The food was AMAZING!!!! We will definitely be going back for more!!!
Service was good, wine was good, ambiance was good!
We waited over an hour and a half for our dinner. Meanwhile BiteSquad and other food delivery services picked up multiple orders. It would have been nice if the customers that were dining in where a priority.
Sons birthday dinner. Waitress took twenty five minutes to even ask if we wanted something to drink - had to ask someone else to flag her down. Ordered edamame as soon as we sat down - took over 30 mins to get it. Then brought all the meals out so far apart the first two were done before the second two even got dinner, and the last plate came even later. Horrible service and the food was just ok. And the place only had maybe 10-15 people dining so it wasn’t a matter of being slammed. I wouldn’t go back.
Great food and service!!!
The restaurant removed my reservation even though I showed up and checked in. Opentable was nice enough to put it back on.
We made the reservation for 22:00. Arrived at 22:05 and the we were told the restaurant was closed. Why accept the reservation in first place? Totally waste of time. We could have gone to another place but by the time we were told that everything was already closed
good service, great menu, good food, good prices overall a good Dinner.
One of our preferred restaurants in Bethesda. Excellent food and service.
The restaurant was not open when we got there at noon (for our reservation). The cooks were waiting as well. One let us in and we sat and waited 10 or so more minutes for the manager to arrive. She never spoke to us. Our server swept the floor while we looked at the menu. Dust is not appetizing. The food was good. The service was fine. We probably won’t come back for lunch if this is how much they care.
We got there early and were shown to a very nice booth. Raku was not too busy on Thursday evening, the restaurant was not noisy
And mellow music was playing through the speakers. We were happy to find the food very good and were very pleased with the tempura.
Service was also very good. We will eat at Raku again often.
Pretty quiet and slow when we arrived, but it sure filled up as the night went on. Gorgeous photo menu with so many choices. We were celebrating a birthday so enjoyed the slower pace and multiple courses. All of our diners found something to order that they loved...and our birthday girl loved her entree so much she ordered a second "helping"! Thanks, too, for the birthday candle on the ice cream to top of the meal. A delightful...albeit "not cheap" evening!
This is the third time that I've been to Raku (twice for dinner, once for lunch). Service during dinner leaves something to be desired. The bartender frequently doubles as a server for tables across the restaurant, which doesn't bode well for prompt service. They were out of one of the ingredients for my drink, but that gave way for a cocktail experiment, which was fine. But all of our entrees came out separately, which would have been awkward if it wasn't just family. The food is consistently good. Sushi is plated nicely, hot entrees are delicious.
Bottom line: if you go for dinner, expect to wait for some tasty food (and check your bill for accuracy prior to paying).
Great portions. Try the Captain Crunch and Fire Rolls. You won't be disappointed. Special shout out to JasonD. Great service.
Raku is a good sushi restaurant.... food is good, service is good and its convenient. I prefer other places in town, but its much easier to get in here at the last minute.
We go here to enjoy sushi and take the kids. Great apps that kids love to eat and also teriyaki.
There were so many butesquad drivers lined up that we waited 10 min to be seated. Food was slow to come out but is always good. If the service could improve a bit it would mAke a huge difference.
Although the food is often good, service is more often amateurish. It's a nice place to drop into for a casual meal. Usually, it's not too busy. There is a reason for that.
Real Wasabi if you ask!
Real Wasabi available!
A group of us had an early dinner before going to a movie. I made reservations, but they weren't needed for the Monday night we were there. I ordered the roast duck salad and it was delicious. Several women ordered sushi and everyone seemed happy with their dishes. Our server was polite, friendly and accommodating. We had a couple ladies arrive later and he was there immediately to take their orders.
Their dishes came out almost immediately so they could eat with us. It was a great experience and we'll definitely dine there again.
We've dined there many times and always had a great experience. In retrospect those were all weeknights. On this Friday night we had REALLY SLOW service on top of an incorrect bill, much more noise, and a general poor experience.
One of our favorite places. Great sushi and wonderful service.
Don’t waste your money. There’s so many better sushi places in the Twin Cities.
Service is a bit slow at times and not as professional or attentive as it should be at these prices. But, the food is generally excellent.
The food was a mix of Chinese and Japanese. The sushi was presented very artistically, but not the level of quality of Kyatchi, for example.
Raku was busy, almost full. Our waiter kept up pretty well and was just a bit flustered. Food was great.
My fried rice was excellent and the server was excellent.
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on a Friday night - it was a bit late (about 7:30). It was kinda dead here and we were seated quickly and then didn’t see our server for about 10 mins. She didn’t come to say hello or ask if we had drink orders, we had to flag her down and ask for drinks...and she wanted to take our orders. It was strange. I’m usually pretty empathetic with wait staff - but this place was over staffed if anything, so the behavior was unexcusable. There were 5+ people that worked there waiting tables and walking around and about 6-10 tables with diners at them. There was also a bar tender at a bar with no people at it. The menu is massive and has big pictures. Our food was OK, and our drinks were OK. My water glass and my cocktail glass were both kinda dirty and it made me feel super gross! Additionally, the booths weren’t ridiculously clean. I wouldn’t recommend coming here. Go elsewhere for your sushi needs, if possible, or check out any other restaurant in the 50th & France area.
We arrived to an empty room, but it was perfect for noise level. Got much busier as the evening progressed. Our party of 4 ordered 3 appetizers plus sushi and everything was great. Entrees were equally tasteful, and beautifully presented. Since we were reuniting with old friends, we weren't in a hurry, but our waiter was very attentive and I noticed him peeking around the corner at us, so we could easily get his attention if we wanted him, but he did not rush us at all. A very fun evening!
The timing of the arrival of the dishes was poor. Three people had finished their entrees before two people were even served theirs. The last entree was served 80 minutes after we were seated. This was bad since we were going to a movie and had told our server when we wanted to be out by.
Day in, day out, this restaurant is outstanding. It has an imaginative and varied menu, and it's hard to go wrong with anything. Our favorites include the pumpkin soup, mushrooms & asparagus, tiger roll, and bento boxes. Each offers elements of surprise to go along with the great taste.
The food and service once we were seated was fine, but they were not prepared for our group even though we had a reservation. They sat us all separately, but our reservation was specifically so our larger group could sit all together.
Big menu. Lots of sushi but other things too. Great for pescatarians. Bikable from my home (in good weather) and great dinner and a movie (next door)
Our friends were in from New York, and we wanted to get together some place close by and quiet (one of our friends is hard of hearing). We all love sushi and, although I had driven by Raku many times, I had not been there...so we decided to try it. Hurray! they take reservations!!! We were seated right away at a booth; and even though the restaurant was pretty full, the noise level was just fine for our friends. The waiter came right away and took our drink order and brought them quickly. When I wanted to change one of the offerings on the menu, the waiter had to ask the manager but returned to say it was no problem. We shared dumplings and one other appetizer that I thought were rather bland, but my tuna and salmon sashimi was fresh and delicious. My husband's dynamite roll was really good. One of our friends ordered the California roll and said it was exactly what she wanted.
I loved the fact that the first page of the menu was how to navigate Gluten-Free and other diet options! Way to address those things up front! We would go back for sure :)
