They changed the menu and removed some of their staple dishes that have been there since opening like the arepas with shrimp. The food overall was OK. Crab rice still delicious. The white sangria tasted like water with a bit of apple juice and no alcohol at all.
The tapas at Ranazul range from good to delicious. Topping our choices were the crispy duck salad and the rib eye steak. A butter nut squash soup was creamy but thin. Mussels were large but the sauce was undistinguished. We were very disappointed that arepas is no longer on the menu. Service was excellent.
Great service and wonderful meal. We all had the four course dinner and everything was fabulous. My favorite dish was the mushroom soup!
I have eaten here many times in the past and have always raved about the food and the service however I was disappointed in the service this time around. I made the reservations several days before and requested a “quiet” area (not near the bar). When they walked me to the table they tried seating us about 15 feet from the noisy bar. After being relocated to the back area of the restaurant I felt we were somewhat neglected when it came to service. Our waitress was not very attentive to our table/needs. I needed to wave someone down to give us clean plates or to remove dirty plates or fill our water glasses. The waitress stayed in the bar area most of the time with her coworkers and only came back once after we had finished eating to ask if we wanted to order anything else. Overall I was very disappointed with the whole experience with regards to the service as I know they could of done better.
Food and service consistently good. Our go to place.
Food was really delicious....scallops, peach salad, mussels, ribeye....yum!
We were also very pleasantly surprised by the small plates! Very generous in portion. (I mean we have left restaurants featuring small plates before...still hungry) . Not here - we actually brought food home. Nice atmosphere....we had a nice table tucked in back so it was quiet. We will absolutely be back!
We love Ranazul. Our favorites are the Crispy Duck Salad with arugula , potatoes bravas and chocolate lava cake. The waiters are professional, polite and attentive. There is no loud music so you can talk and hear each other!!! Ranazul is tastefully decorated and a very relaxing place to dine. It’s our favorite restaurant ❤️
Great tapas. Always looking forward to eating here.
Our server, Jackson, was very attentive. He answered any questions we had and provided recommendations.
The décor is nice and the staff are great!
The food is very good and I like that they have tapas and a prefix 4 course meal as well and entree's.
We went for a girls night out and its conducive to conversing with your table.
I am on the ketogenic diet and they had a good amount of options that actually weren't bland, and tasted really good! Great service too
The menu is superb - the food was delicious - the service was great - ambience was perfect
I really enjoy brunch at Ranazul. It's quiet, the food is wonderful, and the service is great. Lovely!
The food is fair at best and not worth it for the price. Service seemed inexperienced and was very rushed. Our dessert was brought out TWICE, once while we were still eating dinner, and again while our dinner plates were still on the table. We handed our dinner plates to the server as he put down our dessert plates. Overall, really disappointing.
"I love the relaxed atmosphere and attentiveness at Ranazul. I love Tapas! Ranazul is my go to place for Tapas especially their lamb chops. Yum! It was Restaurant Week in Howard County and I forgot they take of the lamb chops during this week. Ranazul didn't disappoint. The menu options were exceptional as always.
We went for restaurant week and could not have asked for a better dinner. Four courses at restaurant week pricing...truly wonderful choices and I would definitely go back to try some of the other offerings. The waitress (Krizia) who served us was phenomenal. She was very courteous and very knowledgeable in regards to the food and wine menu. She also did not rush us thru the four courses...she left ample time between each serving. Thank you Krizia for a wonderful evening.
Great spot. All six of us enjoyed our restaurant week dishes. Really excellent food. We will be back soon.
Good choices and great deals on the wine.
Restaurant Week is always wonderful at Ranazul
Ranazul is located in Maple Lawn development and has been open for several years. The highs of our dinner included wonderful shrimp and scallops appetizers. The main dish was a ribeye which was delicious, but the Portuguese chicken was a big miss and we went it back for another ribeye. The molten chocolate cake and cobbler were also fantastic
The kitchen told far too long to deliver our entrees, but I give our server and management a lot of credit in they handled these issues with care and sensitivity. We will return.
My first experience at Ranazul about a year so was nice. The ambiance, food, service, and wine were all good. This last experience on July 27th left much to be desired. The ambiance was fine; however the food was not flavorful and the presentation could have been better. Service wasn’t horrible but I did take issue with the waiter never forgetting to check with fiancé on how he liked the food and drinks but he never really showed concern as to how I felt about my meal (I was not drinking). I had high expectations for the dining experience based on my last visit. Those expectations were not met.
Celebrated my husband’s 70th birthday here! The food was great.
Always unpleasant to eat in a room which smells so strongly of meals being prepared/fried. Would be so much nicer if the kitchen odors were not so obvious.
Food was great as usual. Pricing is on the high side, but we enjoyed the evening.
Pleasant quiet setting in Maple Lawn. Excellent service. Quiet which makes conversation easy. The Prix Fixe is delicious bargain with avery good variety of tasty selections. You can't go wrong with any of the choices other than the pork tenderloin which tends to be a bit dry. Don't let that keep you away. The other options are excellent.
Upon my request, a quite table away from the bar was reserved for my party. That gave my party a very pleasant and enjoyable dinner. Thank you.
Excellent restaurant. The food, service, and ambience were wonderful. We will frequent this restaurant often, and it's only about 10-minutes from our home.
The service is always friendly and attentive, topped only by the food, beautifully presented and tasting delightful.
The food lacked taste. My husband and I shared a salmon dish. I had one taste and no more. It tasted like I licked the scales of a fish. It was awful.
Everything was good.
The food and atmosphere was amazing! The service was amazing as well.
Food was delicious. Very Nice environment. Will definitely return.
It was quiet the time we were there, but that was Saturday at around 12:45 when there was only a few people at table. I suspect with all the windows it may get rather noisy when te restaurant is crowded.
All in all, it was a quite pleasant experience.
This restaurant never disappoints. The food is always delicious and we’ll-presented; the service always attentive and friendly. My friend and I were seated at a quieter table as requested on Open Table. The sun was very bright and the staff offered to lower the shades without being asked. Jose our waiter made sure we were well taken care of, which involved numerous trips to our table as we were chatting and slow to order. We both went with the Prix Fixe menu and took advantage of the substitution options which was a welcome feature. We wanted to share a bottle of wine and Jose offered to have their wine knowledgeable staff assist. Mariano was so helpful and we enjoyed his recommendation as it went well with the entire meal. Can’t wait to return!
A real gem in the Maple Lawn Area. Well-lit, clean, and new space with panoramic windows is inviting and comfortable. The wine list was extensive and well cultivated (including links to local talent!). Most of the tapas were top notch (the crab orzo was *spectacular*, in specific), with only a few weighing in at merely "well above average." The host staff was a bit under-experienced, but the floor manager more than made up for it with a table correction and attentive service for the rest of our evening. We spent quite a bit of time and money, so the 4/5 rating is only in relation to bill tally. Ranazul is excellent!
Wonderful time... Happy hour drinks and 4 tapas - exquisite!
The woman next to us was talking on her phone on speaker very loudly and no one from the restaurant stopped her. The server was training another server ok how to open a bottle of wine in front of us. She almost stabbed herself. The server also advised us on how much tapas to order and she oversold us. We would up ordering way too much food.
This was a nice vinue for Mother's Day and thr live music was very pleasant and help to set the atmosphere. The drinks was really good and I would suggest them to anyone. The food was good we had the 4 course meal and thr quality was ok for the price. The dessert was awsome, but the main attraction was the ambiance.
Food was very good as well as service. The guitarist was a wonderful added touch that made the evening memorable.
A bit expensive for the suburbs, but a favorite for special dinners.
Food was great. However, service fell short of the mark. My wife and I shared the 4 course pre fix meal. I asked no less than 3 times to bring a second plate. 1st attempt was a failure, waiter brought a bread plate. This happened 3 times before the waiter goot it right. Share a meal. Bring a dinner plate. Not rocket science. Secondly, the waiter would disappear for 15 to 20 minutes. Water glasses were not fille d untille the end . Lastly, manager never came around to greet the guests. The back of house was great . The front of house failed. I attribute this to a lack of management.
