Took my sister for a Christmas present treat. We were greeted immediately and seated in a lovely room. Our server was outstanding - made us feel very welcome. We chose to use the "Complete Lunch" fixed price menu. Excellent pea/ham soup. Wonderful turkey, bacon club sandwiches. Divine cheesecake with pots of coffee. A gentleman (owner, manager?) came to check on us which is always a nice touch. This restaurant is worth the drive to share a wonderful, quiet meal in a beautiful venue.
Chicken Pot Pie, one of my usual favorites, tasted sour. Sauce was gummy on a $33 veal dish. The manager's solution was to offer more sauce when we complained! Our waitress was pleasant but service was spotty...never returned to the table so we could order a second glass of wine. Water glass stayed empty. A huge, expensive disappointment.
One of our favorite "special occasion" restaurants. Minor inconveniences keep this place from achieving 5 stars in our mind.
On busy occasions the bar is usually understaffed. Also on busy occasions, food service and quality could be a bit faster and better prepared. Our risotto was too salty and the lobster a bit overdone and a little rubbery.
The friendliness and attentiveness of the of the entire staff is, as usual, what keeps this place a solid 4.5 for us.
Food was great. Price was reasonable.
We had Kelly. When our table was being pre bussed a girl helping out kept dropping things. Knife fell in my lap. Then when our water was filled bus boy spilled water on my cell phone.
The dress attire used to always be at respectable level.
Guys were wearing pants falling off.
Women in ripped jeans.
The hostess was wearing red jeans.
The food made the experience for us.
Me and girlfriend had the Valentine's Day prefixed menu our meals were outstanding we both had the filet and 8oz lobster tail a scallop risotto and molten choc cake that was one of the best desserts I have ever tasted. Service was top notch food came out promptly and was priced just about reasonable
Everything was great.
We were very pleased with the service! The pre fixed dinner was outstanding with respect to variety, quality and cost. We will go there again.
Absolutely wonderful meal. Great place for a special occasion dinner. Old charm and very romantic.
We have dined at the RHI several times. This time was a bit of a disappointment. Our meals were warm, not hot, and fairly ordinary. The couple that accompanied us had hot, tasty food, so it was just the baked stuff shrimp that was lacking. We love the quiet ambiance, and terrific service, though, so we will give it another try before moving on...
Service Is Excellent & Food Was A Great Value....Great Way To Spend "Date Night".......
We always enjoy our time here.. service is excellent, and service staff is very friendly..ole time ambience..
Very enjoyable experience. We took advantage of the prix fixed menu and were very pleased. Service was exceptional. Noise from bar could be heard in the dining room.
Always good food. Table side Caesar salad is awesome.
First rate from start to finish. Great food, great service at reasonable pricing. Not many restaurants like your around, keep up the great work!
Came here on my birthday 12/31. They took us to back room . On our way there we asked for a table next to fireplace . They say they were reserved . But nobody sat there all night . Food was good . Service was slow . Nice place .
Fantastic Food and ambiance. So good in fact, I had a holiday dinner there a week earlier and decided to take my wife there for New Years Eve. However, I have learned that one of my co-workers cars was towed from their parking lot for making the right decision and leaving it behind after having a few to many drinks. Our tab for that evening was well over $1100.00 and thought it was a disgrace that The Rams Head Inn would tow a patrons vehicle. Needless to say, we will not return in the future. There are plenty of restaurants that don't "take your money and run" Pathetic.
Had a nice New Year’s Eve dinner and enjoyed Beth Tinnons music in the bar afterwards.
Great special occasion place. Very traditional.
A perfect evening. Great ambiance, wonderful service and great food. Haven't been here in a while but will be sure to come back more often!
We have been there numerous times. It always exceeds our expectations. The only downside this time was a group of diners way across the room that were very loud and obnoxious. Very much ruined the beautiful ambiance
waitress not very good, kept having to ask for things like dinner rolls ect..Food was great
I highly recommend Ram’s Head Inn BUT!!!
We have always loved The Ram’s Head. The issue for us this year was an extremely long wait to be seated. I noticed groups arriving after us being taken to their table way before us. Same size group. We had the same issue last year.
It was nice that the manager hurriedly served a bottle of wine as a piece offering but, I don’t drink!!! We were STARVING by the time we were seated!!! The hostess knew we were sitting in the bar area. They could have kept us informed and maybe serve our appetizers there while we were waiting. Honestly, I think we were overlooked even though we checked twice with the hostess.
The servers were superb. We had the same servers twice before and were happy to have them again.
The question is, “Will we return next year for Christmas?” We would like to but, will we once again watch the waiting area empty out except for us? Should I make our reservation two hours earlier then when we really want to be seated?
A bottle of wine poured in a hurry didn’t cut it!
Wedding was amazing !! Great venue , food was amazing!! Very Tentative severs & management!! Music in lounge was perfect touch on Piano - Beth Tinnon 👍. Be back soon neighborhood gem 😘
The food, service and ambiance were all excellent! I've been telling all of my co-workers and friends of our wonderful experience there - can't wait to go back!
Had a good day compared to some of the visits we have had in the past
Haven’t been here in years. Now I know why. Lackluster experience.
Walking in seems like an old cluttered country club. Maybe that’s the look the wanted to achieve.
Hostess was pleasant. Sat us in the Garden Room with no other patrons. Didn’t want to disappoint the server in that empty area so stayed. Should have asked to move.
The area is a walk through so customers and staff go through non stop.
Our waitress was nice. Our bus girl couldn’t stop biting her nails or cuticles. Disgusting.
Had seafood tower. Ceviche was horrible. Very small claims. Shrimp were seasoned but rubbery. Mussels bland.
I had Mahi. Small and seemed fresh from the freezer. Daughter had Beef Wellington. Was ok. Wife had Salmon. Loved it.
Service besides nail biter was good. Didn’t want to offend her or embarrass my family do didn’t say anything.
A bigger joke was some manager type guy in a suit came near by and yelled over to our table, “how’s everything over there?”. He was about 15 feet from our table and leaned towards us like it was too much for him to walk over or was unintentional uninterested.
There are way better options. Time for new owners too bring back the charm.
My wife and I always try to go out for a nice Christmas dinner date, Rams Head was very nice.
The food was amazing. Very fresh ingredients and everything was cooked to perfection. Relaxed dining experience, three courses, excellent service and table side Caesar salad preparation. Highly recommend.
the service was excellent. drinks came pretty fast. food was very good. my only complaint is the appetizer that cost $42. disappointed with the amount of food on the platters. other than that , it was great & we had a lovely evening
Frequent this resturant a few times a year and was very disappointed this last visit. Missing appetizers, drinks took over 20 minutes and one of the drinks was gin instead of vodka. There were 7 in the party and some got their meals before others. When I tried to point out to the waiter that there were missing appetizers - he became obstanaite and said they were pacing the food, when it was obvious that they were going to bring out the main meal next. For a meal that cost about $100 a person , you expect courtesy. It was a long nite we were sat at 7:30 and finished at 11:00 . I would think long and hard before returning. There are many options at the shore ....
The Ram's Head Inn is my personal favorite in the area. My parents were both born and raised in Connecticut, and, hence, I visited that part of the country and the seashore quite often. The RHI always reminds me of New England, and fondly. It is quaint and nicely decorated / appointed. This is, of course, especially true when the winter holidays roll around. I have a mid-December birthday and there is NO place I would rather go to celebrate it with my wife and our son. It was truly special, the ambiance unparalleled, and the service superb.
From beginning to end a wonderful dining experience. Outstanding service and delicious food.
Disappointing. Sat w reservation, but no waiter 10 or more minutes, then drinks took even longer. Very apologetic, but not good. Food was served on cold plate. So food was quick to be cold. Have to maybe try dining room next time.
RAMS HEAD is one of my favorite places
Had the chicken pot pie & it is luscious & quite large for 1 person
Took 1/2 home gave it to a guard in my bldg., said it was the best meal he had in ages!
Dessert vanilla ice cream that was Jack & Jill..a taste from the past.
Place is so cozy w/holiday decorations.... dine @ Ram's Head every Dec.
Outstanding dinner! Probably the best rack of lamb I ever had. Table-side Ceaser salad fantastic. Our first time back in over a decade. Was better than we remembered.
Service also outstanding, and they did not rush us.
Love coming here for special occasion dining. It’s very old school food and service but to me that’s a good thing.Always allow extra time for a cocktail at the bar first .Never disappoints.
We were at the Rams Head the night before Thanksgiving, so it wasn't very crowded. We had an excellent meal, with great service, great food and great entertainment (Lounge Singer). This was an historic restaurant with a cozy and antique atmosphere. I would definitely return when in the area. Highly Recommended.
Food very good. Service outstanding. Always enjoy put dinning experience at Rams Head.
First time here and we'll definitely be back. From the minute you wall in you take a step back in time to when restaurants paid more attention to detail. The bar area was really nice and the drinks were great. The tv in the bar was a bit out of place but I'm sure it's there since people probably complained about not being able to "watch the game" when they should have just enjoyed the atmosphere and the company they were with. The food was pretty good as well, not exactly on point with how nice the atmosphere/vibe was...The crab brulee appetizer was great but a little cold at the bottom, the stuffed shrimp dinner was pretty good, a touch fishier than we expected, and the veal/crab meat over risotto was a touch fishy also and very salty...and I love savory. That being said it was still good enough that we want to try other entrees. The service was great and very friendly and attentive. Overall we had a very nice night and will definitely be back.
Hadn’t dined at Ram’s Head in some time. The food was quite tasty and well presented. The service, when compared to previous experiences, was best summed up as sophomoric. The servers were polite but new little of the menu items preparation, how to serve each item or what utensils to serve it with and didn’t admit it. At a nearby table another diner saw it right away and asked if they had the 2017 vintage of Boone’s Farms. The server said she would have to check. Lastly, much of the serviceware was well past it’s prime. Sorry to see this landmark in such a poor state. Hoping for better times.
