Ambience was very nice, staff was attentive and food was very good.
As always— a great pleasure being at Ramparts!
Went based on a recommendation. My party of 10 was comfortably seated and everyone enjoyed their meal. (i.e., roasted chicken, burnt ends, shrimp & grits, pork chops, and more)
The mixed drinks list was significantly shorter than the beer and wine lists but they were still good.
Food was cooked perfectly and we were seated right away.
Food was good, staff was friendly.
Rampart's food is always great and the service is fantastic. Special thanks to Tim our server for doing his usual great job.
Dry rub ribs and roasted chicken were exceptional
Very good neighborhood spot. Been there twice and enjoyed my meal both times. Ribs melt in your mouth but might ask for sauce on the side if you don't enjoy a sweet red BBQ sauce and would choose a side other than the coleslaw (blah). The crab cakes ordered by my date were okay but not that tasty. Salads look good. Great place for football if you can find a spot to sit.
Dinner was very good, cost very reasonable (ensuring a return visit), reservation honored on time.
Ramparts was great. The waiter was wonderful. We had complicated orders and all come out perfect. We were never pressured to finish our food and pay the bill. Sat for quite a while talking.
This is very much a local neighborhood tavern, as there is really nowhere else to eat in the neighborhood. It's a decent pub-like atmosphere, with food specials and half-price wine on Saturday. My special was short ribs--good, but not as tender and as tasty as I had hoped. The salmon pasta was better. It was packed on a Saturday night.
Awesome food and service and they were busy! Try corn beef hash outstanding.
We’re from Texas and loved the whole Ramparts vibe !! The food and drinks were exceptional!!
The chef is excellent. He makes a great effort to up grade and tweek old favorites and make them new, His ability is very evident and his food is consistently good and a favorite for people of all ages and tastes.
The food was excellent, kitchen was on point! My dirty martinis were good and strong , got me cock-tailed! Happy Anniversary to us!
Loved it. It had several years since my last visit. I was impressed with the update. The food was great, in appearance, and taste, add good service and you have a great dinner.
Ramparts is a neighborhood stalwart. Always a wide variety of tasty specials as well as the staples. Fast friendly service and good value make Ramparts a regular for us.
This was our first time here and we will definitely be back. Kevin was our server and he was very attentive and personable. We can’t wait to come back!
Where to start? One of my dining companions found a 2 inch piece of steel wool scrubber in his pasta. When we showed the waiter, who was obviously VERY inexperienced, he said...casually...oh, sorry. Took it from us and placed it behind the bar, so it could conveniently fall into someone's drink--didn't tell chef, didn't tell the manager. It was restaurant week...we were not shown that menu-had to ask for it. Half price wine was a good deal. Food was just okay. Nothing spectacular. And the topper was....the table top is too short for the booth size. We had to sit on the end of our banquette in order to get close to the food. But it still left your lap somewhat exposed, which is where some of the food ended up landing. All in all, not a great experience. Will NOT be back.
Went for Sunday brunch. While you could order from either the brunch or lunch menu, and the food was good, the cocktails were extremely weak. Stick to beer or wine.
Food is outstanding! Great chef!!
Easy, casual environment. Always wins a Best in the Neighborhood Award. It's easy to see why.
We went for lunch during July so it was not very crowded which allowed us sit at a booth and to talk easily--without overhearing others' conversations. The service was perfect--attentive but not annoying--and the food was very good. We both had salads and they got the order correct even though we both changed up items on the salad from what appeared on the menu. Ingredients were fresh and the chicken was cooked perfectly. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food and we'll be back again.
Disappointed that since I had said it was my husband's birthday in my reservations, even talked to the people at the next table with a photo about the fact~ we are regular ( like once a week or two ) we were charged for the piece of cake ~ REALLY.... did not know waitress, but thought that still was unnecessary ....
Great neighborhood place... go to place... we always gave a good meal at a good value
We had a great meal and attentive service at Rampart's. I had not eaten there in years so was pleasantly surprised with the menu choices and execution of the meals. The seafood stew was okay -- all fish, no other seafood as advertised. The Lemon Chicken Papperadelle was excellent as was the Salmon w Mustard Chardonnay sauce; steamed spinach on the side was perfectly cooked as well. Our waiter was engaging and attentive. We will definitely be back!
Dinner with friends, everyone enjoyed their choices. Drinks and dinner were reasonably priced. Pork chops were excellent, vegetables were "just done", will go back again.
I made a reservation through OT for Mother's Day brunch at 10:30. When we showed up we were told that the restaurant wasn't open until 11:00 (even though website and OT said they opened at 10:00). Instead of offering to accommodate us when they opened we were told they were fully booked and that they were sorry. Pretty bad experience/customer service on any day, but particularly disappointing on a special occasion when every other restaurant is booked.
Jermaine made some great bacon and omelettes for Mother's Day Brunch. Service could have been better since there were few people dining. I sat without any water for about 15 minutes. If I had known it was a buffet, I probably would not have come here for brunch but it was pretty good. There are other restaurants where you can get a much better brunch buffet for the same price.
Ramparts is a familiar, friendly place. It was the perfect spot for a relaxing Friday night dinner after a tough week at work. Staff is always friendly and professional. Food is great and served in a relaxing, cozy atmosphere. It's not fancy or pretentious, just an authentic neighborhood gem. Highly recommended.
Wonderful neighborhood place !
I really like Ramparts. It has a nice vibe, great beer on draft and a very reasonable wine list. On Saturdays, many of the wines are half priced. What would make me love Ramparts? Consistency. About half the time that I venture beyond the sandwich menu, I am disappointed. About one third of the time, there is an issue with speed or quality of service. I experienced both problems on this visit--despite the restaurant being only 2/3 full, it took over five (5) minutes for our server to first visit. And when we asked for some time to order our mains, we did not get a chance to order until we received our appetizer. And when I asked how the pork was cooked, the response was medium--and what I received was well done. Ramparts needs to match its performance to its aspirations--with attention to detail and true management oversight. I WANT to see Ramparts succeed, I just don't know how many times I can be disappointed.
Had been singing at church for several days ending with the Easter Sunday 5 pm Mass so walking over to Ramparts with my visiting friend was a relaxing Easter dinner celebration.
Excellent Easter Buffet !! We will definitely do another holiday here ! Such a nice selection of food. Wonderful !
St. Patricks Day. Ramparts was busy, but the staff was on top of everything. Special "St. Patty's Menu" was excellent.
This is a nice, cozy neighborhood restaurant. Good good at a reasonable price. Parking is tough in that area !
One of my favorite places to eat in the area, good food, not too crowded, good staff and reasonably priced.
We dine at Rampart's every 2-3 months, usually on Saturday nights where they offer 1/2 price wines from their good wine list. Everything clicked this time--we were greeted quickly and escorted to a booth. While I was not thrilled with the location (right by the kitchen and bar) as the evening progressed there was minimal impact on our dining experience. Rampart's has a number of craft beers on tap and a nice by-the-glass wine list, which we enjoyed with Jack Daniels sliders as our appetizer. My wife really enjoyed the Salmon with Chardonnay Mustard Sauce, and I devoured the March special of fried pork chops with sausage gravy (not a diet special!). I was especially impressed to see the shift manager out and about supervising and assisting the wait staff. Well done!
Heading to a show at NVCC, we found this place for what turned out to be an excellent, basic meal. We arrived on "Rib Night" and ordered that and one of their hamburgers. Both were well prepared, tasty and perfectly sized portions. Service was swift and courteous. All in all, a great experience.
We frequent Ramparts regularly and this was another enjoyable evening. The place was jammed with post-women's march patrons and other diners but we were seated immediately and served promptly thereafter.
The restaurant is attractive and well decorated. I ordered the ribs and they were good. My wife had a chicken dish and said it was to die for.
