Raintree Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We visit St Augustine for 4 days in November every year. We always book 2 nights there through Open Table. Usually a Friday and Sunday. Friday and Saturday is Prime Rib. Some of the best I've had. The rack of lamb is great also. Many wonderful seafood dishes as well. The food, wine, service and décor are amazing. Try it, you can't go wrong.
Great attentive service, but not too obtrusive. Lobster was a little small, but the small filet was prepared just right with an excellent bernaise. House salad was very good with the raspberry salad dressing. Wine selection is noteworthy but not cheap. We had a very good cab from Starmount for $50. This is one of St. Augustine's best restaurants, if not the best. Lots of locals eat here. Not reall good for families, but great for business and coiuples on special occassions.
Raintree is one of our favorite restaurants. We went there for our anniversary and had a wonderful meal. The service was great and the desserts were amazing. Raintree added some nice touches to make our anniversary celebration very special. This is one of our favorite restaurants in St. Augustine
A friend had recommended this restaurant while we were on vacation. Made a reservation a few weeks ago. We were seated promptly on the porch......loved everything about it. I had Eggplant Parmesan with a side salad.....my husband had Beef Wellington with salad. We also had cocktails. Shared a dessert which was chocolate cake...my husband said the sauce was just like what his grandma made! Service, ambiance, and food were all excellent!
Raintree is a favorite of mine here in St. Augustine. It's not the beach or in the historical district but it is uniquely local and the food is always superb. It's a place for special occasions or just a nice evening. I recommend the ahi tuna but the seafood is always good and you can get Beef Wellington. It's a special place and having eaten there over three decades it remains first class.
I would drive 6.5 hours from Atlanta just to eat here again. The food and atmosphere were amazing. The price was very reasonable for such a touristy area. We had brunch, and everything I put in my mouth was fabulous! Our server was attentive even though it was very busy. I wish I lived closer. I would be here every Sunday for brunch.
The mussels were a great appetizer choice -- delicious and plentiful. Tilapia was beautifully prepared and flavorful ; accompanying rice and mixed veggies were fine but decidedly ordinary. Chiocolate mousse was a light and satisfying ending to an overall delightful meal.
We have read numerous great reviews for this restaurant, and so we added it to our must-try list. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. First of all, the service was awful. Our server (already awkwardly unfriendly from the start) forgot our salad bread, and served it later during our meal. When we hesitated, he blamed us and said that because we asked to share a plate, he had to split it and that confused him so he forgot the salad and bread. By this point, we were just over it so we smiled and ate our meal, but didn't touch the salad. We ordered the tomato mozzarella appetizer and vegetable lasagna, which were average at best... we had hoped for better quality food, based on the reviews. When he gave us the check, he informed us that the gratuity was included, and so we politely asked him to remove it. He then refused!!!, and told us he would remove one of our drinks instead, which would have resulted in a higher amount reduced from the check. BUT, we insisted that the automatic gratuity be removed on principle, which he eventually obliged. Overall, this was not a great experience mostly due to the service, although the food was really nothing special. The ambiance is quite nice and charming, however...
In St. Augustine for a night with my daughter and granddaughter. One great thing about the restaurant right off is Parking, which can be terrible in St. Augustine. The whole building looks inviting, outdoor seating, lots of windows and little tables with good views everywhere. There is a good selection of appetizers and desserts as well as wine and full bar. We got the steak wedge salads. The steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection and the lettuce was Romaine, rather than the usual iceberg. The desserts and wine were both great. I would recommend this restaurant highly.
Raintree was recommended to us by a friend. We went to Raintree to celebrate our anniversary. We were quickly seated on their outdoor patio which was beautiful, peaceful, and quiet. The server was great and quiet with her service. We ordered the kobe burger and prime rib. My fiance stated that his burger was delicious, I thought my prime rib was just okay. It lacked some flavors. I ordered a sangria and it was delicious. We also got the keylime cake for dessert and it was good. Overall Raintree is a nice little gem in St. Augustine, it was a little bit on the pricey side for the amount of food that we received.
Recently moved to St. Augustine Area from NJ. Still trying out various restaurants in area, thought we'd try Raintree, based on recommendation of a local friend, for our anniversary. Total cost of meal for appetizers, entrees, shared desert, special cocktails, and a bottle of wine including gratuity was about $198. A little on the high side but not bad given the $45 bottle of wine. Overall, we would go back again. Review: I can't remember the names of the separate special cocktails that we had, but they were nothing special, probably would not try again. For appetizers we each had the ahi-tuna carpaccio which was delicious (as good as any 5 star restaurant that we have been to), for my entrée I had the Veal San Marco, a veal and shrimp dish which was very good, nice tender veal and the shrimp were deliciously fresh...I wish there were a few more shrimp on the dish than the 4 provided. I probably would have preferred a few more shrimp and a little less veal if given the choice. My wife had the beef wellington which was very good, done just right. For desert we shared a Cinnamon Banana Crepe which was absolutely fabulously delicious. Our server was very friendly, helpful, and courteous. We did not feel rushed at all, he was there when needed. I did notice a discrepancy, as noted in other reviews, that the servers reciting the evening specials were not consistent in their delivery. For example one server mentioned 5 specials to his diners but our server had only mentioned 3 to us. One of the best things about this restaurant is the ambiance. We arrived before dark and found the rooms to be lovely, lots of windows and light spilling in throughout. As it grew dark, the lighting inside was nice, soft and romantic. When the weather is cooler, we would definitely like to come back and try the patio. Lots of brick, lighted trees and gas torches and it looks like it would be very enjoyable at night.
Raintree is one of most favorite restaurants in St. Augustine. We have never had a bad meal. We have tried almost everything on their menu. We went with our all time favorite for my birthday, their filet mignon. I was able to get the 6 ounce and my husband was able to get the 9 ounce. The Raintree special Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing is always good. Our all time favorite is their filet mignon. We don't eat red meat very often, so this is really treat when we go to Raintree and order a nice steak. Make sure you save room for their awesome Deserts. We have the lava chocolate cake and ice cream - Yummy. We had a great time.
We went on Saturday night, so they were very busy...maybe a little noisy. The food was excellent and the service was just fine! It has been many years since I had been there. We enjoyed their excellent Prime Rib dinner and even splurged for sharing a mocha icecream crepe that was delightful! It's definitely worth the drive down from Jacksonville. We will come again!
I took my husband here for his birthday dinner. Immediately when we walked in there was a very off putting smell. The air purifier they had out wasn't doing much to help that. The table we sat at was in a nice location, but we were constantly harassed by no less than 5 black flies our entire time we were there. No offer was made to move us to another table or remedy the situation. Our waitress mentioned the flies twice, so they knew about the situation. Our waitress was fine, but she never refilled our waters or took away my empty drink glass that sat on the edge of the table the entire time. Food was adequate, but not worth the price. Very disappointed, we will not be back.
