The food was great but our waitress was certainly not. It took her 30 minutes to get our drink order to us. Two ordered scotch on the rocks and by time she brought them to us they were already melted and we had to ask for more ice. Our appetizers came after our mains as well.
One of the best Indian restaurants in the Tidewater!
Came to Norfolk for our son's graduation and had THE.BEST. INDIAN.FOOD. EVER! Fresh, delicious, served HOT. Naan bread was to die for; really just an incredible little restaurant. Dinner was served at a leisurely pace, portions are generous but not excessive. Rice was unbelievably good. Staff was friendly, patient with those new to Indian cuisine and attentive. Never felt rushed. Music only added to the ambience.
The woman who seems to run the place and acts as host is lovely. The waiting staff are incredible - the chef knows the secrets inherent in the dishes. The restaurant is clean and cared for.
Parking was easy. Perfect place for a few colleagues to grab a bite.
Great Indian buffet. Love the Naan bread.
We came for the twice-monthly vegan buffet. It was tasty, and in south side Hampton Roads, this one of the very few venues that offers a wide range of vegan meals.
Went here years ago with family and remembered how much we all enjoyed it. On a stretch, I took my wife here for her birthday and it was every bit as good as I remember. Good was amazing, service great and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Definitely not waiting years before we come back.
The food was fantastic. Unfortunately it seemed like they were short-staffed (no bartender) so the service was a bit....unusual....and slow. We were in no hurry and enjoyed each other's company as we waited, but would have like mixed drinks. We were told only beer or wine because they didn't have anyone who could make drinks. Once the food all arrived, we were very pleased!
Repeat visit & as good a quality visit this time as our first
Always tasty. Service could have been faster.
Quiet on a Sunday night, there was no waiting for a table and with a decent looking buffet available, why not? Of course, the problem with buffet is that it's not going to be very spicy and it's a challenge to keep the variety of foods from getting cold, even with warming dishes.
A very good spread including chicken curry, white rice, naan break, pakora, even lamb biryani. Nothing especially spicy which was unfortunate, but what they did have was tasty. At least 15 different varieties, all good. The rice pudding and the carrot pudding were both very good too.
Service was good at taking away empties.
I would return, but next time I'll order off the menu instead of the buffet.
Love the food here! Highly recommend the Chicken Malai Kebab!
The atmosphere is beautiful and the food never disappoints. The staff is friendly and warm. The buffet is a great bargain, but the prices of the made to order food is memorable. Highly recommend a vist.
My wife and I went for a date and enjoyed the food and service. We would recommend it to others for an enjoyable, casual dining experience.
The food was totally awesome. We took some folks that would have never gone if we didn't take them there and they loved it. The staff was very excellent. they seemed to be under staffed, but they did explain the delays in the food and it was well worth the wait. They explained that they wanted to ensure all the food came out at the same time, which is totally fair, and that everything was made fresh when you ordered it, so that totally explained why there was a delay, or what we thought was a delay, since we could only really compare it to chain restaurants that mass produce. We will totally be going back!
I really enjoy the dinner for two.. the food was great
It is a bit expensive for what you get, but the food is outstanding. I fully enjoyed the atmosphere (Valentine's Day Night). Food was very delicious and the staff was very friendly. The manager was kind enough to explain each item at the buffet table (a special event that night). Food and service has always been good here and it is one of my favorite places to eat. Best for dinner over lunch, since prices are bit more reasonable. Also a good idea for larger groups- as you can order many items and share.
Rajput is great. Open Table, not so much. There is a major flaw with your system. The reservation scheduler only covers the current month, so it is not possible to make a reservation in the following month. This is very inconvenient. WHY DON'T YOU FIX THAT?!
Superior food and ambiance. We are big Indian cuisine fans and had a favorite restaurant in our Akron, Ohio home and most recently, in our hometown in Maryland. As vegans, we especially appreciate the wonderful separate vegan menu. We have very high standards and in fact have eaten at two Indian restaurants in the Hampton Roads area which we would never visit again. Rajput is a new favorite, and will become a regular destination for us.
Rajput is a very comfortable restaurant. We went for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We have eaten there often in the past and have always enjoyed the food. There are a lot of vegetarian/vegan offerings, but I love palak paneer and ordered it again. The spice was not what I requested, but it was quickly and cheerfully corrected. The garlic naan is another favorite of ours. It was perfect, as usual. This was a special dinner for us. I throughly enjoyed the meal and hope that I won't have to wait for another birthday to return!
We came here for my wife's birthday and were all quite pleased with the delicious food and great service.
Food is fresh and excellently prepared. Wait-staff could have been more prompt. Service was sporadic, had to wait for drink and water refills at various times during meal.
The vegetarian buffet is amazing! Great variety, delicious food at a good price! Service is great! Definately recommended.
We're regulars at Rajput but this particular evening the owner wasn't there, the person in charge allowed children with loud computergames to be played. We had to ask the servers for everything, extra cutlery, to be able to place our order (we actually waited 20 minutes and then asked if we could place it), food was off (not served to "Indian spicey" usual standard), had to request the check - just terrible service in general. What a disappointment. I hope this was an exception.
Excellent menu and buffet. It is paradise heaven for a vegan. The tofu dishes are exquisite.
We had a wonderful experience at Rajput. The food was delicious and the staff was very helpful and kind. The owner was even seen walking around greeting the guests. I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends!
Despite lethargic (possibly newly trained and thus forgivable) waitstaff, Rajput was a lovely dining experience. The decor is sumptous yet inviting and the food is very tasty. My tastes run towards South Indian cuisine so I was pleased to find many favorites on the menu, but in care of the western palate there was little heat in any of the dishes (not even in the dish requested "HOT"). But all was enjoyed by my dining party and the Lamb Kabobs were hands-down, the best dish on the table...no mean feat for a pretty fantastic (if heat-free) collection of entrees ordered. Mango Lassi-tangy, fresh and mangoey!
Garlic Naan-you'll reek but love every minute of it
Cheese Naan-mild,homemade curds add little to signature bread, except calories
This was our first visit to Rajput. We enjoyed everything!!! We are hooked for sure! We search for places that have good food and reasonable prices. Rajput had both AND made us feel welcome. They possess the hospitality that is hard to find these days. We felt at home and will be back soon!
The food was absolutely superb! All of the staff were extremely kind and attentive to our dining needs. The prices were comparable to other indian restaurants. We felt very much welcomed and at ease while dining there. We will definitely return to this establishment and tell our friends about our experience!
Service was slow, but food was excellent and worth the wait.
