Rams Head Tavern - Annapolis
For over 25 years, Rams Head has been an award-winning favorite serving creative tavern fare. Rams Head offers an outstanding happy hour, a legendary beer selection, and extraordinary live music 7 nights a week. Whether in one of the cozy dining rooms, the historic pub, or on the Wisteria-covered patio, you'll see why so many Annapolitans consider Rams Head their second home.
Food and service were mediocre. Limited menu for brunch/lunch. No drink menu provided and server not very knowledgeable about menu/specials. Don’t go out of your way to stop here.
You have to try the grilled Cesar salad. Add some shrimp! The crab cake is awesome. Healthy portion. And of course great beer selections!
Premium experience for the we three show
Always a great meal and great service. It’s a great way to enjoy an evening especially if you’re going to a concert
We went for brunch on the day of the St. Patrick’s Day parade. We ordered within 5 minutes of arriving but it took almost an hour for our food to come out. The server did not return to the table once during that hour to check on us or refill drinks. After eating as quickly as we could we were in a hurry to leave as the parade was starting. It took another 15 minutes to get out the door after handing over my credit card because the server could not find a pen for us to sign the receipt. It may have been a crazy day due to the parade. I hope our experience was not normal.
We've had good experiences at Rams Head in years past, but this one fell short. The service was spotty, and the prime rib wasn't. Wasn't prime, that is. Nonetheless, it's still a great location, the ambience is pleasant, and the beer selection is first-rate. Our long-term view of the place remains optimistic.
I am sorry to say we had a terrible experience. We were seated next to an entrance to the stage area which was a constant revolving door (we had no idea that was the case). The service was terrible! We ordered two drinks which had not come within about 20 min of being seated so the other two of us asked for a sample of a new featured wine. When she came back to take the wine order the other two drinks still hadn't come. We were seated approximately 7:10 for a 7:00PM reservation. Our order for dinner was taken about 30 min later and we finally asked for a manager at about 7:45 as we had nothing, not ever water! (our neighbors had been served drinks, had dinner cleared and finished desert during our 45 minutes in the restaurant. no manager showed up so we told the hostess we were leaving due to lack of service. We went to the competition across the street where we had fabulous service and a delicious meal.
Great spot. Great town. Lobster was awesome. Service excellent. All that and Tab Benoit
Service was not good that evening. Our waitress was not very attentive.
I was my first experience & a really enjoyable one, I must say 👍
Excellent restaurant, customer service, food, wait time and location.
We were surprised at the quality of the food. I have found myself annoyed with eating out lately because of the mediocrity of the food, but not the The Rams Head! The shrimp appetizer was so delicious we ordered seconds, everyone’s entree was above par, the service was great, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. We will be back!
Was there to see Amy Grant and had dinner before. Best Shrimp and Grits I’ve had in years, terrific server then seamless transition to concert venue. Will surely return.
We know it was a somewhat busy night. And maybe our server was new.
Having admitted this, it is not common to have drinks (including water) that were ordered as soon as we were seated, arrive 15 minutes after our entrees were brought to the table (and this only upon our request, once we could get the attention of our server). That was a culinary first for us! If only the water had come before the food, that would have been acceptable, if not perfect. And there was no apology for this.
On a much more minor note, our "VIP" reservation included the offer of either a free beer (we assumed just one) or $2.00 off a cocktail, as well as our tickets to the performance being delivered to our table. We found the tickets at the hostess stand, and that was fine, but it would have been nice if our server was aware of the free or discounted drinks.
These things were a bit of a disappointment to an otherwise fine dining and music experience.
We were greeted promptly, and shown to our table. We had thespecial of the day, stuffed avacodo with lump crab meat, and the cheesesteak. Our server was attentive and stopped by or table several times check on us. We saw the David Bromberg show afterward that was great also. I would recommend the Rams Head Annapolis to anyone seeking an enjoyable night out .
We go to Rams Head almost every time we're in Annapolis. It's a favorite. But the breakfast food did not match their lunch/dinner menu in terms of quality. The Seafood Omelet was dry. The eggs were very overcooked, the seafood almost an afterthought, and not nearly as fresh as their dinner menu options for seafood. And the little bit of seafood sauce on top did nothing to hide the arid eggs. The Chorizo and Egg tacos was saved by a good flavored chorizo, but the entire dish was clearly finished in the microwave. They could easily do better by grilling the soft taco shells. The side of potatoes were nice and crisply cooked. Service was slow - they were busy. They were fast to bring the check, though, without asking if we needed anything else. The Belgian Waffle was light and fluffy with a dollop of thick and creamy cinnamon flavored cream - the best meal at the table. The French toast was normal fare. We were also disappointed that they no longer do jazz brunch on Sundays. I don't think we'll do breakfast food again - except maybe the Belgian waffle if in need of a sweet fix. This is our standard go-to for lunch and dinner items, and beer. And nothing was done to spoil that. The atmosphere still has a great vibe, and staff is genuinely friendly.
There were 4 of us and we had all had terrific dinners! The service was terrific. We had no complaints at all. We look forward to going back to Rams Head.
It was our first time visiting and it was the perfect Valentines date choice. The lamb chops were delicious and the atmosphere was very cozy . We fill definitely return.
Great VIP Package! But.... the waiters delivered the wrong food to our table. Then gave us someone else’s check, then charged someone else’s credit card for the wrong bill. Brought us the wrong drinks. Very disappointed.. dis-organized, staff was confused, and not a good impression for our 1st time here. The show was great though!
The waitress was very good and attentative though.. I think maybe they were just overwhelmed that evening, even though it was not crowded. Good little location though.. and maybe good potential..
The VIP Experience was an awesome value. Shout out to our server, Eric, for recommending the Royal Broil and making us feel extra special before the Marcus Johnson / Mike Phillips show. Will definitely be back for date night soon. Well done!!!
I enjoyed the food but the dessert choices were very limited.
A nice carrot cake would have been nice for those who don't like chocolate.
Good menu and excellent beer choices. Good was excellent except for stir fry that came with uncooked rice. Excellent and pleasant server replaced it with another serving with rock hard broccoli. Unusual for the Rams Head.
The dinner started out well but 1 hr 15 min later, our waiter remembered we were there and asked for our dinner order. Given we had a show directly afterwards and had believed by allowing 1 hr 45 min for dinner, it would be enough, we declined as there was not enough time. I asked if he forgot about us and he replied, "Yes, I did!" He had to walk by our booth numerous times to get food and drinks for all the surrounding tables but nothing for us.
The reason I would refer a friend is that upon alerting the manager of our situation, he offered an apology and took good care of us from that point forward. Had the waiter at least apologized, we would have been ok but nothing was said by him. So, they win on the management level. The waiter needs to go or be given a customer service training. I have had their food previously and it was very good when you do get to eat.
Our server was awesome. The food was on point. And the show was amazing. Will definitely return.
Great place to go before any of the Annapolis MD shows.
We had a tasty meal with good service at the Rams Head tavern. It was a very convenient pre-show meal with efficient service......................................
I would return again...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Great venue to see any band. The VIP experience is definitely a great deal. 3 stars is mostly for the service. In the restaurant and the venue service was not good. One was inexperienced and in get that but the other one didnt seem to care much..
Pre show brunch
My chicken was dry and had an overpowering taste of lemon. My husbands ruben sandwich was tough and flavorless. Waitress was nice. We were sat right next to a fireplace and we were miserably hot and a group of about 15 people were packed in next to us. It was so loud we couldn't hold a conversation.
We had great service and great food and a fabulous time.
We had to eat in the pub because Rams Head overbooked dinner reservations. We used Open Table for our reservation, so we were not pleased having to go downstairs in a dark tiny pub. The server gave the wrong hamburger to my husband but the bar tender stepped in and promptly got the right one for him. My Reuben sandwich was average. The show that evening was great!
Came for the show and had dinner. Service was excellent (best we’ve ever had there). Food was good and the value fair. One suggestion, as part of the “Experience”, a free beer is offered AFTER the show. Why not offer that during the dinner? Seems a tad unfair. Thanks.
First time in many visits I was disappointed in my food (waffle and chicken sandwich). My husband said his was ok. Out guests, however, liked their meals v much.
Always an awesome experience! Love the pre-show option. Great food. Great concert venue.
The service was wonderful and the food and drinks were tasty! Enjoyed our time there prior to the concert next door.
amazing waiter and very fast service, best food i have had in a long time
I think if we sat in the bar area it would have been more fun. We at in the back restaurant and even though there were lots of people around it was boring. Everything was good but not really my kind of place.
The food was good and the prices were really reasonable. With happy hour discounts on food and drink, you can't go wrong. Our waitress was attentive but we felt no pressure to hurry up and give up our table even as the restaurant filled up around us. It was a nice extra to be escorted to our show seats without having to go outside in the cold after our meal. Definitely would recommend the dinner and show deal to out of the area friends, as it makes everything so easy with one stop.
Very good spot for your meal right before - or after - a show at the Rams Head On Stage venue. While limited food is served inside the concert venue, the bar restaurant has a much more diverse- and more substantive menu with many comfort food items, seafood, and desserts. I don't think anyone would have trouble picking out a meal which includes burgers and steaks as well. My wife had a chicken dish which turned out great and I did Shepherd's Pie which was well prepared and tasty. Tables were nicely situated, comfortable and the entire place had a nice, busy vibe with patrons waiting to enter the upcoming show or winding down from attending the early show. Good place for a night out in Annapolis.
