Where do the locals eat?? Here!!
Oh my stars this is a great place! Fantastic food, great atmosphere, attentive but not intrusive staff - we loved it and will come back every time we are in Austin. Can't say enough good things about it!
I had a most excellent meal. I highly recommend the extraordinarily flavorful Divorced Quail.
I would definitely recommend the crispy oysters for appetizer and chicken fried steak dinner plate. Yummy!!
The menu was unique and food was delicious. The atmosphere is very casual and noisy. Great spot for 20-30 yr olds.
Lovely meal. Great service and good music. Loved it..
Great food, fun ambience and very accommodating team.
This is a hard review to write as I don't usually write negative; actually the shrimp tacos were good but could have actually used more shrimp to qualify (the fried shrimp were very tasty!) and less greenery to hide things. One of our friends had a frozen margarita - she said it wasn't particularly good, and it certainly was a bit small for the price. The key lime pie was appalling; it was a tart at that, and COVERED with chocolate sauce - yuck. The "tart" shell was very hard and thick and any key lime was maybe 1/4 inch thick inside, and then that sauce......sorry but I would never recommend this place for the extremely uneven food and rather nonchalant service. It is a little too weird/funky, even for Austin.
Great food, great specials and great drinks! Definitely coming back. Location is a great starting point for going downtown
Favorite restaurant in Austin. Been in Austin since 1997. Bear
Fantastic place. We sat outside, close to the fire pit. Service was outstanding - we felt treated like regulars, yet we’d never been to Austin before. We shared the Dom’s Special (fried oysters and calamari - great), had Divorced Quail, which was heavenly and the tilapia, also very good. And the chocolate torte and fried pies were irresistible, if probably several calories too far. The funky decor might put you off if you just walk by - don’t: this place is a gem.
Great Food and enjoyed the ambiance! Server was fantastic!
Best in Austin
Server was condescending for no apparent reason and got three things wrong on our tab, upping our bill nearly $100 and included a 20% gratuity when we only had a party of 5....
awesome service, amazing corner table outside for birthday party of 7 people. best fried oysters i’ve ever eaten. great job 616!
My husband and I visited Austin for the first time. We enjoyed many a great dining experience during our week long stay. However, Ranch 616 was by far the best! To say it has that "weird" Austin vibe is an understatement, but what sells it is the amazingly delicious food and generous portions. My husband had the Ribeye and I had the fish tacos ; each our favorites every where we go, hands down both of these dishes where amazing! Finishing it off with the banana/chocolate fried pie has left us planning our return trip already! Our waiter Billy provided awesome service as well!
Big note— this is a club like setting. VERY loud music and not the best for a family meal. That being said, the food was excellent, our waiter was tops, and the host did a good job getting us seated close to our reservation time. I highly recommend the oysters!
The waiter had quite the attitude. Almost too cool to serve us. Or at least thought he was too cool. And he included the tip in the bill (party of 5), which led us to believe he had nothing to lose if he gave us good service or not. I love the place and the food was good, but he was disappointing.
Both of my sons were in town and I wanted us to have a special night out. Ranch 616 was perfect! Everything was delicious, from the cocktails to the appetizers to our entrees. We will definitely return!
The Autumn Water and the Brush Fire drinks were amazing!!! Crab cake appetizer- the bomb!!!
The food is awesome. Steak tenderloin melts in your mouth. Excellent quality of steak. Ordered it medium rare and it was so tender that I could cut it with a fork. Cudos to the chef. Best Valentines dinner ever
It was our first visit to Ranch 616. We arrived for our 12:30 reservation and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table - no big deal, really. Once we were seated, our waiter was prompt, courteous and very knowledgeable. We ordered a wonderful fried oyster and calamari appetizer, then each had salads for lunch. The food was wonderful and the prices were very reasonable. When the check came we noticed that the waiter had omitted the appetizer (about $13). When we brought it to his attention, he remarked that since our reservation was a little delayed it was on the house! We will definitely be back!
Restaurant was very loud compared to my visits prior. Food was not as good compared to previous visits.
Yummy food, fun spot!
Had lunch on Friday, January 9th. I’ve been there 9-10 times over the last six years. Our service/waitress was great: charming and knowledgeable of the menu. Unfortunately the food didn’t match up. I had the fried trout sandwich with a side salad. The bread was not fresh and the sandwich was dry. Also, the kitchen must have run out of salad dressing, because all three of us had to ask for more. Maybe it was an off day.
Really good food and original margaritas!! Our party of 5 enjoyed the experience!
Great food great service
Food and service were off the charts outstanding!!!
It's nice to see an older restaurant doing great with all the changes in dining in Austin. Haven't been to Ranch 616 in years and now don't know why! 616 has been open for years and has always been great, menu is still creative but with a definite Texas feel and interior is just as Texas quirky as it's always been. Definitely will be added back to our list of local favorites. Quail two ways, crispy oysters, chicken fried tenderloin and some of the best green beans we've had anywhere.
Great restaurant. Very impressed because manager called earlier in the day to see if we would like to come a little earlier so that we weren't rushed. Open Table gave us 1 1/2 hours before the next reservation, but he has found that some like a little more time to relax and visit. I've never received a call like this and really appreciated it. He was right! We will be back.
Awesome spot, always a great start to the night -
It was a slower night than normal so it was much quieter than normal. Great food and fabulous service!
We will be back. Great place for the family. Lots of options on the menu and everything we had was good. The specials are way overpriced though. Stick to the regular menu and you’ll do fine!
Loved the trout on the menu, my wife and son were also impressed we will be back
The food was absolutely delicious but the hostess was incredibly rude to us. I booked a reservation for a business occasion for six people. The table they assigned us was way too small for six adults. We asked the waitress if we could move to another booth since the restaurant was basically empty. She said yes and then the hostess came over and griped us out and made us move back to our table because apparently that table was booked in over an hour from that time. Then someone else came over and allowed us to move to a third table that was larger. The second booth we moved to was never occupied while we were there. Considering I booked it for a business dinner with a new client it was kind of a disaster. I definitely won’t ever do a business dinner there again.
We love the quirky Texas ambience and the food here. It's a favorite that has never disappointed.
Great food and great atmosphere. So much fun!
So much fun! Definitely a fun place to go with friends - service was excellent, food was good (pretty heavy), great place to go with friends before hitting the nearby bars.
If you have a birthday, be sure to ask for the special dessert.....worth a photo.
