Rams Head Tavern - Annapolis Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful experience in our weekend getaway -- especially paired with Mary Gautier on stage next-door! Our server Chassie was an absolute delight. Good at her job, but also a very cool person. The Annapolis version of eggs Benedict will occupy my dreams until I can return...delicious with a beautiful prersentation. Only quibble: the music was a tad loud for me, but I'm particularly sensitive to that!
We enjoy shows at Ramshead a few times each year and usually eat there before the shows. Previous visits have resulted in better food and quicker service. This time, both were mediocre and the restaurant was really loud. It was an off night for them I guess. Hopefully better next time.
Visited for a cold Sunday evening dinner. Seated in the back dining room by the fireplace. There were no other diners so it was quiet and cozy. Dining as vegan and vegetarian, we selected the black bean burger with a side of broccoli, brie bites and a Copperhead Ale. The servers and chef were attentive and sensitive to dietary observances making the necessary suggestions that would work best. The black bean burger is tasty with fresh avocado, spinach and presented well. The chef caught a potential allergen and the server suggested a side of fresh vegetables as a replacement. Selected brocolli and it was prepared with wonderful smattering of crushed garlic. The brie bites boasted of a mixed flavor of sweet and creamy. Excellent evening overall.
This review is mainly a shout out to our outstanding server yesterday. His name was John T. Couldn't have been friendlier, and answered all our questions effortlessly. He's a keeper!
Oh, and yes - the food was fabulous. The Ram's Head has never disappointed me. Which is why I suggested it to my friends.
Rams Head Tavern was a complete disappointment for my group of 6. It looks like a lively and fun place from the outside and online and even up front near the bar. We were sat in the back which had a different vibe. The table cloth was an old bubbled plastic cover. Our waiter spoke so softly that it was a problem. We had to have him repeat things over and over to understand him. Worst of all the food overall was just not good and we got an assortment so it wasn’t just one particular type. The crab bisque was cold on top, scorching on the bottom, and more paste than bisque. The mussels didn’t have flavor. The salads were thrown together and again just very bland. Not the most inexpensive place in Annapolis. Look for a good meal elsewhere on West or Main.
Basic tavern food in a great location. We are music fans and come here often because it is convenient when we are going to shows at RamsHead On Stage. I probably would choose another restaurant were it not for that convenience, but it is a solid tavern experience.
We had tickets to Rams Head OnStage and so booked dinner at the tavern beforehand. Our waitress, Megan, warned us that it was her first night, but she provided competent service and the kitchen was prompt. The food is pretty basic American with decent portions and well prepared. After we finished eating Megan escorted us and our beer through an inside entrance to the stage area, thus avoiding going back out into the rain and avoiding the queue at the outside door.
The hostess was good but the rest of the service was awful. We ordered wine & this is the first time a waiter just put the bottle on the table and didn't open it for us or pour the first glass. Then we had cocktails later on which neither one was made correctly. The drinks weren't even the correct color. Very limited menu for entrees unless you wanted sandwich w/ fries. I had to ask for a dessert menu. The same dessert came out twice. I will not be returning.
My husband and I had a great meal at the Rams Head Tavern Annapolis. The Shrimp and Grits were uniquely and perfectly flavored. The shrimp was melt in your mouth and the grits themselves were great!!! My husband had the Belgian Steak Frites. The steak was cooked as ordered and had an amazing flavor. The French Fries we a bit on the oily side but were flavored with tons of garlic (which we both love). We would recommend both dishes!
Our good for brunch was good. However our waitress was just awful. She commented several times about how stupid she was and only proved herself correct. Had to repeat each order multiple times, kept coming back asking questions about our order, ignored the need for coffee and soda refills.
Nice place to visit for dinner and a show. It usually runs us $150 for the evening but that is to be expected. Too bad they do not have a Season Ticket Special where you get a 40% discount for a package of 6 show throughout the season. Something like the Hippodrome has.
We enjoyed a very nice birthday meal prior to attending a jazz concert. Our food was just as we ordered, and our service was excellent. There were many healthy items on the menu
I don't like having to ask for bread or rolls when ordering entrees, and then being charged $3 for it I think when you're spending over $60 for meals for 2 that bread should be included, not an added charge.
I've eaten here a number of times, always just before a show at the adjoining Rams Head on Stage (they have a discount package and also walk you through to your concert seats afterward without going outside). The food is generally decent to above-par pub food. This time, we had the worst server(s) (regular and trainee, apparently) who first screwed up the drink order, then I had to chase her down to place our order, then after asking twice about our appetizers, they were delivered at the same time as our entrees. I had their lobster special, which is a deal at $20 for a 1 1/2 lb steamer, but the corn was cold, and I was given two pats of butter to cover both an ear of corn and a baked potato. I got shade thrown when I asked for more and it took extremely long to get it (at which point both the potato AND the corn were cold). My husband's appetizer was soup and he had fish and chips as an entree. Having both delivered together meant one or both would cool off while the other was consumed. The wait staff seemed baffled when he asked for vinegar for the F&C. Although we arrived at 6:15pm in order to finish ahead of our 7:30pm concert, we barely made it in time and that was because we both left parts of our dinner due to the 45 min. delay in bringing the food. While the manager ultimately got involved and did take 50% off our check (we also had to fight to get the parking endorsement, which was part of the package), I will think long and hard before dining here again before a show. There are a number of other good restaurants within a block walk of RH On Stage.
It was a disaster from start to finish...tables not clean, no silverware, out of items, food was overcooked and cold, waitresses were overwhelmed and untrained. Opened bottle of wine before bringing it to the table, and then brought the wrong wine and still charged us for it. Food sounded great but did not match the description. Save your money and go anywhere else; there are lots of great choices on West Street!
I enjoyed the Duck dinner and the peanut butter/chocolate dessert. They were very good. Was attending an event at Rams Head Stage and wanted to enjoy dinner before going. Greeted timely upon arrival and the dinner was served quickly. Reservations with OpenTable was a breeze!
