ambiance was cozy, warm, and inviting. Devils Thumb Ranch is stuff movies are made of and we’ll be back!

We love the food and ambiance and had a great experience in the past. However, when we went for Christmas Day dinner, our entree didn’t arrive till 9:10pm. We got seated at 8pm.
Although the staff apologized and admitted that something went wrong, our bill was not corrected. It would have been a nice gesture to possible comp a glass of wine. Instead they double charged us.

This was the second dinner with family of 5 at Devils Thumb. The previous was about 7-8 years ago.

Ambiance is fabulous and quiet. Seats only about 50 or so. Food is absolutely terrific with the elk, bison and ranch raised steak leading the way.

Always going to be expensive but worth the value.

The staff and the facility are excellent. The menu is extremely limited with little selection. Not wanting Elk, Buffalo or extremely expensive Wagu beef, the only 2 selections available were chicken and scallops. The chicken was described as lime-poblano, but was almost flavorless. The scallops tasted old with a significant after taste. Both entrees were $35 plus, which was a waste.

Too bad, because this venue could be so spectacular!

We had the most amazing dinner at the Ranch House @ Devils Thumb Resort & Spa. Lamb Rib-lets , Ahi Tuna Salad and Diver Scollops ALL were exceptional. The only issue was the delivery of our entree'. It seemed to take a very long time between salad course and dinner. Aside from that hiccup, the ambiance is lovely, the service is spot on and the food presentation and taste is top notch. Enjoy!!!
