The brandy peppercorn steak was the I ever had! Desserts were too sweet! I think it's hard to make a dessert that is not overdone on sugar. It seems like chefs get close but can't restrain themselves on sugar. We would buy candy if that is what we wanted. It's not. A very good place that has regained my attention and I will gravitate my dinners out to the Raintree again.
Good job to the management and staff of this romantic establishment. You will not be disappointed and I highly recommend then.
Travis, our server, did an incredible job and had great recommendations. Food was outstanding as was service. Very reasonably priced too. cj
It was our 30th anniversary and they made us feel welcome and special. Food was great as well
Wonderful ambience, lovely food, the service was good but not highly professional. Very nice place. The banana cinnamon crepe for dessert was very, very good!
My husband and I had the beef wellington and peppercorn fillet, one coffee and a chocolate molten cake. Food was just ok so I think the $109.00 (15% tip included) price was truly not worth it.
Good food. Time spent to complete the dining experience was longer than desired.
We have been to this restaurant numerous times and have never had a bad experience or a bad dinner. When visitors come to town, this is a destination that we tend to bring them.
We enjoyed our experience, as usual. But we were not in the porch area which is more quiet and a table of 8 very noisy diners was audible and quite disturbing throughout our meal, making conversation for us and our guest quite difficult. Next time we will request to be seated in the porch area -- or bring ear plugs. Our waiter, Charles, was very attentive and knowledgeable.
15% gratuity added to bill. Crappy server still earned 15% no incentive to do better.
Food was very good. Service was okay. Beautiful restaurant in a nice location. I did find it odd 15% gratuity is added to the bill for two people (of course I add the balance to make 20%).
We love dinning here. I really really do not like their policy of adding a 15% tip to your bill automatically. We’ve never been unhappy with service and we are generous tippers. 20% or better. Twice we have forgotten that the 15% was already added and we tipped an addional 20% on top of that. Please leave the tip amount to the discretion of your customers or encourage your servers to remind customers that 15% has already been added to the check
The restaurant is located in an old Victorian home in the historic area in St Augustine. There was plenty of parking around back and they had both outside and indoor seating. It was a little chilly out, so we chose indoor seating. I wish I'd known they had an indoor terrace for dining because I would have requested that when I made my reservation. We ate at 6pm on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was busy, but not noisy. Appetizer and salad were served quickly. We did have a bit of a wait for the entree, but I say that only because we are impatient eaters. :) The whole dining experience from arrival to departure was under an hour. We both had the filet mignon which was devastatingly good and melted in your mouth. I would also recommend the charcuterie board and the chocolate mousse. Eric, our waiter, was attentive without being annoying. Prices were on the high end of moderate but not unreasonable. Excellent value for the money.
Raintree is expensive, but pretty par pricing for the area in terms of food; ten-dollar cocktails, otoh, are way over-priced. The french fry appetizer with bacon & blue cheese is divine. Two of us had really excellent sauteed flounder with mediocre side vegetables. Excellent creme brulee. We split our check, so a 17% gratuity was added--a stupid practice, because it annoys people, and the waitron is thus deprived of the 20% a pleased diner might leave. We wouldn't have, in this case, though. Our server never shared her name and appeared to find her job an immense chore.
We really liked the restaurant's ambiance and felt like we were dining in an old house overlooking the outdoor terrace. The food was outstanding and the portions were perfect! We had escargot and I ordered the warm salad and the blue cheese encrusted filet which was so tender you could cut it with a fork. My husband ordered the lamb which was also amazing. We were celebrating a milestone and were so very pleased with our experience!
Usual lovely time. Attentive service. Good food. Great ambience. One of the best in St Augustine.
Used to love coming here, but after last night, that's changed. It took almost an hour to get our entrees and the steak we ordered (cooked medium) arrived well done, lukewarm, and dried out. The best we got was an apology from our waitress.
Hubby and I visited Raintree only once before. It was with a fairly large group, and I was not impressed. Hubby did not want to go back, but we had tickets for Limelight, and the location was too convenient to not give Raintree another try. Evidently, they do much better with smaller parties. We had a lovely table on the "porch," our meals were top notch - my ahi tuna carpaccio was so excellent! The wasabi gave it just enough kick. And the surprise was the included Roe! Hubby loved his steamed mussels. We just had to ask for another loaf of that marvelous French Baguette. Our "mains" were salads, but quite substantial, mine with shrimp on a skewer and his with salmon. What really made the night a complete success was our waiter. He was friendly, informative, and he was quick with our special requests, like our request for more bread and a forgotten coupon.
This is a traditional restaurant in a charming venue--a historic house. We sat in the glassed in wraparound porch. The service was solid. The food was traditional but of a good quality. There was not a lot of creativity in the preparation, but solid.
A delightful meal on the patio on a chilly evening thanks to radiant heaters.
In the bar - much quieter and more intimate than the main restaurant last night.
Overall, very pleasant.
Where to begin I Absolutely love this placeAs an old-school feel in a historic location and the food is a one my compliments to the chef whoever they may be our waiter was very upbeat and full of energy which is what I feed off of the Decour was pleasant very welcoming not as noisy as other places just the right amount of noiseThey’re feeling shrimp with mushroom sauce was to die for everything from the Breadedcalamari’s to the bisque soup every mouthful was delicious I would recommend for those want to celebrate the day of birth special occasions brunch this is the place to go saying Augustine’s best kept secret
Very nice atmosphere. Many wines by the bottle listed for less than $40. We were seated in the small dining room in the front of the restaurant, which was very quiet as there were only 5 tables. We would have enjoyed dining on the patio, but it was too chilly that evening. Our meals were just the right portion size and everything was delicious. Our server was professional and provided us with just the right amount of attention throughout the meal. The white lights that adorn the outside of the property provide a very nice ambiance throughout the establishment. We highly recommend.
Consistent quality food and dependable service makes this one of our favorites, particularly for Sunday brunch. Their buffet enhanced the value.
My husband and I dined at Raintree for our one year wedding anniversary. The restaurant's ambiance was beautiful and very romantic. However, the food was subpar, especially for the price. On my reservation I indicated it was our wedding anniversary, but the waiter didn't acknowledge this or even ask if we had ever dined at the restaurant. Service very average. Sad to say it was our first and last time.
We were rushed, server never got back to check our meal. Highly overrated. We ate and left. No one asked how are evening was.
We were only in St Augustine for the one night. The hotel recommended Raintree and we were very happy with our experience there. The food was fantastic, the bartender was helpful and friendly and our waitstaff was great. We would highly recommend Raintree.
We brought our friends to the Raintree for dinner, their first time but not ours, We've celebrated New Years Eve at the Raintree for the past 3 years and have always been very pleased. On this evening, as usual the service was perfect, we had made reservations but due to traffic our husbands were late and the staff was very understanding. My girlfriend and I had the house special, shrimp and orzo. Both of us thought the dish very salty. Our husbands were very pleased with their food. Our friends very much liked the Resturant as well as us. We'll continue to return to the Raintree.
This was my 2nd visit to Raintree. I make a point to stop when I am in town for an event. It seems more like a locals place instead of a tourist stop. A lovely Victorian building that has very successfully been converted to a commercial building. This creates many smaller rooms and areas instead of the big open and loud style in many restaurants. I am pleased by the variety on the menu plus daily specials. Save room for one of the fresh crepe deserts.
My Manhattan drink was not good. They replaced it with a good one so that was fine. The four of us enjoyed our meals. It is a favorite restaurant in St. Augustine."
Excellent service and food. Great bar and wine list. Loved the bruschetta and the fresh mahi dishes were excellent.
Very good location. Great food in a cozy old house setting. Indoor and outdoor seating.
A warm February evening led me to Raintree’s patio for dinner. The menu seemed inspired, but the components of my veal and shrimp entree seemed not to relate to each other, which disappointed, as did my starter Raintree salad, tasty but woefully over-dressed. But a seriously good house-made Key Lime pie saved the dining experience, as did my server, Shannon.
Very good food and service. A place you can actually talk in a normal voice and be heard which is becoming rare. Nice pleasant atmosphere and causal but nice surroundings.
The place itself is beautiful. The service is just average. Nothing special, just going through the motions. We were celebrating an anniversary, but they never asked. Our waitress never smiled and was't friendly at all. Just put things down and picked them up. Our food was also just okay. No wow factor, nothing that stood out. Every year, we go someplace nice and a little pricier. This year left a lot to be desired.
This is a quality restaurant that always pleases. The food is always good and with attentive service.
The Beef Wellington (the house special) was good but the veal and shrimp dish was outstanding. The Raintree salad was very good . Bread pudding desert was fantastic as was their old style desert drinks (Brandy Alexander, Grasshopper, etc.)
Great place. Love the food. The beef Wellington’s are the best and on point. Will always recommend this place
My husband and I went to celebrate a very special occasion and although the food was very good, we felt rushed throughout our dinner. We also had an issue with the air conditioning - we were sat inside and it was uncomfortably warm.
